I know. Hence "I thought". Don't get me wrong, he wasn't alone in having a bad day at the office. Spittal wasn't great, Bair (although starved of supply) didn't do much other than his goal (and yes, I know if a striker scores a goal every week and does nothing else, you'd take that).

For me, O'Donnell, Gent and Zdravkovski were the best of a bad bunch...

Yeah, just saying that it is a game of differing opinions. I agree that Gent and Davor got pass marks. In fact, i gave my vote to Gent. I don't really remember SODs doing much wrong and he did have a nice assist for the goal, but not enough for my vote.

Disagree that scoring goals has been our problem.

Yeah, that isn't the point that I'm making. We can score against teams that open up a bit. Especially those that play high and leave space behind. What we are not good at is taking penalty box chances. There were multiple half chances  today that were not finished because we don't have an instinctive or natural striker.

The VAR decision was in the 43rd minute. As harsh as it looked we were already behind at that stage and deservedly so. We then had an entire half of football to get back level but we never looked like we would score.

“We don’t have anyone that can convert half chances”.

You’re right there. And that is why we lost today and deserved to lose, because if you can’t score goals then you don’t win football matches.

I understand the point that you are making, but it is a very black and white view of things. By that logic every team that loses any match deserves to lose, regardless of the circumstances. I'll view it on the balance of play, chances created, etc. and let's agree to differ. A draw would have  seemed a fair result to me.

No arguments there, we deserved to lose.

I can't agree with that. We weren't good enough to win, but we certainly didn't deserve to lose. Far too passive in the game in the first half, better in the second, but no real goal-scoring forwards is a problem. We don't have anyone that can convert half chances. A draw would probably have been the right result.

at home we should be setting the tempo, not sitting off teams.  We've seen it so many times this season and you know what, if you do that you don't win.

Exactly this. We give too many teams the initiative in games.

Had to give it to Jack Vale. His introduction at HT for me was the change in our fortunes. He’s constantly running and wants to be positive when he gets the ball

Exactly this for me. Vale's energy and pace disrupted the Livingston lines. Something that we were incapable in the first half when we consistently played sideways and back.

  7. Once again, a very slow start handing the initiative to the opposition. This set the tone for the game. No intensity in our play. A half-hearted press on occasion that was easily played through. Apparently, no game plan other than to sit back and punt the ball when the opportunity arises. It is almost as though the team and the manager don't see any way to score with our striking options.

Only when we got Biereth on the pitch did we seem to show any urgency and a little belief that we could go forward with purpose.

I'll also add that the team look drained of all confidence. While the football isn't pretty and often frustrating, we really need to get behind them, because they are all that we have.

  8. It was good to get a point and stop the run of loses. It was also good to get a point from a seemingly lost cause at 2-0 and then 3-1 down with so little time remaining.

What a difference the introduction of Biereth made. Just having a forward with pace and power and a willingness to run beyond the backline completely changed the dynamic of the game. His whole mentality seems to be that of a winner. Even at 3-3, while half the team were away celebrating he grabbed the ball and was urging the players back to get restart the game and chase the winner. Great to see from Biereth, but also a bit of an eye-opener for the team and the support. Rather than celebrate a point, we should be looking for 3 from that game. I hope that some of that desire and urgency rubs off on to others in the squad.

I think that we saw our best first choice forward pairing in Biereth and Wilkinson today. For me, they are the best chance that we have of scoring goals. I hope that they get some game time to see if they can form a valuable partnership.

A special mention for Brodie Spencer who I thought was our top man. I have no idea why SK thought that subbing him was a good idea.
