  1. Thank goodness there are still Motherwell fans who appreciate the achievements McCall has brought to the club. I agree 100% with you that anyone wanting him to go is a fool and knows nothing about the financial state of our club, the resources available, the position we could be in without him. Do they really believe we could improve? I've been going to Fir park for 50 years so please trust me when I say that we are seeing some of the best results, performances, league finishes in that time. Yes cup performances could be improved, but I struggle to think of a time in the past 50 years that I would swap for the past 3-4 seasons. The derogatory comments and some of the language used to describe McCall as a manager is what I would expect from certain other west coast fans, but is that the type of fan that now goes to Fir Park? Have they been spoiled with top 3 finishes and European football? I was 34 before I saw Motherwell win a cup and qualify for Europe, dear knows how some of our fans today would have survived watching the 'Well during that period, losing every Scottish/League/Texaco cup semi-final, no Europe, relegation. Please do not think that I believe all is perfect with our club, the cup performances have been shocking/substitutions questionable etc but this is nothing new, they were in the past too. Push McCall out the door and we will regret it.
  2. I'll accept that the three could make an impression but I don't think their squad is strong enough to finish in the top 6. I think I saw enough of Faddy last season to say that his days of 90 minutes of quality football are long gone and I don't think his limited playing time will be of any great benefit to Thistle. Higginbotham will put in a 5 star performance one week and be anonymous the next. Spoke with a Jambo friend who says that Stevenson has difficulty maintaining fitness over a season now.My predictions:CelticAberdeenDundee UtdMotherwellSt JohnstoneInvernessRoss CountyKilmarnockDundeePartickHamiltonSt Mirren
  3. What have you heard/seen that suggests Partick will finish 5th?
  4. Wait until the smoke has settled? Are you serious, this type of result has happened far too often in both our long and recent history, there is no need to wait. The team were clearly unfit to play 90 minutes last week, yet all of us knew when we beat Aberdeen last May when this tie would be played, so why were plans not laid down to ensure match fitness for 17 July? If the club is short of money then there was absolutely no need to go to Portugal and if I get a telephone call from anyone at Fir Park tomorrow about renewing season ticket or updating my Society membership the caller better be ready with some answers to my questions, the first one being why the hell should I put more money into the club?
  5. 3 times we've failed to hold a lead.
  6. Agree, shocking performance from the captain.
  7. Surely you don't suggest that that performance doesn't deserve all the criticism.
  8. You are 100% correct, nobody could disagree, an overall shocking display. I don't want to hear any excuses about lack of fitness, we were playing a team 2-0 down after 20 minutes and quite clearly there to be beaten 4 or 5-0. We may lack pace as some said at the game but that doesn't hide the fact that we are too slow in passing the ball whether over 10 yards or 50 yards. Keith Lasleys' forward passing is as it always has been atrocious, together with his ability to hit the target, he's a ball winner on the field nothing else. We can't have any complaints about the penalties. I get so frustrated seeing too many of our team managing to miss the target from less than 18 yards when not under any great defensive pressure. Why oh why can't we win games comfortably against poor teams and that is exactly what Stjarnan were on the night.
  9. I assume that nobody is old enough to recognise these cards:)
  10. Why is there so many harsh/negative comments about Ronaldo on Shoutbox?

  11. Hello Folks, I'm looking for confirmation of the issue year/sets of the following Motherwell cards. Thank you.
  12. Link to updated Motherwell memorabilia. http://s533.photobuc...58b5d5.jpg.html

  14. Please don't blame the stewards for the lack of any action taken whilst the seats were being damaged, the blame lies squarely on the shoulders of senior Police officers and the football authorities. Stewards don't get paid to deal with the obvious violence they would have faced had they attempted to eject anyone from the area in the south stand. It would appear that Police policy where crowds are involved, particularly large football crowds is to watch/video/identify and attempt to make arrests at a later date when it is less likely to cause any problems than if they made their moves during a game. We might not like it, and I don't, but in the interests of safety I can understand it.
  15. In my opinion any Motherwell fan who shouts abuse at a player wearing Claret & Amber or Stuart McCall is a disgrace. I don't agree that if you pay your money that you are entitled to verbally abuse one of your own team, it helps absolutely nobody. The idiot in the main stand, a guy I assume, shouted something that annoyed the manager in the last couple of minutes when Anier lost possession when trying to run the ball towards the corner flag at the north end of the main stand. Stuart turned around, looked up to where the person was and appeared to mouth "what, what". At the end, he again turned in the direction of where the shouting had come from and pointed at his head as if to indicate that guy shouting was an idiot. No matter what was happening on the pitch verbally abusing any player trying his best is utterly pointless and shouting abuse at McCall is beyond belief. 2nd position, 5 league home wins in a row, what do these clowns want? You are not going to get silky football every game, winning is what it's all about. The negativity towards some of our players and staff is unwarranted. In Fir Park Corner someone by the tag of Yazz posted the comments below. I have no idea the posters age or how long he has been following Motherwell but he needs to get a grip of reality. Yes Aberdeen appear to have improved but them aside, would any 'Well fan swap places with fans of Hibs, Hearts, Utd or Killie. I have been following Motherwell for 50 years and for those younger than me please trust me when I say that the last 10 years or so are amongst the best. If you can't have some enjoyment out of top 2 or 3 final positions and Europe qualification then go follow Hibs, Hearts or whoever but if you're a true Motherwell fan get behind the team and enjoy the roller-coaster. Granted our record in cup competitions could be better and our European games have been dire but it isn't going to get much better. This is life as a Motherwell fan. Yes you can criticise/argue/disagree with team tactics/selection but enjoy it while it lasts. I've too many bad memories of relegation fights and defeats to lower league teams that losing in Europe may hurt at the time but not half as much as losing to Alloa and the rest. Yazz quote "Our duggout is tactically inept and what happened to plundering the English lower-leagues ? Law and ****kall else imho. Motherwell, ICT, St johnstone have struck it lucky of late. With Rangers gone, Hearts in turmoil, Utd and Hibs and Killie tightening the pursestrings and Aberdeen being clueless, this wee tightly run 3 have been very fortunate to take advantage. This wont last forever. If the Byns survive they'll be back with us in 2015. Aberdeen have already turned the corner - and the potential resources at Hibs Hearts Utd Killie will always far outstretch ours so they wont be more shyte than us for long ------ and then our day will come".
  16. I appreciate that everyone has different opinions as well reasons for buying a match day programme but I believe that to have 13 pages (12 readable + 1 picture) on the opposition and 14 readable about your own club is unbalanced. The programme had 66 pages consisting of 1 page of officials, 1 of racism article, 2 of sponsors, 3 of quizzes, 10 of pictures, 17 of adverts, 13 of Hearts and 19 of Motherwell including contents/photographs/fixtures. Of the 19 relating to Motherwell only 14 had readable articles. I understand that many will feel I am fussy or raising a topic of little interest, but I read or hear more than enough about other teams in the newspapers, television, phone-ins etc. This is not a criticism of the club or Curtis Sport, who as I said at the start of this topic have improved the programme greatly, but I thought that the amount of print given to Hearts was too much.
  17. 1) Wonderwall (Oasis). 2) Real Love (The Time Frequency) 3) Forever in Blue Jeans (Neil Diamond). 4) Discoland (Flip & Fill feat. Karen Parry). 5) Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now (McFadden & Whitehead).
  18. Before I start I would like to congratulate Curtis Sport in their production of our much improved match day programme. However, one minor moan, todays' issue v Hearts had 13 pages dedicated to Hearts. I don't mind reading an update about the away teams recent form, injuries etc but 13 pages is about 9 too many. I understand that this is not the most important topic on this site but I just had to voice my opinion and a wee note will be forwarded to Curtis Sport.
  19. Other than the football authorities and the bans the bookings cost our team what does it really matter if we are top of the disciplinary table. In the days of Joe Wark, McVie, McLaren, Miller, McAdam, Stevens and their like, bookings were more often than not justified but now far too many bookings are unwarranted. Bookings don't necessarily mean a team is dirty, too many referees are quick to produce cards for challenges that in years gone wouldn't have seen a free-kick awarded. Maybe that's the refs fault or those officials sitting in judgement in the stands or at Hampden. The game has gone 'soft' like so many players in the game today. Sorry for sounding like an old timer, but I am. Hope that chancer Brines isn't in charge today v County.
  20. Don't know if this link will work but it gives an idea on what Kuban fans are saying about us. http://fckuban.ru/news/5179/ If you use Chrome or Google it should translate from Russian to English.
