Playing Maguire and Donnely in the same 3 man midfield is utter madness.

If we had any sort of creativity or cohesion in the final third we would have comfortably won that game. Woolery was poor, and always too tentative on the ball, and Sheilds worked hard but was constantly a yard to late to get onto things. Roberts looked the most likely, but he also had a tendency to hold onto the ball too much. We had this problem with Watt in the team as well. We need to get Van Veen on the park for as many minutes as possible, bit he also needs to bring others into the game when it's the better option. For the most part the makeshift defence handled the long stuff fine, but solholm has the tendency to do weird things, he needs a solid player beside him. I had no issues with the midfield. Maguire tried to put his foot on the ball, and not resort to mindless punts, and for me was the better of the three. Tierney looked tidy for his spell, and was unlucky not to score. It was great to see Donnelly get that goal after all the time out, on his bad foot too.

For me the front 3 have been poor, not sure were the Roberts love is coming from. we cant hold the ball up at all. Look like a front 3 that have never seen each other before

I'd take Woolery off at HT for KVV and go 4-3-1-2 with Roberts in behind the front two, he's basically playing there anyway. And Slattery for Donnelly.

Aberdeen are bang average, they are so far having a worse season than us, nobody said it would be easy but we have nothing to fear from them, we've already beaten them in the league recently so we are more than capable of repeating it in the cup.

Slattery made a huge difference to our play when he came on and today showed how important Van Veen is to the team. Morton were well organised and made it very difficult, but we won so I am happy!!

Just past experiences with us in Cup games. Ross County, Inverness etc. We need to get this done today. Anything, ANYTHING less than a win and progression is totally unacceptable. We are a top flight side playing at home against a lower league side, we need to win. I’not interested in the “romance of the cup” or it being an entertaining spectacle for the neutral fan or a great advert for the Scottish game. I would really like both of those to sign new contracts,alexander said a few weeks ago that new offers were on the table so we have to assume that both of those have been offered new deals.for me we will need to use any money that we get for watt to bring in a replacement,it would be crazy not to and could undo all our good work in the first half of the season,as things stand van veen looks to be the only one that could score on a consistent enough basis and we can't just rely on him,the way he is he could be suspended at anytime.
