  1. It's taller than the floodlights by 10metres, that's almost by an extra 1/3 - and they are at least part of an existing building/structure. This mast will sit behind the Stand completely on its own and it basically the height the South Stand would be if it had a 3rd tier on it, it's fucking huge. It'll likely need an aircraft warning light installed on top of it. Clearly wherever they put it it's going to be visible but there must be a corner of somewhere like Eurocentral or Ravenscraig where it is far enough away from any housing and some sort of attempt could be made to hide it in amongst some trees or something so as not to become a nuisance to the residents and be such an obvious eyesore.
  2. They have owned both houses closest to the stand at various times though never both houses at the same time. Most recently they owned the 2nd closest house but that was sold to one of the directors when we went into administration.
  3. That's not what it says at all now is it? I'm sure the deal he signed was more to do with access to the masts being attached to the floodlights at the time years ago and any upgrades and maintenance they would need over time but this new mast is obviously the mobile company trying to push this on to the next level. FWIW not all residents were made aware of these plans. Only a select few were notified ahead of time with most of them only finding out over the last few days when the notice was posted in the Motherwell Times.
  4. It's been a good while since I posted in this hell scape but here goes. There's already 2 phone masts attached to the floodlights so if you've no phone signal in the stadium currently I doubt this will improve things much. No the club don't own that row of houses. I don't see how the property prices won't be affected. Those houses already have a tougher time selling than others because of the South Stand but I'm not sure that's an argument for making that even more difficult by sticking a 45 metre high tower right at the bottom of the gardens. I'm not sure people understand the scale of this thing, it's 50% taller than the stand so it'll tower above that never mind everything else round about it. The South Stand is 30metres high this mast will be 45metres. There's a notice on the governments own site warning against having them places in residential areas or near schools (it's right over the fence from Fir Park School) as a precaution against any unknown negative health impacts. I'm far from an anti 5g head case but there must be a far more sensible place to put it where it'll not take over the place and can be hidden from sight a bit easier. Motherwell aren't receiving a penny from this apparently. John Boyle signed a one-off deal back in the day allowing the mobile company access the site for 50 years.
  5. There's still the match day gear available as well (we have someone working on them currently) , although the back of the shirt is the cheaper option but has to be sorted by Tuesday as the order goes into the manufacturer. The match day stuff will stay open for another week or so before the order goes in. Cheers to the guys who have offered to pitch in.
  6. That describes about 90% of the team these days Busta, get yourself involved.
  7. As well as our usual plea for new players this summer we are also on the hunt for a new manager and sponsors. Having just lost 5/6 players from last year's squad we're looking to add players for all positions in the team. If anyone would be interested in sponsoring us for the coming season we are looking to get sponsors on our new match day tracksuits - £300, new match day polo shirts - £250 and on the back of our new home kit - £150, (Our away kit is currently sponsored by Strongman Removals). In return we will push your business online, give you a mention on all our match reports and will do what we can to get involved with the business and bring some custom your way. We are also in the process of linking up with a charity and are hoping this will gain a bit of publicity in the local papers. Lastly, our manager from last year is making a playing comeback so we are looking for someone looking to take his place running purely the football side of the team, alongside the guys we have running all the teams off field business. We play on Saturday mornings and arrange our games around the Motherwell fixture list so everyone has the chance to make it to the game in the afternoon, if they wish. If you or anyone you know might be interested send us a message here, on Twitter (@firparkcornerfc) or on Facebook (/firparkcornerfc) Cheers.
  8. Haha, I've got another 3 years left in me yet before that time comes. It's always nice to be head hunted though, clearly (as with most games) I was our stand out player on the night.

    Lasley.

I reckon he'll be here next year continuing in his current under 20s role and combining it with either the 1st team coach role Robinson vacated or taking over as assistant from Faddy, who I don't think too many expect will hang around next season.
  10. It's that time of year again. We are on the hunt for new players to add to our squad for the 2017/18 season. We play on Saturday mornings, with kick off usually around 10/11am, in the IFA Scottish League as well as the Scottish and British Cups. Our fixture list is arranged around the SPFL fixtures to allow everyone the chance to make it to the Motherwell game in the afternoon. Training is on twice a week, (we're looking at Tuesday/Thursday next season), to give shift workers the chance to make it along as often as possible. If anyone is interested we have a few training sessions left for this season before starting back in July to begin for next year. You can get in touch by leaving me a message here, on Twitter (@firparkcornerfc), Facebook (Firparkcornerfc) or email firparkcornerfc@gmail.com.

  12. The guys are all from round the Motherwell and Wishaw area I'm sure mate.
  13. We're looking to add to every position in the team. Generally training is at Aquatec/Fir Park 3g on Monday nights (8-10pm) and Keir Hardie in Holytown on a Thursday (9-10pm). However, for the first month or so we'll be at the Beltane in Wishaw starting slightly earlier just to make the most of the light nights, so likely to start at 7/7.30pm until 9.30/10pm.
  14. We're currently on the look out for new players to add to our squad for the start of next season. After winning the IFA Scottish Cup last Saturday we're currently taking a few weeks off before easing ourselves back with some 7s before pre-season training starts proper in July, quickly followed by some friendlies. Send a message on here or get in contact via our Twitter or Facebook if you're interested or if you know anyone who might be interested point them in our direction. Games are played on Saturday mornings and are arranged around the big teams fixtures, so no need to worry about missing any games if you have a season ticket.
  15. *BUMP* We've had a few guys get in touch, so just an added bit of info incase anyone else may be interested. Pre-season training is starting back in 2 weeks time, (week commencing 6th July), most likely sticking to our original Monday and Thursday nights and with our first friendly on the Saturday. For the first month or 2 training will run from 7.30pm-9.30pm before we switch to our 8-10pm and 9-10pm bookings at Fir Park and Ravenscraig/Holytown. We will also be playing a trialists game, most likely on the 15th August, if that may interest anyone. Again if anyone may be considering it or looking for any other info you can message myself on here or get in contact via the Fir Park Corner FC Twitter and Facebook pages.
  16. And his signings over the last 2 seasons were beyond a joke. He may have had a decent strike rate with signings beforehand (first season excepted). But over the past 2 years most of the signings that were made were pure laziness.
  17. We're always on the look out for new players, so when you're recovered from the surgery feel free to get in touch and join. There is no restriction with having to have players registered before a certain point, so you'd be able to join up at any point.
  18. (Apologies if this should be in the 'General' section) Anyone looking for a new team to join or looking to get back into playing? Fir Park Corner FC are on the look out for new players to add to our squad for next season in the IFA supporters league. Our current season is finishing at the end of May and then we'll be back into training in July. Training is on Monday (8-10pm) and Thursday (9-10pm). Our home games are at Ravenscraig at 11am on Saturday mornings. As well as participation in the IFA league and Scottish Cup we are also entered into the British Cup, which this season saw us get an away tie in Manchester. This is usually tied in with an overnight stay for a team bonding (heavy **** up) session and adds to a heavy social calender which also includes an end of season tournament in Liverpool, Preston or Leeds. And if we're lucky we'll get a game on Fir Park at the end of each season (play offs look to have scuppered us this season). If anyone is interested please get in contact with myself here, or via the Fir Park Corner FC Twitter and Facebook accounts. EDIT: I should also add, we arrange our fixture list around Motherwell's games, so if you have a season ticket or like an away day you'll have no worries about making any of the games. (Debatable whether this is a good selling point at the moment).
  19. I'd put Steve Jones above Daley as McCall's worst signing. We might only have had to deal with him for 6 months as opposed to 2 years of Daley, but he was that bad.
  20. Totally agree with this. I've never understood all the hype round Martinez at all, Paul Jewell and Steve Bruce have better records with Wigan and while he gets credit for whats happening at Swansea both Paolo Sousa then Brendan Rodgers made bigger impacts than him before Laudrup took over. It's all down to him having a snazzy name. If he was Rab Martins he wouldn't have half the chat about him. EDIT: They'll be doing well to finish top 12 this season.
  21. Delighted Daley is gone but disappointed Kerr is getting an offer, he's looked shite. With higginbotham, was Grayson not the boss at Huddersfield when he joined? Maybe Mark Robins wants a look at him during pre-season before making a call on him, could still be a chance of it happening if so.
