  1. He did more than a decent job. Turnbull, Hastie and Gorrin transformed the season. And while Gorrin could be rash he was 45th on the leagues worst discipline list compared to McHugh who was 3rd. Gorrin didn't do the flashy stuff like Turnbull and Hastie but finding an adequate replacement is going to be crucial to the upcoming season, especially when we play similar level teams.

  2. Fairly comprehensive dismantling of Morton, was 4 going on 5, 6, 7, 8. We should probably reserve judgement until we are playing teams at the same level but in my opinion the standard of player in the squad is much higher than it has previously been under Robinson. From home growns like Maguire, Semple and Scott to the guys brought in like Hylton, Seedorf and Gallagher. For me there are plenty of positive signs there. Even the type of football we are playing, playing the ball out from the back with the centre halves or short passes from the goalkeeper to the full backs, is almost unrecognisable to the type of football we were playing this time last season.

  3. Sampdoria style but green instead of blue.

  4. As much as the minutiae of social media doesn't really matter much in the grand scheme of things, he should probably know better than to get involved in those kinds of games. He's a Motherwell player, we're still paying his wages, and I assume we're footing the bill for him to see specialists and whatnot, so it's common courtesy to leave shit like that well alone for the time being. If and when he signs for Celtic he can like and retweet Celtic-related pish all day long if he chooses to, but someone should probably be having a quiet word with him. If he thinks that what he's doing goes unnoticed by fans of both clubs and the media then he's incredibly naive.

  5. Good to see the majority of the crowd show their appreciation for John Sutton when he was substituted.

  6. Afraid I agree, he’s certainly got huge potential but he’s still not ready to play week in week out at premiership level. I think playing every week at championship level would improve him no end.

  7. I was very surprised by Carroll given the feedback from supporters of his previous club, strong, quick, can pass a ball, gets forward. With a bit of work he looks like he could be a half decent left back for us. A previous poster mentioned the difference from last years early cup games, the football is on a different level entertainment wise.

  8. Win ratio of 43.24% from 111 games, bettered only in recent times by Craig Brown (45.14 from 35 games), and Stuart McCall (45.89% from 146 games). League games only, i'd imagine including cup games would take him above both of them as he's reached the final of 50% of the cup competitions he's presided over. He's also one of only 7 Motherwell managers in history whose sides scored more than they conceded over the course of their reign, and one of only 7 whose sides won more games than they lost over their reign. So aye, Robinson oot.

  9. While not the finished article I think he’s ready to be competing for the striker starting position. Bang in a few goals against Dumbarton and Annan and his confidence will be sky high and he’ll be ready to go in the league.

  10. Dumbarton shipping six to Morton and then four to Queen of the South, sides who we've put 4 and 3 past without reply. Nil-nil written all it over on Tuesday hasn't it?

  12. The incident where he gave a drop ball because the ball hit off of him still baffled me. Is this a new rule brought in this season or something? As many have said thought it was a good season and if we can play like that more times than not this season then it’ll be a very enjoyable one to watch. Thought Donnelly was good personally. Covers ground, puts a tackle in, plays the simple pass. He’s most likely not on the same level as Gorrin, but on our budget we’d be doing well to replace like-for-like. Feel like he’s going to be this year’s scapegoat the same way as Fitzpatrick was for example. Speaking of Fitzpatrick, saw him in the ticket office before the game. Speaking of the ticket office before the game, also saw Colin Calderwood there. He’s currently head coach at Cambridge and had the tracksuit top on, I wonder if he was up watching his old player Carroll or if he had an eye on someone else who was playing last night...

  13. Personally I think that Scott needs 6 months at championship level Yip he did ok against QOS and Morton but if were honest there are still a lot of rough edges to his game that need to be ironed out When the league season starts he is going to be playing against better quality centre half’s than what he has done up till now

  14. Cheers, I've signed up . I was well off the pace last time round although if I can't forgotten to enter predictions for so many games.

  15. Remember too that Stranraer should have won in normal time and missed a couple of sitters. My worry about this seasons team, besides the 'Gorrin' position is at centre back. I like the look of Gallagher in the two matches we've seen but I'm not Dunne's biggest fan, as I've said before, he's fine when he can depend on pace and strength to defend but when he comes up against technically good players he gets hung out to dry and then behind him if there is an injury is Hartley who's not good enough either if we want to improve on finishing around 7th/8th/9th. With teams like Kilmarnock, Hearts, Hibs looking like they might be going backwards as well as a hardly formidable St. Johnstone side, I think we have a decent shot at finishing Top 6 this season but I'd like to see another centre back come in because you can't go through a season with one strong centre back. I know we've probably spent our transfer budget at this stage but if I could have one wish come true.....maybe I'll find an eye lash.

  20. Gorrin did a decent job for a few months but people seem to forget he had a knack of going to ground in the tackle and picking up too many yellow cards. Not saying Donnelly is necessarily the answer, but let's not turn Gorrin into Ngolo Kante....

  21. Managers are only as good as their results. If we lose the first five league matches he'll be under as much pressure as ever. Personally though I'm pleased he's put into place all the things I said he should have done a year before he did and that we are all the better for it. Perhaps I should charge a consultancy fee? For the record Robinson's actual league record is 32 wins from 88 for a 36% win ratio. It should be noted though that his win ratio has been pretty low prior to 2019. Since then we've won 10 out of 17 with the emergence of Turnbull playing a big part in that..

  22. For Fulham, I think. Goldie scoring against Mr Banks in a Stoke team boasting Mike Pejic and Jimmy Greenhoff?

  26. We should be fully supporting anything the club can do to eliminate the weirdos that are grown adults wearing football tops at any time other than playing 5's or going to a game. Not allowing these people to buy one before their holiday has clearly been decided at board level, and should be applauded.

  27. My point was mainly tongue in cheek, but the amount of Celtic content he's liked and the number of tweets from their fans saying they'll see him in January or similar he's also liked, would suggest that his head may very well still be along the M74. The media have already seized on his 'likes' when the move was going ahead so I wouldn't be surprised if they do so again if Celtic need the pressure put back on publicly.

  30. Summerlee Museum in Coatbridge has an original Motherwell C&A shirt on display (in use between 1913-24). Excuse the quality, however, here’s a quick snap of the shirt in question.
