Bearing in mind Shea Gordon is 18 and was making his first senior start, I thought he looked lively and strong. Just a shame the seniors around him were all having howlers.

I'd have given him it for those reasons alone, however I thought McDonald was our real standout. Too often the only one who looked like he a semblance of composure and creativity. It's a shame he was the one constantly being dragged out wide when he's the guy you want in the 6 yard box.

As I alluded to at half time I actually feel sorry for McDonald playing in that team. Works his socks off every week when surrounded by complete diddies.

Had to be one of McDonald, Lasley or Ainsworth today and I went for Lasley. Made an immediate difference when he came on.

I think there's a player there from the little I've seen of the U20's but I thought he looked a little inhibited myself. He looked to me like he wasn't totally convinced he belonged in the first team yet. I was really hoping for a coming of age moment, if you want to call it that, where he would win a tough tackle, make a cutting edge pass or produce a bit of trickery that would give him the confidence to play.

No question though its a very difficult time to chuck a youngster in and as you say there were plenty below his level. Just not quite MOTM stuff for me though.

Something I've probably not done for about 5 years...voted for Keith Lasley as our motm from Saturday.

The fact that I have done, says more about the insipid show put on by the rest of our midfielders than it does about Lasleys footballing abilities. He provided more energy alone than Clay and Pearson combined in the 1st half.
