  1. I think there is a fair chance you'd catch him

  2. I don't mean to be horrible as Lasley has been great for Well over the years. I can't help but think he's been part of the problem - unless he makes significant changes to personnel or formation I suspect we'd get more of the same.

  3. He's been out of the team long enough for everyone to think he's a good player.

  4. More than 6 wins in a year? Half decent football? Players with a professional attitude? Any kind of entertainment value? I'm surprised Robinson went now and I think he was due a few more matches but while things can always get worse it's pretty negative to assume that they will when the worst was looking very likely anyway. The whole 'let's blunder along and accept anything that's not total failure' attitude is one that I think has infected our thinking in recent times and needs to be curbed. And if we do get relegated Robinson had half a season in charge and will have to bear half the responsibility. He only accumulated 17 points and put together a squad that is pretty uninspiring. If his replacement can't better Robinson's points legacy we will definitely be in trouble. In the meantime I'll hope, probably in vain, of getting in a manager that views Motherwell as a top level professional club rather than a kick and rush lower league outfit. Motherwell FC should be a lot better than they are right now. We need someone to come in and raise the base line standards. They haven't been good enough for a while. On Stephen Robinson, I have sympathy for him but at the end of the day he's left because he's recognised before a lot of others that things simply weren't good enough.

  5. Well Robbo's critics will be delighted. Just be careful what you wish for, because there are many unique challenges at Fir Park that will require a skill set not found in many potential applicants. Could easily end up with a Malpas or Baraclough again. Or worse, a Gary Holt.

  8. If they couldn't get the players motivated and hungry in the last year as the assistant manager and first team coach what makes you think they have what it takes to change things??. I am not having a go but genuinely concerned that the players will not give a shit or change their attitudes with the same staff.

  9. We've just lost a manager whose style of football bored the pants offs, we dont need another like him.

  10. Frankly I don't see any new manager being as good as Robinson. It's been a poor first half to a season which began with high hopes but has descended into what may become a relegation battle. This smacks of Hearts last season when they fired Levein and expected anything to change. It didn't and they were relegated. I believe they would have survived if they had kept Levein.

  11. Oh, I've seen us play. That's why I said it obviously isn't working out for us at the moment. But we have a good squad of players. A few duds need shipping out, and someone who can partner Watt up front and score goals is needed.

  12. Was thinking the same thing. The only bright side to this is that he played on for a spell and then walked off. Fingers crossed its not serious. He's been through enough.

  13. The next 2 Saturdays will be the acid test as to whether Las and Ross were part of the problem or if they were as frustrated as the fans and had no real say in tactics or line ups We will either come out the traps flying because a weight has been lifted or we will get more of the same. Whatever happens will tell us a lot about the players and how we approach appointing a new manager.

  15. At our level, a lower/middle ranking Premiership club, we are never going to be successful by playing open sexy football. We simply cannot go toe to toe with the league’s top sides. If we want any measure of success on the field, it will have to be founded on character, physicality, hard work, organisation and tactics. We can look back to the likes of Tommy & Jim MacLean. Teams founded mainly on being hard to beat but absolutely dire to watch. What talent we have will come through the youth system. In our current predicament and in the short term we need to steady the ship by whatever means necessary. Make sure the good ship Fir Park remains in the Premiership. Then longer term develop our youth system to feed sales, as we have been doing successfully for a few years now. For me, until the end of the season we need to build from the back and make us hard to beat. Forget about playing attractive football. Excitement doesn't equal points on the board. These factors should shape our search for a new manager. Maurice Ross and Keith Lasley will hit the ground running as they know the club and players, if they are appointed, but what role have they played in the team’s demise this season? We just don't know. The club will probably take a different line as it has done in the past. Interesting times.

  18. THEN the list get scary. Tommy Wright is everything eye bleedingly wrong about Scottish football. And I think I hate Craig Levein more than anyone ever in history.

  20. Agreed,I love las but he is part of the problem,he's assistant to the manager that's just had to resign as results and performances have been nowhere near good enough for about a year so he has to take a share of the blame.i can see him maybe being kept on to work with a new manager like leitch was with mcghee but giving him the job at this time would be a huge mistake for me.

  21. I know more about coaching than Faddy . A great player but doesn’t have what it takes to be a manager.
