  1. Can't agree more!! The boys need a bit more than a couple of games to prove themselves!!
  2. Top 6 will do. 3rd place would frankly be a miracle after the rebuilding JG has and will have to do but you never know with Motherwell. Decent cup run would be greatly welcomed.
  3. Welcome to Fir Park Giles. Keep the signings coming JG! I am looking forward to seeing what other faces he brings in and also looking forward to the start of the season!
  4. Motherwell is the team you want. I agree that the team picks you, not you pick the team. My dad took me to my first Well game when I was under a year old and I have been hooked since. Rangers and Celtic are a no go as there is too much sectarianism for young boys. Motherwell are a family club and the Well fans are very welcoming and loyal from what I have seen in my 15 years as a fan. Motherwell have ups and downs but when you have the ups such as winning a cup, it is ten times sweeter with Motherwell than it is with the Old Firm.
  5. Hope we do get to play Bucharest. Will be a great game for the Well fans!!
  6. I agree with what has been said. We have what seems to be two unknown but extremely good signings by the sounds of things but we still need a few more players through the door such as a goalie, one or two strikers (a mobile penalty box player as someone put it is perfect), centre mid, centre half and a right back.
  7. Hope this other team offers a bit more than £800,000. Clarky is worth more than that.
  8. I can not go to either home or away leg as I am on holiday! Damn UEFA for making the games at such an inappropriate time! Can make second round though! Come on Well, beat Llanelli so I can see you in Europe once again!
  9. Cheers Kyronical. Quinn, Clarky and Reynolds all possibly going, not too sure where we will be able to get replacements from. I know we have Murphy who can take Clarky's place, Saunders can take Quinn's and either Hutchinson or Page can replace Reynolds but who would back them up if they got injured? We need new players as we have such a small squad and the loss of these three does not help matters. To be honest we need a couple of centre backs if Reynolds goes because McLean is away too so that leaves on Craigan and the two youngsters, Page and Hutchinson. We also need a centre midfielder if not two, right back if Quinn goes and a striker.
  10. you have four good managers on that shortlist. sanchez has premier league experience but has been out of the game for a year, boothroyd got watford promoted to the premier league, gannon took stockport to promotion to league one and staunton has managed the republic of ireland national team. would happily take any of the four to be honest but the outstanding candidate for me is boothroyd. Here is a quote from the BBC website: Boyle will make his choice from the four candidates over the weekend, with the new manager being named early next week. Hope John Boyle has someone in quick as we have a very important match coming up.
  11. Will be sad to see Clarky go, I thought he was in it for the long term but we need the money I suppose. £800,000 for a player of Clarky's standard is maybe slightly below what us fans would have liked, was hoping maybe the bid could be bumped up past the £1 million mark. Also heard a rumour that Quinn is wanted by Hearts and a couple of Championship teams. Can you help me out an confirm this is true??
  12. we will be the first ever scottish club to have 5 match officials, am I right?

    Mcghee Era

McGhee and Leitch were a brilliant partnership. McGhee had good links with other teams (but to be frankly honest he did not use them to their full advantage) and Leitchy knew half the Motherwell boys through playing with them. I agree that McGhee should have let the youngsters get more of a game such as Murphy and the likes of Saunders, Hutchinson and McHugh. Also he should have made brought some subs on in certain games at a more appropriate time. Other than that he brought us 2 years of exciting football, a team on the brink of relegation up into third place and 2 years of European football. Who was the last manager who done that?
  14. being a youngster maself the only true legend i can remember is Uncle Phil so i nominated him
  15. pretty sure you are bang on the button there
