Stenny have just this morning announced a raft of short-term signings to make up the numbers for their remaining League Cup games. If we can't pump this mob comfortably, Iβll be both surprised and pissed off. https://www.stenhousemuirfc.com/2025/07/19/warriors-there-is-no-better-game-day-feeling-than-adding-players-to-our-ranks/

Patience is required. It will be interesting to see us holding our nerve when we ship goals getting caught in 18 yard box. Those goals are obvious but not in my mind any worse than booting up the park only for the opposition run straight through us and score. There's a few similarities to York who last year moved to this style of play. At the start of their season it was very similar to what we're seeing but by the end of the season the ended up scoring 2x and conceded less. They lost the play offs due to a howler in their box inbounds the final game and many fans still felt the style was wrong. I'll be delighted if we can follow in their footsteps , increasing goals scored and moving us far further up the league. There will be massive moments of embarrassment but overall should see much better football being played.

I'll enjoy watching grown men get upset at the football, you don't have to "get" it to be fair. There were boos ringing out when Matty Connelly beat a Peterhead player on the 6 yard line with the ball at his feet. Boos! I laughed like fuck at that, I enjoyed it. Two mugs were punching each other over the goalie at the Clyde game. I laughed when I found out what it was about. I enjoyed the thought that two blokes can get so wound up they decided to fight like 15 year old boys. Come mid August, if we get when we get caught out, cos we will, and I see people purple in the face, I will laugh. Sure, I may change my mind, later in the season. Meh, we'll see.
-
Sorry, but I don't get why anyone would enjoy that? I know its very idealistic and not attainable in the real world, but surely we want a united support. I'm not saying that some of our support don't deserve criticism at times but I can't say I'd ever actually enjoy that. Maybe just me.

I did two whole away games last season - also going tomorrow
-
I agree with this, I always thought he was a big diddy, but he sustained it enough for Aberdeen to make a few quid.
-
This will be my first away game in a few years. I'm going because, I saw enough on Tuesday night to suggest that the football that we will be watching this season will be worth the entrance fee. I like the manager's interviews and I am buying into his philosophy. So, I am going along tomorrow to see a little bit of improvement and some attractive football. I will accept the risks of this new style of play and have high hopes for the season ahead. That said, it won't be plain sailing tomorrow. I expect that we'll lose a goal, but will eventually win out. 3-1 to The Well.
-
I'm enjoying trying to change things. I suspect JBA will have a ball playing CB lined up when he gets funding. I'll enjoy folk losing the heid in mid August too.

Totally agree. Not the new managerβs fault as McGhee had already signed a pre-contract agreement some time ago. But, yes another drain on the wage bill that canβt contribute.
-
A lot will depend, as Spiderpig says, on how we defend and how exciting / effective we are in the final third. Crack those 2 issues and the fans won't be a problem. If our games are characterised by endless back and sideways passing, a sterile attack and losing cheap goals, many will be unhappy. We must remember though that Peterhead were defensive in the extreme and struck a bit of good luck.
-
Surprisingly calm to be honest, still the same issues to get people upset, our defence and lack of goal threat.
-
How was the reaction to this one? I've not read the thread. I assume level headed and calm?
-
Agree . I do love us having some local lads whoβve grown up with the club . Be great to see him progress .
-
He was feckin brutal in his time at Fir park, I'm surprised hes still making a living from football.
-
The boo brigade donβt really matter do they. The only time they get to vent their repressed anger is at the football on a Saturday. If they shouted like that in the house when the missus told them to do the dishes or hang out the washing there would be hell to pay.
-
Was a strange atmosphere at game last Tuesday and think manager has picked up on it very quickly . Players following instruction then a mistake at the back and they score . Vast majority of of fan base stayed calm but very small percentage started booing . Actually turned round at that point and there were a few angry chappies in full throttle booing 8 mins into the first home game . . Each to their own I suppose but the way the manager explained staying calm was important at that point re. the players not rushing things it was very telling . I for one will be buying into his methods as the last few years have been an awful watch . Not sure everyone in our support is though or even willing to give it a chance . The reason he was brought in was because even the Chairman wanted a different style of football to punts up the park and winning second balls stuff as per Robbo Alexander Kettlewells. Chairman has been brave in this appointment . He could easily have taken the safe appointment but chose to try something different . Im sure the vast majority of us will buy into it . The boo brigade ?Mmmm not so sure

I think we are going to win 3-0 tomorrow. There.....I've said it. Positivity overload. COYW

That was a really nice interview with Matty. You can tell how much it meant to him getting the start

Heβs been a Motherwell player since he was four SIWY wow -
100% I enjoyed his explanations of avoiding the long ball and how taking the extra 10 or 15 seconds can lead to better creation of chances (instead of conceding possession and losing a minute).
-
Heβs all about load management. I hear him as when I sit watching TV at night over the weekend and Iβm half way through a family bag of Doritos and large bag of minstrels, I too consider my load management. Sometimes I transition to the floor to enable me to use a quality counter press to complete the job in the final third.
