There are negatives to the move for him, but anyone who says they can't see reasons why it would appeal is having a laugh...

I think most would accept that there are reasons why it would appeal. However IMO if you look at the bigger picture it's an absolutely ridiculous move.

Fuck it. He is gone. Move on. Also I am pretty much certain that McCall will have influenced this move.

To be fair, McCall played there for a number of years and McCoist is his pal. He couldn't say

"It's a shitehole and the manager's a dick.."

Pretty sure McCall would have been honest about the downsides without making himself look like a hypocrite...

Who can say where Nicky Law could have played. It is extremely presumptions to say mid level championship is his level. Sure that is the sort of team I'd expect to be interested in him now. But I can think of many players people thought were of a certain level that have done better than expected. Off the top of my head Wes Hoolahan has had plenty games for Norwich. Even Stephen Dobbie got a few games in the premier league down south, didn't take it but he got his chance. Nicky Law could have combination of same luck and development as a player. He is an idiot for letting his career rot in lower leagues regardless of the money.

At the end of the day , Law was leaving no matter what , so where he ended up was never something I was concerned about . Sure , I wouldn't have liked to see him up against us for another top league team , but thats not going to be the case for a while yet .

Lack of ambition possibly , but definitely no lack of £s in what is a short career , cannae really blame him from that point of view . He can coast through the next couple of years and walk away with more money than many of us could earn in 10 or 20 yrs , best of luck to him if thats the direction he wants to take his career in .

Isn't it just no matter how good you are there is a healthy disregard south of the border for the level of our game and quality of the players in it? The Sheffield United forum digging into us and the standard of the achievements that McCall has attained, Ruddy getting interviewed by some smug prick in a regional English football show after his move to Norwich, etc. are prime examples of this.

Isn't it just we see a player, think they could do a job at the Brighton's and Nottingham Forest's of this world, unfortunately they aren't seen the same way down south and carry less of a premium? Case in point being Murphy, there were people on these boards suggesting that he was easily a +£1m player.

Law's moved, we'll replace him like we did with Coke, Jennings and a host of all other players that too many predicted impending doom after their loss. I can only imagine playing in front of 45k baying bigots and picking up a healthy bit of cash compared to what he was on here were the draws for him. He's probably been sold into the "help us rebuild into a force again in European football" pish. It's not fair to say anything about what was a good servant to our club when we don't know what other offers were on the table for him. On paper it appears a lack of ambition, however if the only other hat in the ring was Cheltenham Town on £500 more than we were paying him then it makes sense.

If it came with the associated grief of being an Old Firm player in the fishbowl of the west of Scotland meeja, and meant I was practically guaranteed to achieve nothing of interest for the next three years -- 15% or more of my professional career? It certainly doesn't strike me as massively appealing.

The cost of living and the upheaval of moving to England would be another factor. Nicky is a young guy and I'm sorry if you feel it's the wrong move but if I was him I'd take it in less than a heartbeat

Really lost all respect for Law now. Not that he's joined the dark side but that he's bought into the 54 titles shite. They have won 1 3rd division title & that's all. While the mighty Well are playing in Europe he'll be sitting on his arse waiting for September to come counting his bank balance. Hell mend him when they go tits up again.

Given he's signed for them....what did you expect him to say?

Disappointed by this. Thought Nicky was smarter than that.

Of course it totally depends on what his other offers were.

Im just surprised that with McCall in for the Sheffield Utd job he didnt hang about a bit longer.

Other thing that occurred to me was maybe he has been given the nod that The Rangers will be in SPL 2 next season and he might only be looking at one season in lower league football?

The cost of living would doubtless be more than compensated by a much bigger salary. I don't recall if he has kids; if he does, that's certainly a big factor, but if not I'd have thought moving back closer to where most of your friends and family still are wouldn't be the biggest upheaval in the world.

But anyway, he's made his choice. Onwards and upwards :)

Welcome to the biggest club in Scotland Nicky looks like you might be joined by Humphrey as well soon, good to see players getting out of a sinking ship before it goes down.

Sure the guy will miss out on a two week European run and gettiing pumped 5-0 by some goat herders from Albania but sacrifices must be made in Football.

I mean it's not like he's leaving a club that plays in a half empty staduim and is so skint it has to use it's fans group overdraft to survive or anything is it???????

Oh wait.

1/10. Must try harder.
