Easy win at half pace. Best player in the first half - Polworth - was taken off at half time and that took a wee bit away from us until Hyltton and Scott came on as subs and pepped it up again. Sloth came on and looked decent. Fair play to Donnelly for the goals but most likely the goal run ends here and we'll need to concentrate on his ability in his actual role. Was disappointed in Ilic and Seedorf today and we definitely missed Gallagher and Campbell today despite the easy win. And I'll say it again - James Scott should be starting matches as our first choice striker.4 points

I've committed to going in all guns blazing on this now and it's too late to back out.3 points

Manzinga - what a name. He could be absolute shite, but to have a player who sounds like a porn star is a new high for Motherwell. We are also assembling quite easily the coolest looking squad in the division. Key move was to get rid of the ginger and bring in the Zinga!3 points

Hi there, My name is Sean. You may have seen me on the video the club put out a few weeks back: I'm new to the area and new to the club and have set myself the task of tracking down the Motherwell kits from 1991 onwards. I'm documenting my progress over on Instagram if you want to give me a follow - https://www.instagram.com/steelmansean/ Always on the lookout for kits (especially the Hummel home & away and the black Pony away kit), so give us a shout if you are willing to part with any. Likewise, if there's any kit you are trying to track down yourselves, do let me know and I'll keep an eye out! Thanks, Sean3 points

1. Who’s this polsworth guy he seems pretty poor man that’s 2 people said that. 2. That new guy we signed LIAM POLWORTH is a tidy little player I like the look of he was excellent vs Morton, got stuck in and very nice on the eye when in possession.2 points

Not sure if this has been posted, but an interesting analysis of Curtis Main's career, his time with us and what he might bring to Aberdeen. The jist of the entire article is that he's fucking awful. https://www.modernfitba.com/blogs/2019/6/10/rate-my-transfer-curtis-main1 point

Was always going to be a tough game for Seedorf. His strength will be getting in behind defences - never easy when a team beds in around the box.1 point

A good win against poor opposition. Liam Donnelly must be the most improved player I've seen in years. Grimshaw too had a really good game . Polworth has a lot of room for improvement and Long is crap I'm afraid as bad a number 9 as I've seen at FirPark. Every ball played up to him was lost. Young Scott looks a real prospect but we really are crying out for an experienced target man.1 point

The idea the footballers are conspiring to finagle complex (and dubious) contracts is laughable. Most of them would struggle to work out how to get a free coffee from a loyalty card scheme (maybe a little harsh). Much more likely an agent/manager says "I've got a deal that lets you play for Oxford and maybe a shot in the MLS. Do you fancy it?" "Aye, sounds good"1 point

Didn't Raymond Blair help dismantle Dumbarton in a 4 - 0 Cup win at Fir Park one January night in the 80s? We were the form team in the First Division and Dumbarton were SPL strugglers. I remember we were playing against a howling wind in the first half and thought if we kept the score respectable we could take them in the second half. We went in 1 - 0 up at half time and ran them ragged in the second half.1 point

Connection to the 1991 Cup winning team in that Dumbarton photo too in the shape of Bobby Holmes.1 point

Our original ‘Tailored by Umbro’ late 50s/early 60s ‘floodlight kit’ had the claret section on top of the amber, it also had hooped sleeves. Hooped sleeves are a feature that I would have liked to have seen added to the recently released shirt. In my opinion it would have made the shirt more unique to us and a proper homage to the legendary Ancell babes.1 point

I understand that perspective David, and respect your view. But on the one hand you make it sound completely straightforward - the player must look out for himself only and the 'home / development club' relationship means nothing. Then at the same time you draw a neat moral distinction - loyalty is fine if you're a better player like Turnbull or Tierney, but its not for middling propects like Cadden. I think that shows that it really isn't straightforward at all, and we know that even more fashionable young talents like Turnbull can suffer a career ending injury at any time. Football is an emotional game, and a players relationship with their boyhood club often does mean something, at least to the extent that the fans might hope the player would avoid the kind of 'legal swindle' we have been victim to. Development fees already assume the club has not obtained value, it's no more than a minimal compensation for the years of investment and coaching and Motherwell reasonably deserved that, in my opinion. Not saying Cadden is a bad guy, I'm convinced he isn't, but it's disappointing nonetheless.1 point

As a supporter of the new away top my one slight disappointment is that we didn’t take the opportunity to reinstate the full hoop that remained unbroken between 1928-1969. I’m hopeful that this once traditional feature will one day become the norm again.1 point
