  1. Unfortunately, I cannot see us finishing above 10th. We’re kicking off a season without the centre halves we badly needed and a creative midfielder that we’ve been crying out for since Turnbull left. I fear the first round of fixtures will Be a complete write off for us. Another turgid, shite season incoming I fear.

  2. A very good article on sky sports about the involvement of the club in the local community we should be proud of what being achieved, a fan owned club for the benefit of all the fans. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11796/12366284/motherwell-chief-executive-alan-burrows-on-well-in-scheme-that-puts-community-at-the-heart-of-the-club

  3. It's the "punching above our weight" patter that annoys me the most. There's a hundred good reasons a club with less resources can field a competitive team, and classifying it as "punching above our weight" is patronizing at best. As for the league, it's impossible to predict what our team will do this early in the season with a stack of new players and more to come. Far too soon to write us off or have us in the top 6. The way things are structured now, you typically don't get a feel for things until September.

  4. We might be able to figure it out from the next set of financials. Pure speculation on my part, but I'd guess we gave up a large chunk of a future sell-on to QPR in order to bring him in cheap. With a 3 year contract, we'll sell him on (with his international caps) after year 2 and pass on most of the profit to his old club. Simple The fact that it took a "long period of negotiation" to arrange certainly made it sound like it was a bit more complex than a free or small-fee kind of transfer.

  5. It's not really remarkable that we've been in the top flight all this time. We have the 7th/8th largest support in the country and a budget that goes along with that. Out of a league of 10/12, it makes sense. Dundee United/Hearts/Hibs yo-yoing is down to very bad management rather than the law of averages. What's more remarkable than us not being relegated is that we haven't won a trophy for 30 years despite 90 available opportunities being available.

  6. I've been a huge fan of the Macron kits since they took over but these are really cool. To have Adidas on board would be amazing.

  8. Is protecting our top flight status, the "Welcome to our great we club" patter for the over 30's?

  9. Gallagher was never a bad player but the way he conducted himself was awful. I never understood the abuse of Tait and especially Hartley - two guys who clearly gave everything on the park and who's attitude was never in doubt.

  10. I read it is now only one seat distance so our 4500 ST fans will be accommodated relatively easily between the 3 home stands. I also saw Flow say there will be a number of general sale tickets over and above the normal walk up crowd for a home game. Granted this is a different game and like many I did not make League Cup home games. That plus free season tickets are just that. Free. 2000 Hibs fans would equate to £40k plus in much needed revenue. Edit to add - would there have been an extra 2000 Well fans that would have attended ? Then there might be a gripe…chances are Hibs will sell out that allocation where we might not have sold extra 2000 tickets on top of 4500 season ticket holders…. So in summary I doubt any ST fans will miss out. Yes there may be some Well fans that would have liked to have gone. They will just have to be quick when the General sales comes about.
