Can I also say what an achievement for SOD to get 200 appearances. Really pleased for him as some of the stick he has taken over the years has been ridiculous. Aye made mistakes but who doesn't? He never hides and actually is a player who fits into JBA style unlike the garbage "just punt it" from Kettlewell. He also got badly treated by Alexander. Well done SOD

Yup i hope they survive. I am a Hamilton lad and lived there until Mrs grizzly and I moved in together ( still a sore subject for her 🤣🤣). Got a few mates that are accies fans and they aren't hopeful, club being run terribly
-
Maybe getting a guy with an arts degree to run his business wasn't a good idea either. I ended up interconnected with another 'boyle enterprise' and believe me, he's fucked up a lot more than just Motherwell and Zoom airlines. Well meaning maybe, no very good at stuff, definitely. (Obviously caveated by the fact that he made a fortune with direct holidays, but his brother was in the driving seat for that one).

Absolutely agree. Malice or incompetence in the single-owner model can be equally disastrous, though, which is why I am more comfortable with the current setup, even with all its challenges.
-
The "earn the right" phrase is typically used by managers who believe you aren't allowed to pass the ball for the first half hour. Only punts and hard tackles. As we have shown many times this season, it's also a legitimate tactic to come out of the blocks playing the game you want to play and imposing that on the opposition from the first minute.
-
It was a Robinson thing.....we have to play dinosaur football first because we have to 'earn the right to play football'. Used to get right on my nipple ends !
-
I dont think any of Boyles actions, decisions etc were made with any malicious or fradulent intent, for me it was just naievety and a lack of understanding of the particular environment re football in west central scotland. Spending money we could not afford in chasing a dream we were never going to realise.
-
I dont see anything wrong with using that phrase, its true, no oposition is going to sit back and let us take 3 points. The players need to give 100% effort, stick to how JBA wants us to play, eliminate the daft errors etc and then we will have earned the right to win games by being better than the opposition in all aspects.
-
Forget the sheep, tame or wild. John Boyle nearly finished us off, and he was on our side.
-
Yep. Total sliding doors moment that one, and ill never get over the "but he's American" of it all. Right now we could all be talking about the finale of an epic Netflix series titled "Steelmen: Stuart Kettlewell's initial remarks, pt 22"
-
Wild Sheep Enterprises anyone?
-
I just wish he hadn't used the words 'earn the right' !!!

It's scary how this situation could materialize at just about any club, where a dodgy owner loses the run of themselves, or internal politics strangle a club. Even owners/execs with best of intentions can royally screw things up. What has happened at Accies over the last few years is just a whole other level though. How it took until now to deem their owner and chief execs as not fit and proper to run a football club beats me.

Out of likes. But I concur!

What an absolute shambles at Accies, it’s been mismanaged for years and I really feel for them. For them to be punted out of Hamilton and playing in Cumbernauld and Clyde to be playing in Hamilton is an absolute sh1t show. I’ve never had any issue with Accies even though I know they don’t particularly like us. I hope they pull through this but it does not look good.
-
I play golf with a die hard Accies fan and he predicted in September they only had about a month till they would go bust. His timeline was a bit out but not by much. He only attends away games now, the move to Cumbernauld was a final straw for him and quite a few others. Hopefully it is administration and they can recover in some form.

The fairy tale

I fear they are, at best, heading into administration, and at worst, liquidating. It's been obvious for years now there has been some dodgy financial dealings going on there and, as always, it's the fans that get screwed over.

Agree. Welsh is a great aquisition, even on loan & adds a great deal to our previously pourous defence. If he gets noticed then brilliant, but theres a fair few c&a tinted glasses here. Pretty sure i read a number of 'awe naws' on here when we signed him. 🤣
-
I think teams will struggle against us even though they will know how we play because I think we have already learned that if they press us high then we will use longer ball more. Once they combat that then we will revert to playing from the back. Most teams end up only pressing high for a short time amd so, yes, there may be difficult periods in a game but overall I think teams are not set up to be successful against our style of play.
-
I'm guessing they dont care that much about getting paid.
-
I think we're getting carried away here. If the above was true Welsh would be getting a game for Celtic. We're rating the current scotland center backs (that qualified for a world cup) based on their performances against other international teams, but bigging up Stephen Welsh based on performances against Hibs and Hearts. Also, Clarke isnt going to change the teams style to acommodate one player, nevermind a motherwell player. Hanley and our style aside, all of those other CBs would walk into our team.
