The Police were the stumbling block. I was told they had already drawn up their rosters based on a Sunday match and placed officers on leave on the Saturday. To minimise wage costs as the try to avoid Overtime payments. That could not be forcibly changed so the only option left was for an overtime shout. Those costs had to be met from somewhere and Rangers were asked to stump up, perhaps by Motherwell and/or the SPFL. I can only assume they agreed so then the game was belatedly moved.
I have no objection to the game being moved to assist a Scottish club in Europe.....after all we may well benefit from OF success in Europe..... although I get that some fans will be disadvantaged. No doubt some fans are also disadvantaged by a noon Sunday kick off and any other game that is rescheduled for SKY. But I do think the Club should and could have communicated better. But perhaps I am just not as bitter or Burrows obsessed as some on here.
Absolutely spot on. I am around the same age as yourself and I never thought I would see us win a cup and play in Europe. So the more the merrier in my opinion.
Yes lets play Airdrie and Queens Park thats a proper pre-season. Iwas 36 years old before we qualified for europe and every time in europe is to be coveted in my book.
A team that refused us any tickets for our first fixture this season and who's fans attacked a women's game at our ground only days ago. Yet we are doing the usual doormat act to benefit the usual people.
We should be doing nothing to help them.
It’s absolutely nothing to do with who it is. It is the hundreds of Motherwell fans who now cannot go because we have once again sucked up to another club with no regards to our own fans. Changing a game with four days notice? Gimme a fuckin break man.
If Aberdeen or Hearts had asked I’m absolutely certain Burrows would have done what he should have done here, and pished himself laughing and told them to bolt.
The chat about “we wanted more Saturday games” is ridiculous. It is a return to the Boyle days where we allowed the Old Firm to absolutely ride us with no thoughts whatsoever for our own.
I normally quite like the guy but this is just downright pathetic from Burrows.
Delighted... for Jack Ross.
Their chairman's statement says: "“Our hope in appointing Shaun Maloney as a young, highly regarded coach was that he would help us take the club forward, but ultimately it didn't work out."
Just in case sacking Ross (10 days before they played in a cup final) wasn't sufficient evidence the chairman is clueless, he thought a new coach would make a significant impact in 120 days.
Las was fantastic for us over a long, long period.
I'd even go as far as saying that the decision to steal him from under Kilmarnock's noses for his 2nd spell was a historically important one for the club.
3 days notice to change your plans for the weekend. We are getting shafted. A joke for people who have made arrangements based on the game being on Sunday.
Burrows not as outspoken as he was at Christmas about fixtures. It's obviously a good chance to get back in favour with Rangers and MFC and the supporters get shafted again.
I'd rather a proper preseason and give ourselves a reasonable chance of a positive start, instead of traveling to the arse end of nowhere to get beaten by absolute shite
