  1. Was hoping with Trump gone all the QAnon pish would disappear but, nope, alive and well and flourishing in deepest Motherwell. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

  2. Now, that offered a bit more reassurance! Regardless of circumstances I'm always of the belief that a point away from in this league is no bad thing. I think to get a point tonight though, on the back of the last two results and performances lifts some of the pressure that's been building and the performance offers some belief. It would have been absolutely lovely to have got the win both to help with the current predicament and to ram it up them for the Covid-19 carry on, but even though it wasn't a win it feels like a goods night work. In a broader sense I enjoyed the fact that reading beforehand I was seeing St Mirren fans saying they were now back at full strength and how they couldn't see anything other than a home win tonight. Well, that full strength side with top six ambitions and all looked second best for much of that game to an under strength away side but the key thing was to stop the rot and that that we did that with a clean sheet was a real boost. A lot of players stepped up out there tonight. It doesn't quite give us a security of a seven point advantage over the bottom two that was a possibility beforehand but I would hope that performances of that standard and if we can continue to eek out the wins and draws we had have been doing, the Hamilton and St Johnstone abominations aside, should see us all right. Encouraging.

  3. Great result. The whole dynamic changes again a suddenly we look like a team who could sneak a result or two before the split. The BBC analysis of a few days back would have it that three points will see us safe. I think we may need just a few more than that to be sure. Ross County's epic run under Jim McIntyre in the Baraclough playoff seasons shows that it is possible for bottom sides to put heroic runs together. My wish for tonight (forlorn as it is) is that the branding of players being pish and shite before they have even kicked a ball be tempered somewhat. Jordan Whyte is proof that given a chance these boys can perform and make a difference. Roberts tonight, Lamie tonight the same. They are not professional football players for no reason. A good night all round.

  6. Take your word for it - like your claim the contract clause removal was announced at the AGM, when it wasn't? Or that last Christmas, Robinson was definitely fucked because of CCTV footage, when he wasn't? Or that John Hughes will never work in Scottish football again, because of appalling accusations I won't even repeat here, when he's now at Ross County? I know it's all a laugh, but some of the shite you spout on here is quite damaging.

  8. At least we beat the ref, who was murder. Have to say the maligned Roberts, Crawford, McGloire and Lamie all looked decent, as did O'Donnell. Clean sheet is great!! Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

  10. Maybe our tactic that worked tonight is start playing guys that after named are Scottish food products.....Crawford (biscuits), Campbell (soup), Rikki Scotch Lamie and Tony McKellar Watt!!!, if only we had a playmaker called Andy Kwenchy Kup !!! Lol

  11. A lot of folk on twitter annoyed at Johnstone being dropped. He done okay on Saturday, nothing more nothing less, he turned 17 about 8 weeks ago, we need all the experience we can get on the park just now, he will get plenty of chances, we need points on the board first. Not the time to be chucking boys in at the deep end, whether you agree or not O'Donnell is the sensible approach.

  13. As 2/6 tae get in said "I may have missed something on here previously ( due to the shit you have to take sometimes on this site i don't always trawl through the vitriol before posting (Silly me eh)) but i have checked team stats for the past few years and as I thought Barry Maguire is always listed as a defender, So why are we not playing him as one . Is that too sensible. ? I seek forgiveness in advance if i have offended any of the usual demigods of all things MFC on here by daring to post this" Some sense at last. Back to when the youths played Ross Co in the whatever cup it was, Maguire was outstanding at centre half, especially when his centre half partner was red carded. For some strange reason, Robinson decided to convert the boy to a midfielder. I don't remember him starting a single game as a centre half in the first team. Lasley could have done the club a favour by telling Alexander that Maguire is the 2nd best centre half on our books out of position. Meanwhile we field a set of mediocre , at best, centre halves. The latest Macgloire looks no more than a right footed Zak Jules

  15. ODonnell played in a kind of RWB/RFB role for Scotland and from memory did well in the more forward position so why not keep young Johnstone at FB and play ODonnell in front of him.

  16. Defo watt for polworth but playing more central in a #10 role. Ive been shouting this for ages the space between our midrield n front 3 is ridiculous, Magloire is the one with pace t burn is he not?with that surely the defence can squeeze up the park n allow midfield t get further forward..we need t try something different surely

  17. Hughes - that's not what you originally said. Robinson - that's not what you originally said. Gallagher - that's not what you originally said. Backtracking to try sound reasonable after initially talking shite.

  20. A much improved performance with a bit of determination and with a bit more luck really should have won it. Shows you how bad been we’d been that an encouraging point away to the best St Mirren side in 30 years can give us (false) hope. 1 point from 9 and 1 goal scored (a penalty at that) v Accies, St Johnstone and St Mirren is a pish poor haul though and still needs us to take a minimum of 4 points before the split. Some of those points need to come v Killie also.

  21. We either develop the youngsters in the first team knowing they will make mistakes (but gain experience) or we don't. I know which approach I prefer.

  22. Polworth will be finished as a Motherwell player - doesn't offer enough. Long - should only play in the traditional no 9 jersey. Either Cole or Long but not both. Crawford works hard and a decent squad player - no better or worse than Grimmie.

  23. I haven't been a big fan of Crawford or Lamie, but I thought they were both solid today. Lamie in particular as he had to deal with Magloire feeling his way into the game, which he eventually did and put in a good performance himself. The key was sticking to the basics and not asking the players to do things they cant do, and as a result we looked way more organized and composed. I was worried that we would come into this one shell shocked after those games, fair play to Alexander for setting them up to grind out a decent result.

  24. Considering we were all expecting a scudding tonite I'll take that all day long. Lamie had a good game ( expecting to get slaughtered)

  25. 11 players working hard is a huge upgrade on the previous two games and should calm a few nerves. Our attacking play is still very poor.

  28. I particularly like when he miscontrolled the ball by the line and it went out of play. Jock and Lewis. Maguire is better than that. Yes Maguire is better than that twice or three times they proclaimed. Actually no he is not I am afraid.

  33. If Gallagher and the numerous others are all genuinely injured (including the new signings) then fair enough, I have no reason to doubt it, even if the timing was unfortunate in Gallagher's case. Probably a consequence of Covid and the restrictions being in place for so long, but there certainly seems to be a feeling of a disconnect between the Club and the fans going by many of the comments here. That could also be down to having a poor season too. What I will say is if we don't see Gallagher again this season, as well as some of the January signings then people will suspect that the Club aren't being entirely honest with them. That might make fans less inclined to stump up for watching games next season rather than holding the Club to its commitment on season tickets purchased for this season. I'll be honest though, I'm more pissed off that we have a senior player, and an international at that, telling me after 2 embarrassing non-performances that if we don't win games it's no drama. At a time when fans are looking for any solace available that is a real kick in the balls.

  34. I suggested earlier in the thread that the club and Gallagher should be able to negotiate a contractual solution agreeable to both parties. Maybe I'm the source.

  36. My worry is Alexander will swap O’Donnell for Johnstone and everything else will be the same. Surely McGinley is an option? He’s not looked any worse than anyone else when he’s played.

  37. well said - I back you for manager. it's also clear Watt isn't a goal scorer - the #10 role is plain and obvious and frankly we can't afford both him and Polworth in the same team at the same time.

  38. Everyone sees things differently and everyone is entitled to an opinion . There are plenty who disagree with your opinion regarding O Hara but whilst not the best player in the squad he is by no means the worst. Your personal dislike of the guy is plain to see and I was thinking that he may have shagged your bird in the past , but I would have him in the team as part of a back three.

  39. Supposedly, but he's managed to hide it really well. He also seems incapable of heading or kicking a ball properly.

  40. I agree 100% with this. I think what we see as lack of commitment, lack of effort, poor attitude is simply a lack of confidence. I think Long and Polworth are in that category almost certainly this season and it does not take much to filter through a team. It is a vicious circle that can be difficult to get out of. Think of playing a game of 5 a side with your mates. One week everything comes off, you see passes clearly and make decisions without thought. The next week small hesitations make you look like a clown. Multiple that feeling by a factor of 10/100 and you have the pressures of the professional football player who in fractions of seconds is making decisions than can make him look like a superstar or a total dud. The beauty of football is that a fraction of a second can cultivate a moment of genius or a career changing mistake. They say that dreams last just a few seconds. In football, in these blinks of an eye, one players dream can be another players nightmare.

  41. As mentioned, with O’Hara it’s concussion related. Grimshaw has had glandular fever. Smith - knee, Foley - back & Nolan - calf.

  43. Here we go, another deflection back to Robinson. It was all Robinson's players this, Robinson's players that right up until about half-time in Dingwall. Not a peep thereafter about them being Robinson's players when they won three in fairly quick succession. We lose to Hamilton and lo and behold suddenly we're back to it's all Robinson's players again. We are to believe that Alexander is going to relocate his family lock, stock and barrel a couple of hundred miles up the road having knocked back several jobs beforehand because they weren't suitable but is happy to accept a position at a team struggling near the bottom of the table where he he has little or no say in half a dozen players being foisted on him. Really? We really think he's going to take on the job in those circumstances? He took over on something like 7th January. Smith, Nolan, Magloire, Roberts and Foley were all signed at least a fortnight, some of them three weeks later. And they are supposed to be too far down the line to stop? Laughable.
