I see the curry club over in Pie and Bovril have been slating this forum. Quite ironic as many of them were having meltdowns last night that would put this thread to shame. I just find that an odd place as many of them enjoying being bedfellows with fans of other clubs. Anyway it has been quite a frustrating window esph with the injuries and recalls but in saying that if we managed to get another forward in I would have been quite content with the business that we have done.

Some reports now say that Dan Casey is going to sign a new contract.

Fair enough if true but Scott Burns is generally quite accurate with his news and it hardly screams lucrative to bolster Bohemians mid-season for the short term but again that term lucrative doesn't necessarily just mean they can offer more cash or such. Obviously, we can only take it at face value but another poster suggested eariler that Casey has told the club he won't be returning.

Apparently, Bohemians have put in a better offer for Casey than we did, plus other Scottish clubs have been sniffing about, but his pref seems to be a club in England, according to Scott Burns.

Apparently, they both enjoyed a daily dram after training much to the annoyance of McLeish. We also seemed to be in a dispute with their former club for months before Fifa decided they had to return to the previous club, then a short time later they both signed for Darlington in the old English Third Division. I actually thought Resch looked fairly decent, Dorner not so much. I still can't believe the career McLeish enjoyed in management, took every penny and more from the Phil O'Donnell transfer and signed some real duds.

The league fixtures are announced tomorrow. Plus we have our other friendly on as well.

It'll be interesting to see where Fletcher ends up, you would assume that he would have signed for someone before agreeing to his Dundee United departure as he was on a decent wedge by all accounts, not that he's short of dosh by any means. I'm undecided on whether I would be happy or not on the signing, I think he would be great in that Obika/Mandron role but obviously, that has since been filled. He won almost everything in the air in the two games against us in the latter part of the season but he annoyingly liked to fall on his hoop a lot. Who was the last veteran we signed? Gordon Marshall must have been pushing 40 but outfield I think David Kelly must have been 36 or so.

Good luck to the guy, it's his career. Personally, I think he would have benefitted from being more of a regular starter here for another season as he enjoyed his most consistent run in the side since Kettlewell took over. Just on Wellfans point, it does seem a bit underwhelming to be linked with the likes of Preston North End and various League One clubs to then land at Harrogate. Hopefully it all work's out for Dean but I can't say I'm overly gutted about his departure.

When Gordon was fit, there were a few occasions where he could have given Kelly a few minutes in friendlies but opted not to do so, you would have thought with Gordon's age it might have been wise to give someone at least a cap to see what they could do in case he got injured or decided to call it a day, hindsight is great obviously but we ended up in that position where our keeper choices had no caps between them. I mean he even gave Scott Bain a handful of caps. As you stated, convincing a guy who was slagging the international team not that long ago must have been a kick in the tadger to both Kelly and Clark and showed them where they rank in the scheme of things.

McGinn's comments were also interesting earlier this morning as he was chatting about coming back for the pre-season training camp.

Far superior to Lamie and Mugabi to be fair, we all know you didn't like him on the megaphone, he got stick for being slow but was Usain Bolt compared to Ricki. His early partnership with Ojala looked like it was going to be immense but sadly injuries put paid to that. It was some season for KVV, it'll be sad to see him go. You think of some of the chances he missed earlier in the campaign he could have been well into the mid-30s. I liked Penney but he tailed off massively toward the end, I was worried about Furlong being his replacement as he had only managed to muster a few senior appearances before coming here. It's nice to see Kelly get back to form with some fine stops yesterday. Feel bad that McKinstry dropped out of the side, I understand why but he was one of the rare shining lights earlier in the campaign.

Recently they have spent quite a bit of dosh on Watt, the bomb scare keeper, and Levitt and you would also imagine Fletcher and Mulgrew will be the top earners. Can't say I have ever really been impressed with McGrath, seems to have scored a ridiculous amount of penalties up here though.

Yeah against County, the player also seems to be more concerned with blocking Obika and ends up swotting it away with his hand when he eventually loses the flight of it. I’ve not seen the Mugabi penalty back incident back, sometimes it will amaze you what you miss at a game but to me, it looked like he got elbowed in the head by Fletcher, then when VAR was mentioned I was convinced that’s what it was looking at. I’m convinced Fletcher also handled it in the box but I’m going to assume it must have bounced off another body part onto his hand as Willie Collum wouldn’t be missing that. Up until yesterday's game we had only conceded 4 penalties this season and to think one was against Livi where the ball was blasted off of Lamie's elbow from behind from like a foot away and another was against Hearts where Sol's arms were down by his side but earlier in the game they let Sibbick away with the exact same thing. Then more recently it was against Dundee United where the ref gave two different decisions on incidents that looked exactly the same.

Yeah, that's the annoyance for me as well, just the general consistency. You would think it would be a ref's dream to be able to watch those decisions again from various angles and rectify a mistake but they arse it up far too often. Like you say the decisions you mentioned above are frustrating then you get Tony Watt winning an appeal after a VAR review is quite embarrassing, whereas similar tackles have been unsuccessful. Anyway, I actually enjoyed the game but it did have that end-of-season vibe to it, you can see why County are struggling. For a big lad, Jordan White is not very good in the air, probably unfortunate that they lost Brophy through injury. I can't remember the one shot they had on target other than the one that was denied just as the ref blew for a penalty. Spittal had a great chance in the second half when he had acres of space but he opted to try and pass it to VV when it seemed easier for him. Hard to make up my mind who I'd rather see go down, Goodwin for his remarks plus he will take Tony Watt with him, or Liam Polworth his wife, and the Plastic Pitch. Prob both if possible.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the recent form, hopefully, we don't go into holiday mode and it continues on Saturday. Another pasting for the Staggies like Dingwall earlier in the season would do nicely.

Great Memories

A few other former 'Well players on the books with Hartlepool, Peter Hartley joined them earlier in the year and Euan Murray also plays for them, he only registered a handful of appearances for us. Sadly not looking good for Hutchy.

Thoroughly enjoyed the match on Saturday. I felt that Killie was a tad reminiscent of us earlier in the season where the defence was comedy gold and the attack was toothless, even at 1-0 I felt we were cruising to the victory. I thought it was going to be one of those days for VV but some of those touches were sublime. It was a nice feeling to get out of your seat in anticipation of what's happening next i.e the setup to Spittal or Kev gliding past Wright and Taylor on numerous occasions to work the keeper. I feel that excitement has been missing in recent times.

It's a ground that's not brought a lot of joy in recent times, I think it must be going on 4 years since we last won in Perth, I seem to remember Devante Cole getting the winner on that occasion. The games this season have been frustrating as they have taken the lead in all three and while I admit all team's time waste, these fuds are the masters of that art. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a draw or such but it would be nice to get the three points and try to seal that 7th spot in the table.

Looking forward to the game, that's a few times this season it's been an international break then we have been hit with one of the arse cheeks directly after it so it's nice to get back to home turf this weekend, and play a decent bunch of people. After 70 minutes against Killie in December, I was convinced they were going down as we were bossing it despite our woes at the time but then the collective brain fart happened when Alan Power got sent off then the planets aligned for them with the McGinn OG and then the guy that hits powderpuff shots and crosses launches one in from 30 yards, typified our luck as well. A tricky task I'm sure as they will be confident having finally got a league-away win but VV is in fine fettle and I'm certain he will score a goal or two.
