No need for the exclamation! Arteta has played Tierney as a wing back a few times! Including in FA Cup games last season!

    For, example in, the Semi!

I don't make these things up!!!!

    !!

I'm not sure how you're managing to miss this but the point isn't that Tierney can't and doesn't play wing back, it's that he won't for Scotland because that's where Robertson plays. Tierney will play on the left in a back 3. Robertson won't play LB as you said, because we don't play with a LB.

If anyone is going to play wing back it will be Tierney, as he's played there are few times for Arsenal.

I can't see Robertson starting anywhere except left back. (But then again, I couldn't see McTominay playing in defence).

Wow, that’s some seriously sharp analysis haha.

Always a horrible game and certainly one I don’t mind missing. Never easy but Livi have gone backwards slightly so no reason we can’t pick up a point or two. It surely can’t be any worse than our performance there last time which had me thinking I would be happy to never attend another game at the place.

There’s quite a big reason why we won’t pick up two points tbf.

Barraclough must give a hell of an interview.

Last I looked NI U21s hadn't won in 6 games and were second bottom of the group on 0 wins.

Over all record: Played 19, Won 9, Lost 4. Not a bad record at all for a diddy nation. That, the continuity factor and his record at Sligo Rovers have obviously done it for him. Happy days for us really.

  5. You’d imagine with Campbell going into the last year of his deal we’d have a decent idea if he’d sign a new one or not and if he won’t then we’ll be looking to move him on. I can’t see him penning a new one personally but what do I know. In that scenario the O’hara transfer is an absolute no brainier.

I don't see it as discussion, my opinion is constant criticism, so there is my point. We are 3rd in the league and player's are still getting panned, as I said you couldn't write it, oooops you do. All player's make mistakes whether on a grand a week or 500 grand, just enjoy the positives and you'll look back and say, you know what they player's did us a good turn this season.

You do realise the irony of your only contribution being moaning your tits off about other people moaning, yes?

We would still the half million training compensation.

So it's transfer offer minus compensation versus the value he provides on the pitch in terms of league position and cup runs. If the offer is a million or less it's probably better to keep him.

We’re third without him playing. On field performance will not come into it at all. He is the clubs big pay day.

I'm not so sure he'll 100% be away this summer. He is absolutely dynamite and the club know it. Given we are now debt free if we get an offer of £750k or something I can see the club turning it down and keeping him until his contract expires.

There’s a few things that could happen in the Turnbull story. Him leaving on a free is surely not one of them. There’s no way the club is letting one of, if not the biggest playing asset they’ve ever had leave on a free/compo deal. Don’t be silly.

He looked slow and tentative on the ball to me. There was a couple of times he took the sting out of our attack when he received the ball. Like seedorf, he’s showed glimpses, so there’s plenty of opportunity to prove me wrong. It will be interesting to see where we stand on the crop of wingers come the end of this season.

He came on, scored a goal, should have had a penalty after using his strength to win the ball and drove into the box and generally looked capable of keeping the ball under pressure at a time when that was exactly what we were needing. By no means the finished article but he’s playing for Motherwell, sakes. Really not sure what you are expecting?

It’s a game all about opinions but it’s hard to get away from yours being wide of the mark here.

Seedorf was fine, he made a couple of mistakes but works hard enough and took his goal well. It’s good to see him grow in confidence and improve. he’s clearly still learning, and I’m happy to for him to do that if he can keep scoring goals like that. I’m more worried about Hylton who looked woeful despite the nice finish.

Scott is on the verge of really breaking out, it’s easy to forget he’s just turned 19.

I forgot to mention Polworth, who I thought was solid again, and is becoming a key player for us. Donnelly also improved in his general display, but the hibs midfield was only as strong as the paper they look good on, which may have been a factor.

I’d echo the earlier comment that hibs look like a side that’s trying to get their manager sacked, and he’d probably deserve it for selecting Whittaker.

Out of interest, how did you come to the opinion that Hylton looked woeful when he came on? Seems like a wild take to me but there we are.

Go to all the games mate ,here's a wee tip for you take yer claret and Amber glasses off and look at the whole game not just our good bits no good playing for 30 minutes when game last for ninety .Love to have come on here raving about a performance but there are players already who have shown there not good enough for this league .

    *they’re. HTH.

  12. Was Seedorf injured or just knackered? He looked absolutely done after 35 mins.

Very good majority of 1st half and very poor all of the 2nd. Far too easy for Celtic to score some of those goals but ultimately they have much better players and thats what makes the difference.

In desperate need of a striker to step up and make the position their own.

In my original post, I was distinguishing between the City clubs and the rest. Apoligies if that was not clear. Getting in amongst the top 5 seems to me like a big step forward. 6th place is really best of the rest.

Turnbull would provide the extra quality to help us break that ceiling,  hence my prediction. Only one place in terms of league position but a significant one.  Hope that clears it up Londonwell.

    Certainly does.

For me, the season ahead is going to be defined by the fortunes of David Turnbull. If he returns fully fit and showing the form of last season and if we can then keep him for the season, I think we have the makings of a strong top 6 side. It will always be very difficult to displace the city clubs so 6th place would be a big step forward. However, if Turnbull is fit and playing I think we have the squad to break into the top 5.

So my prediction:  with Turnbull 5th (splitting the Edinburgh teams), without 6th

My other prediction is that we will lose our manager. He must be starting to show on the radar of clubs down South. If we have a strong start to the season and are top 6 by Christmas, I think he will become hot property. So a top six finish with a new manager by the end of the season.

You think our season will be defined by the future of David Turnbull, yet your predictions with and without him only have a difference of one league place and both are in the top six?

Did we not screw with a club when we signed Coke?

Aye, seem to remember there being a stooshie at the time about that one. We also exploited a loophole with Chris Porter's transfer, which Mcghee admitted to at the time.

I obviously hope we get cash for Cadden but we aren't really in a position to grumble too much if we don't.

On a slightly different note, I thought it was massively unfair when Celtic signed Lewis Morgan in January and loaned him back to St Mirren where he was instrumental in securing their promotion. Seemed like St Mirren played the system there too (in a different, but significantly advantageous way).

That barely raised an eyebrow in most quarters, so I'm not hopeful the Scottish authorities will back us in this one.

Not sure i'm following you with this one. Wheres the foul play in that scenario (perhaps i'm missing it) ?

Virtually every company on the Earth has a fully functioning, targeted and paid for social media presence.  It's easy advertising to increase site hits and customer interaction.

I didn't say it wasn't, in fact, I actually run social media channels for a 'company' so fully aware of how these things work. My point was more that the club has a very clear social media strategy and hooking up with a company who is so successful on that platform is only going to increase that exposure.

Would it be hypocritical if we banned sponsorship from a gambling firm, but continued to promote the 'Well Lottery?

This is where banning things gets tricky.

It is tricky, you’re correct and it’s why I said over on P&B (appreciate you may not read that forum) that I can’t expect the club to base their policies on a idealistic world view of a supporter such as myself.

I think the whole debate as to whether or not Gambling/alcohol sponsors should or shouldn't be allowed is quite a dangerous subject, i'm sure we can all agree we would rather they weren't involved but the effects both have on everyone can vary from none at all to the absolute extreme. I for example have never had any bad experiences with gambling or know anyone who has so I don't see a huge issue with having a betting company on the kit other than personal preference as it doesn't steer me towards gambling etc however I can appreciate there is a flip side to that, without knowing what it is, the sponsor will really not sit well with people.

You not having a gambling problem isn't  a particularly good argument for not objecting to gambling sponsors throughout football tbh.

I said my piece over on P&B so won't say too much here but there is a faint whiff of hypocrisy of pushing suicide awareness etc. and taking coin from companies who, in my opinion, purposely ingrain themselves into deprived areas, where these problems can be prevalent.

Was convinced we'd won a watch with Lee Lucas after he ripped Ross County apart. Thought he'd basically turn into what David Turnbull is now.

I still maintain that Iain Vigurs was totally misused and was one of the best midfielders in the league at the time in the right setup.

Vigurs is mad for the bevvy. Out in Inverness smashed all the time.
