  1. Like a few others have already said, I only knew Andy through his input on this forum. As this is the internet, you would be within your rights to say that I didn't know him at all really. So why am I sitting here on the other side of the world feeling both sadness and a sense of loss? I think it must be because, in a world of instant communication and unfettered opinion, where trolls and howling loons seem to be the norm, he represented a different style, being unfashionably reasonable, knowledgeable and prepared to let others hold differing opinions, and all done in goood humour with a dry wit that never failed to raise a smile. This place will be the lesser for his passing, but this is just the internet so of no real account. Our loss is certainly nothing compared to that of his friends, family and loved ones, those who really knew him, and to those people I extend my sincere respect and condolences.

  2. This is such truly sad news. I just want to add an example of my interactions with Andy_P, because this thread is painting a wonderful picture of what a kind and considerate gentleman he must have been. I'd never had the pleasure of meeting Andy. However, he contacted me, a total insignificant stranger, via PM when he read one of my posts about the League Cup final. When I explained that I couldn't make the final because of my poorly grandparents, he insisted on getting my address so that he would send a program from the final to them. Then, months later, when we reached the Scottish Cup final, he again contacted me via PM to check on their health and to see if we would like him to send a program from this final too. God bless him.

  3. I hope you all don’t mind me borrowing the club account for a personal post… I was devastated and shocked to learn of Andy’s passing. Like many of here, I have been lucky to have known him for well over 20 years, be it Supporters buses, exiles, away days and trips, fanzines, FPC, Well Worth Saving, the Supporters Trust, WTFC and so many others - our paths crossed so regularly and he was always so helpful and supportive of me when I needed him. The comments and tributes about his personality and character are so apt, he was a gem of a guy and a top ‘Well fan. I’ll miss him very much. My thoughts are with his wife Angela, his family and close friends at this terribly sad time. Rest easy mate. ‘Flow

  4. I’ll be surprised if they’re even quoted. Their coaching appointment shows the path they and their 120% wage to turnover ratio wish to go down.

  5. I’m really saddened to report that long-time forum member and much-respected ‘Well fan AndyP passed away suddenly last night. A very good guy and I’m sure even those who didn’t know him can tell by his posts on here how sound he was and how much of a diehard Dosser he was. Rest in peace, Andy.

  7. Really sad news. Thoughts with his friends and family. I didn't know him but I always looked out for his comments after every match. His writing was brilliantly engaging both on the forum and elsewhere. I'm saddened to think there won't be any more of it.

  8. Absolutely gutted to hear this very sad news. Got to know Andy and his family through the excellent Exiles Club he ran for many years. Stayed at the family home a few times and reciprocated the favour when he came down to London to watch Motherwell at Baldock Town and Southend in the early 90’s. A top top man who was first on the phone to me when I was ill recently. I’ll miss the football banter big man, RIP your daft English pal.

  10. Absolutely gutted to hear this news. For an exile, this place has been absolutely vital for keeping up with the goings on back home and Andy was always the poster I respected most, always calm, measured and fair when hotter heads tend to prevail. I always put a lot of stock in what he had to say as a result and always appreciated the thoughtfulness he put into his posts. As I alluded to, when you can't go to games, his insight was invaluable. He always came across as a thoroughly decent bloke and I'd have loved to have sat and had a pint and a chat with him at a game at some point. Yet another reminder that life is temporary and fleeting so live hard and love hard. My thoughts are with his family and friends right now. RIP Andy, you were one of the good guys and I'll miss you. 11. Really saddened to hear this. One of, if not the best poster on this site. I used to enjoy reading his post match analysis after every game. Condolences to his friends and family.

  12. Trying to get my head round this, was only speaking to him on here a couple of days ago. True loss of measured views, always fair and always strived to include as many on here as possible. Fitting that he "won the day" for his last post on his last day. Frazzie, I'm sure you'll pass on the groundswell of sympathy that will grow on here to the family. If there are plans for something to commemorate him in any way please advise.
