  1. Some good performances throughout the team against a very poor Accies team, Campbell for me was excellent, his tackling and work rate allowed the likes of Tanner and Clfti the time and space to play. Campbell for me is going to have a fantastic career if he continues to progress at his current level.

  2. Conor Ripley's on loan to Bury. Seems to be slipping back down the leagues.

I always felt he was a decent young keeper but got an easier time than other keepers wed had because he wasnt Twardzic or Long. He made a few howlers during his season with us. I certainly wouldnt swap Carson for him.

  3. I'd rate Joe Wark as our best left back since I began going to Fir Park. Joes' only weakness that I could see was his lack of pace. Why didn't he move clubs? I don't know the answer to that except perhaps that he played in a different era with more club loyalty and no Bosman moves. He never got capped purely because of Old Firm bias, which is why I stopped going to Scoltand games. Don't forget too we had Baldy Shaw in the 40s and 50s. Now with Stevie Hammell we've had more than our fair share of loyal left backs.

I agree Joe Wark was the best left back I can remember watching in a Motherwell strip he maybe wasnt the quickest but he timed his tackles so well not many got past him and the old firm bias was what put paid to any chance of a Scotland call up.

  4.

He's about the only one in the full squad who can play a forward pass.

MacLean came on today and played the best through ball of the game and Bowman should have done a lot more with the opportunity. I maybe wrong but it was one of the very few passes played through centrally everything else seemed to be played wide hoping on a cross into the box.

  5. I was quite impreesed by him although he's no world beater. I seem to recall he was a real worker with a competitive spirit and was able to play at full back as well.

If true about Grimshaw, I would expect him to play right wing back but also offers a degree of versatility in being able to play in midfield also.
  6. I am a republican: Kipre for king. He's tough as teak.

Thought we outfought them in the second half and Campbell was excellent again when he came on.

Good move for our first goal and delighted for Bowman. Classy finish by Louis too.

Was it over the line? I'm in the POD.

    Team spirit looks good.

Usual dreadful BBC radio coverage: our game the only one without a manager's interview while Celtic game got over 15 minutes comment and interviews. Aberdeen are top but only mentioned in the last five minutes before Off The Ball.

BBC Sportsound's coverage after the game was shocking it would have rivalled Radio Clyde's old firm biased reporting.

  7.

Walker is a funny one. Looked like he was working incredibly hard off the ball against Rangers, while doing next to nothing on it. Bizarre.

    .

I imagine Walker didn't want to look lazy against his future employer but also didn't want to do anything that would upset them either.

On tomorrow's game, I fully expect Carson and Mchugh to come back into the team. If we play 3 at the back I would rather have Cadden playing right wing back than Tait. Personally I think wing back is Caddens best position and also Tait is constantly found out for lack of pace.

Up front we need to go with a front 2 my preference would be Moult and Bowman.

  8. Suppose it's as good a place as any to ask this question. Don't know if I have missed this somewhere else but I know he was heavily involved with the mascot choice.

What's happened to the Fan Engagement dude Ryan Murrant. Seems to have disappeared completely from all things Motherwell and Twitter. No mention of his leaving though or have I just missed this??

I'm sure I saw him on Saturday standing with the mascots at the tunnel.

  9. Main things from today's match is we have got 3 points on the board and that fair play to Robinson, he's made the changes at half time that were absolutely necessary.

First half was truly terrible and we were lucky that Ross County for all their domination were a bit shot shy. Griffiths did make one excellent save though. I think the visitors will be pretty disappointed though that they haven't put us to the sword in the first half because we were struggling to be 2nd best at that stage.

Second half the changes have been made and both made an impact, I don't think Bowman will ever be a goal scorer but at least he makes the odd run, puts himself about and occasionally holds the ball up, all things Fisher didn't do in the first half. Also Allan Campbell coming on has had a huge impact. Gave us aggression, energy and a bit of thrust in midfield when he came on and as far as I'm concerned he should be our 2nd choice midfielder after McHugh. Bigirimana was very poor today again.

We were a bit lucky in that Ross County missed a real chance in the 2nd half, then lost Andrew Davies to injury, then given away a penalty and got a red card, but we should be happy that we've taken the breaks we got and transformed them into points.

Overall, I think it's still a bit concerning that at 11 v 11 and both teams at 'full strength' Ross County have bossed most of that game and we have been absymal. Think Robinson really needs to give it a serious re-think about what his strongest team is.

Fingers crossed the likes of Griffiths, Campbell and Bowman keep their place next week.

I agree about the 1st half we were awful and Ross County weren't much better we tried our best to give them easy possession. The difference from the start of the second half was remarkable straight from kick off we got into their faves pressing and harrowing, Campbell and especially Bowman really made a difference

We dominated the 2nd half from that point when it was still 11v11. So I don't agree with you that it was them who bossed it.

  10. i seem to remember there being quite a bit of hype about Rohan Ferguson a few years ago for some reason, whether or not it's came to anything who knows.

When Airdie played Dundee United in the cup about 2 seasons ago, he apparently was outstanding and it was rumoured in the press after that game that he would be signing for United.

  11. That makes sense for both parties. He was clearly struggling with injury and it clears the way for us to bring in another player. I'm sure someone posted this rumour a day or two ago.

It will also probably help with our quota for academy coaches with Project Brave.

  12. Aye, I'd like to see what Robbie thinks more or less is our strongest 11, give or take a couple of players. No fucking about.

Pretty sure that Carson, Bigi, Kipre, Dunne, Cadden,McHugh, Tait, Frear, Tanner are nailed down.

At the moment I would add Fisher to that list. I think it's obvious that he's rated well ahead of Bowman. Not sure what will happen if and when Moult is fit though can't see us going with 2 out and out forwards.

  13. Can we set up a separate thread for Well Fans II please? Discussion is starting to go well off topic. We have a game tomorrow; what sort of team should we field? Our strongest 11 with a view to the following weekend or give some fringe players game time?

I would like to see the strongest 11 given game time, but I think the formation, tactics and personnel for the two games will differ considerably, so the best 11 for tomorrow's game will not be the team we expect to start next week.

  14. Club in a tricky situation with Moult. Sell and we end up with a big wad of cash. Keep and his goals could keep us out of the relegation zone and finish the season with a big wad of cash....

But that is where his valuation will be calculated by the club. If they feel £600 k will give us the money to move on and be compensated for the loss of an important player in the last year of his contract that's what any team will have to pay.
  15.

You would think so... Does the manager share that ideal?

After the two friendlies I saw against Stirling Albion and Livingston where we played about 20 players in both games, the one player I came away thinking he was going to be huge for us was McLean, his touch and range of passing were excellent in the short time he was on the pitch in both games and in my opinion he was ahead of the other midfielders.
  16. You should have stopped there.

Do you ever think there's a very valid reason why he's only made 4 starts in almost 4 years, under a succession of managers? A reason why, almost 4 years later, he still looks like a boy playing in a man's game when others have progressed?

Whether you know him, are related to him or simply just fancy him, you need to let it go and accept he's not good enough.

Good post and you have it spot on. I think we all had great hopes for Dom when he broke through initially, but he was never able to progress the way Cadden has. I wish him well at Killie apart from against us.
