Motherwell footballer in court charged with attack on young woman

A Motherwell FC footballer has been charged with attacking a woman just days before Christmas.

Craig Reid, 28, was arrested by police on February 4 in connection with the incident which happened in December.

The alleged attack took place in the New Gorbals area of Glasgow on December 21 but he was not arrested until earlier this month.

Reid did not make it into the squad on Saturday February 14 for Motherwell's match against Ross County.

The defender was detained in police custody and appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on February 5 charged with assault to injury.

He made no plea or declaration during the short hearing and was granted bail.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A 28-year-old man was arrested and detained in connection with an alleged assault on a 25-year-old woman.

"He was due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on February 5. A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal."

What's that all about?
