  1. I've said elsewhere on social media, that the current style of play is great and coupled with a winning run, you have to give the management team a pat on the back and congratulate them. However, to suggest that Robinson didn't deserve the criticism he was getting, is utterly mental. For the previous 12months or so, prior to this month, we have been utter dugshite, in results and performances. We persisted with a formation that clearly didn't work anymore, a tactic of shelling long balls at folk who struggled to time a jump and continued to play players who weren't performing. At the moment, I'm liking what I see, however as recently as December I was sick to the back teeth of watching the same match every single week, and it became a chore, without a shadow of a doubt. These youngsters that we've brought in, are playing without fear, they are eager to impress and the likes of Gorrin and Main, look like they are thriving playing alongside them. I know its easy to say in hindsight, but why weren't these boys really involved sooner?

  2. I think that this should be a real source of pride for the club. The culture in football now is to sack managers at the first hint of trouble. In Scotland, the clamber to sack managers was the domain of Old Firm fans who believed that a victory every Saturday was a God given right. Sadly it is an attitude that has filtered into all clubs at all levels of the game including our own. Fortunately in this case, Alan Burrows and the board were able to look deeper than the poor on field performances at a man who is working his socks off to improve all levels of the club from recruitment, to training, to coaching structures to youth development etc. A young, driven professional manager who, whilst still learning the ropes has acted throughout with the best interests of the club at heart. Some of the comments on these boards in recent months have made for difficult reading. Personal attacks on Robinson and Burrows, and a complete disregard for the hours of work that they put into the club. It would be nice to think that a few lessons have been learnt now that the fortunes have turned around. We should be seen as a club who supports our managers, our players and particulary our young players. The board has led the way, the fans need to do the same. I am delighted for the manager, the players and for Burrows. That the goals in recent weeks have been home grown has made it all the sweeter.

  3. What a great post. One of the reasons I seldom come on here anymore is not because folk have different opinions (which is healthy) but because of the vitriolic and personal nature of some of the attacks on our manager, chief exec, and some players and fellow posters. I see the usual suspects have gone quiet, awaiting no doubt a defeat or poor performance to take to their keyboards again. Don't get me wrong, there were questions to answer and mistakes made, can't say any of us were happy at what we were watching. I just despaired at the lack of reasoned thought, balance and the vindictivness of some contributions. Suppose its easy sitting behind a keyboard. Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk

  4. When did we last get "caught out"? This is 2019. The agents of all the youngsters are on the phone every day touting their clients and discussing with other clubs - often just to bump up their value. All we can do is make the best offers we can with the money we have for the wage structure we operate. We even sold Bigi to free up some cash to make our offers. (Of course, we also have the advantage of giving the youngsters game time). Cadden, Campbell and Turnbull were all signed up at different times, so we did OK there. I'm sure we have made Hastie a similar offer to Turnbull and we have the added advantage that these guys are all good mates and grew up playing football together; so might just want to play in the same first team for a season or two. We can't force guys to sign - all we can do is show them the benefits of staying with us for a bit longer. Add to that the examples we can point to of guys that left too soon, and we have a good chance of keeping most of our prospects. The timing of these deals it tricky. For every Hastie and Turnbull there are a dozen Bob McHughs, Craig Moores and Dom Thomases who never make it in the first team. We can't afford to splash out on all of them and hope one or two make it.

  5. Is that the same man that brought in Carson, Gillespie, Dunne, Kipré, Aldred, Tanner, Gorrin and Johnson? I'm not Robinson's biggest fan but people have selective memories when criticising his transfer record. Most of the signings that didn't work (Fisher, Plummer, Petravicius, Taylor-Sinclair), he moved on pretty quickly....

  6. Not wishing to run too far ahead of ourselves but its interesting how many supporters [ of a certain age] are seeing a similarity in style between David and a young Paul Lambert. His poise, guile, distribution and ability to play with his head up are examples given. Some go further saying that David`s comfort in shooting from distance puts him ahead of Lambert who seldom threatened from outside the box. For my part I see the resemblance but can also see a bit of Gary Mc Allister. Whatever, its just a joy to have him on our books.

  7. Criticism is part and parcel of a football managers job and up to the turn of the year in my opinion our manager deserved every negative word written about him . His statement at the start of the season that he would only strengthen the bench put him under pressure right away and the start we made and style of play just added to it .If your honest going to Fir Park became a bit of a chore and the negativity on the pitch spread into the stands and fans who were getting really exasperated came on here to let off steam but such is the nature of the game some of our fans thought he was doing a good job which added to the debate. I honestly believe if we hadn't beat Accies at the turn of the year he would have been sacked but not only did we win but somewhere at that time he decided to change our playing style ,job pressure or not you have to give him credit for that .However as he said himself he got the cup game all wrong and that's why we have a free Saturday coming up but the change since then has been a breathe of fresh air. Giving the young players a chance is what the majority of the fans have been waiting for and you can feel the positive attitude towards the team now from the stands . We will see ups and downs till the end of the season but if he continues to give youth a chance and we keep playing the way we have been recently then I wouldn't expect to read much criticism of the manager on here

  9. I think that the picture regarding next year’s squad is becoming clearer, but that it does depend as much upon what the out of contract players wish to do, as what he club wants to do. It seems pretty obvious that ATS and Newell are going. I would offer new deals to Gorrin, Grimshaw, Main, McHugh and Cadden., on the assumption that not all of them will take up the offer. The players on loan are a different situation. I would love to see us sign up Aldred andthink that we have seen enough in Ariyibi to at least try and get an extension to his loan period. If we manage that, then we may not need Frear. McCormack would need to get fit and prove himself this season before Iwould consider extending his stay and, while not a hater, Sammon will surely be gone as soon as the loan period is up. The Tanner situation is all dependent on his recovery but, if he passes the necessary physical tests, I would be pleased to see him offered a new deal, both on the grounds that we know he has potential and the moral standpoint of helping an injured employee get back into the game. I forgot about Mbulu. I would say he has potential so, as long as he is happy to be patient and learn his trade, he is worth another deal.

  10. Wonder what Rodgers and Celikman Tom Boyd would have to say if that wee twat of a ref had a performance like last night against them. A baffeling set of decisions for a very very poor ref.

  12. I’ll miss him on commentary when he’s back playing, he’s the best of the bunch when it comes to the color commentary.
