  1. I also think its good man management by Clarke at the moment. He probably knows Kelly (or maybe Clark) isnt going to be on the plane as Gordons experience will surely be preferred. But if something happens to Gordon between now and then and he has cut one of the other keepers adrift it doesnt look great. Best to keep them all involved right now until a decision has to be made.
  2. Kellys confidence has been low of late. Getting away with Scotland is a break away from Motherwell and gives him something different to think about. He gets to train with better players, better coaches and has to compete against better keepers for his place. That all changes the mindset and should have him coming back to us in a more positive frame of mind. Whether he plays or not, he is in the Scotland international squad and his next contract will reflect that. Unlikely to be with us, but he will certainly benefit from it as opposed to not being in the squad. Clarke will judge his keepers by comparing what they do in training and by taking the advice of his goalkeeping coach. The best one gets the nod.
  3. Brodie Spencer had a very good game for N.Ireland last night at LWB! Imagine playing him in that position! 😆
  4. He didnt play Clarke or Gordon either. Obviously wanted a look at all 4 keepers in training to decide who is going to the Euros. Personally think it will Be Gunn, Gordon and Clarke, but having Kelly in the Scotland squad is beneficial to him and us.
  5. Spittal left Dundee United 7 years ago aged 21. He is now 28 and in his prime footballing years. Comparing the 2 is pointless and unfair on the player. Given the that 7 years have elapsed and he has had 3 clubs since then its fair to say he is now much more experienced. Hearts are clearly getting a much better player than the one United had. As for spending the money on KVV, I think we have done that one to death. We need to maximise the value for money we can get. KVV no longer represents that due to what he now earns. Too much risk attached for the cost.
  6. I agree. I also like that we appointed the CEO and he is therefore more likely to work in the interests of the club/society than one appointed by an investor. Shrewsbury fans seem to love him and he appears a big supporter of fan culture / community. Seems like a good fit. https://www.shropshirestar.com/sport/football/shrewsbury-town-fc/2023/05/03/shrewsbury-town-fans-pay-tribute-to-departing-chief-executive-brian-caldwell/
  7. I understand the sentiment. But they didnt really die. Only Rangers did that. 😉
  8. Youd like to think not. We got a guy in on terms that suited us. He played well for 2 seasons (has been exceptional this season) and has got himself a bigger move off of those performances. The deal has worked for both parties and he is a great example for us to showcase to other prospective new signings. Its the model we have to work with now, so we need to get used to it. Would havr been nice if we had managed to get top 6 sooner and pushed the boat out for him, but realistically Hearts would still have been able to top that. Good luck to him. He will have my support until the end of the season.
  9. Good to get someone in post Hopefully he has the necessary skills and experience to be a success. It also hopefully means that the Well Society has exerted some control/authority over the investment opportunities and we will take our time to find the right one for the club rather than just dropping our drawers at the first offer.
  10. 3-1 Motherwell. For no other reason than trying to generate a positive feeling around this fixture!
  11. Probably. But it would be good to see him back and have the management team assess whether he has developed any. If not, happy for him to move on.
  12. I know not everyone on here is a Scotland fan, but cant you even hear yourself? I try not to bite with some of the stuff you post, but this is reactionary nonsense. Given the amount of injuries we have suffered with our players in training this kind of thing could easily have happened had international football not even be a thing. But seeing as it is and Im Scottish, I love to see our players being picked for Scotland (and any of the other countries our players play for). It shows they and we are doing well. Enjoy your summer watching cricket or whatever other meaningless shit you fill your time with.
  13. This is what we do. We take players, improve them, and move them on. It would have been nice if we could have got a fee for Spittal, but at least it is another one in a long line of players we have improved who have gone on to bigger things. Should help us attract a suitable replacement......
  14. Regardless of the repsonse, its a good strong statement from the club putting our position and that of the fans on record. If other clubs do likewise, the pressure on the SFA / SPFL will be ramped up. They cant ignore it forever.
  15. FWIW I dont expect us to beat St Mirren, Dundee or Hibs. I just live in hope. Im not sure I could keep turning up at Fir Park if I thought we were going to lose every week. (Not that Im saying thats your position.) I know its the hope that kills you, but I cant help myself! 😆
