  1. Bair against Livi, because not only was that a great goal but it really boosted his confidence for the remainder of the season. I also really enjoyed Slattery's against Hearts because it was a nice move and it was against Hearts.
  2. In an ideal world neither side of the OF would win the title, but the seethe from the Rangers fans this week will be as funny as it is epic.
  3. That's true. However, in the last fans' vote there was a significant majority who said they would "consider voting in support of any investment proposal which would see the Well Society losing its majority shareholding." Of course, they may change their minds when the details of the new proposal are revealed, but it doesn't fill me with confidence.
  4. I remember a game at Fir Park where St Johnstone would be relegated if they lost. We beat them 4 - 0.
  5. George Cumming was also my Geography teacher at Earnock. Not a fan of the OF or their supporters.
  6. My education was also very much delivered in the 1975 Airdrie cup semi. I still have the scarf I bought for that game in case I ever forget.
  7. I remember that well. Was surprised walking to the ground just how many 'Well fans turned up.
  8. The first game I ever went to was, I think, in the 70-71 season. From 1970 - 1984 (very much my formative Motherwell years) we only had a hoop on the shirt for part of one season, which is no doubt why I'm not as attached to it as some. Wulie P and Bobby Graham etc. will always be the claret diagonal for me.
  9. You can't distill our lack of points down to one incident in one game. We've given away many goals that have cost us points and missed many chances that would have potentially earned us points over the course of the season. Just like every other team. That's why the league table is a good reflection of form over the season.
  10. Most of the defensive mistakes I've seen this season have been in the middle. Casey, Blaney and Butcher have all been culpable with some horrendous lapses in concentration when marking or just giving the ball away. There was a long stretch this season when all Casey did was run about and give away fouls in dangerous areas. SOD has his faults too - every player does - but when he's on his game he can at least pick out a pass and a cross. I've given up now on seeing full backs that can defend well, because that requirement has been eliminated from the modern game.
  11. Has almost no impact on us, but I'd be worried if I was a St Johnstone fan. We had 4 wins and a draw post-split last season. 2 wins this season would mean County have to win all 5 to overhaul us (or 4 wins, a draw and make up 19 goals). BTW. This is another reason I don't like the split. Top 6 teams having to take on teams fighting for survival is a huge part of the game and often throws up a shock result or two.
  12. I remember Robinson saying James Scott didn't make good use of his size when he was with us, and still seems to be the case these days. It was only when I saw him standing beside guys like McHugh, Aldred and Hartley I could see he was a unit.
  13. At least we didn't need an Aberdeen win. Take your pick...
