  1. it would suit United more than us for the game to be postponed. Makes me wonder how much precaution the home team make in these situations, yes the weather has been awful but it's not a surprise been forecasted all week.
  2. Possibly wait to see how both clubs progress in the Scottish Cup, they may have an option later in the season to play on a Saturday then.
  3. Arrived with Andy Harrow, Andy Dornan was probably the best of the pair.
  4. Our performances and results against Dundee since their promotion has been awful, everytime we've played them I haven't been impressed with them at all but Motherwell have saved the complete cataclysmic performances for these matches giving them easy points. I watched their game with Aberdeen last week and they looked short of confidence and if we can impose ourselves similar to the Hearts game we will beat them with a goal to spare. 2-0 or 3-1.
  5. A lot of good performances today, the return of Hammell and Lasley both made a big difference, Law continues to improve and now looks a good right back. Grimshaw and Pearson both had their best games of the season. McDonald, Moult and linked well and I'm sure the Hearts defence have had easier days. But Johnson was the stand out and he roasted Patterson all game and in my opinion was Man of the Match.
  6. It was a shocking tackle, but the ref did book the player whilst the goal celebration was going on.
  7. I also went along to Under 20 game last night, Lasley and Hammell both played well and the difference when they went off was very noticeable. There is a fair bit of raw talent in the Under 20's but not much that will instantly aid the first team. Thomas stands out but for all the good stuff he does he can be wasteful of the ball at times and also his final ball can be lacking. Luke Watt played as a centre half and his distribution was pretty good and seemed solid enough but the defence lost shape when Hammell went off and after that Watt was getting dragged out of position more but I do think he would be a better option at full back than Johnson or Chalmers.
  8. So you assume a rank rotten Dundee United are "going to get their act together", yet it's all doom and gloom for us. Looking at the two teams since the respective new managers have taken over, I would say Motherwell show much more likelihood of stringing a run together and finding some mid-table mediocrity.
  9. It looks like Mark McGhee agrees with many that Law was our best player on the pitch. http://m.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/13982600.No_slacking_from_Mark_McGhee_s_Motherwell_as_boss_jets_off_to_Barbados/?ref=twtrec
  10. In that case the retake should have been re-taken as players from both sides encroached.
  11. Have to agree, I thought that apart from 1st 10-15 mins we were the much better team, at times the final ball and composure in the final third let us down. Chalmers at left back isn't the answer but hopefully Hammell will be fit after the international break. Up front not sure of our best pairing but I thought McDonald had a good game and we lost our way when he was replaced by Fletcher.

To me the biggest frustration with the BBC is that regularly they will debate on Sportsound on Radio Scotland about the problems with Scottish Football they will put the blame at clubs, authorities even fans. Yet if they gave Scottish Football a platform on a Saturday night at a fraction of the money they spend on MoTD then that would probably do more for SPFL than anything else. It's easy for kids growing up in Lanarkshire to watch Man U or Chelsea on tv, to see 15 secs of Mothewell they need to stay up late on a Sunday night.
  13. I think if we manage to get a couple of goals of an advantage in a game we will go on and give teams a hammering, similar to the Accies and St Mirren home games near the end of last season. I hope this could be one of those games. 4-0 to Motherwell.
  14. No although I did notice we didn't mess around at throw ins just as much today. We just gave possession away even quicker.

    Celtic

Kennedy but hope he gets longer studs in his boots as he must've slipped 3 times that could have been costly.
  16. Another one for me was against Hearts at Tynecastle, late 1980's when Kirky had to play most of the game in goal and we still won.
  17. Probably the cup semi replay vs Celtic in 91. Thought the chance was gone after the first game, you always felt that against the Old Firm you only got the one chance against them in cup games. After a pretty miserable 1st half it looked like that was going to be true again. But 2nd half was fantastic 3 stunning goals and the rest is history.
  18. Good appointment, an experienced manager had some success as manager in the past also had failure which hopefully he will have learned from. Exactly what we need right now.
  19. Surely our new manager will have been briefed that we have to develop our own talent now and they will be getting the job on the expectation of that being carried out. Also not convinced that it's McGhee at this stage about 10 months ago we expected Van Der Gaag to be unveiled the following day.
  20. Have to agree the football committee may select a shortlist but I'm sure it will be Les that selects and appoints the manager.
  21. I'm not sure of the need for someone with "knowledge " of Scottish Football but I certainly think we require someone who understands the level of the Scottish Premiership something that Baraclough didn't seem to do.
  22. I agree that none of the candidates that we are aware of really stand out, Valakari's record in Finland certainly looks impressive but he seems to have been backed financially with a much greater budget than any of the competition. How would he cope with a team on a limited budget compared to much of the competition? To me he is another punt in the dark. I think we need an experienced manager to come in and turn the squad around, similar to Craig Brown coming in after Gannon. Would a Mixu and Valakari management duo work?
  23. [quote name="mio" post="455095" timestamp="1443825338 ......is it acceptable anywhere outside football to call a 40yr old man a nickname?? Yes in the military it's still viewed as acceptable in fact in a lot of cases I can be unaware of their actual name. It does concern me that he is possibly still too close to some of the senior players though.

    Joe Wark

He was to me the greatest Motherwell player that I have been lucky enough to watch, not just his skill as a left back (that should have earned him many Scotland caps) but his loyalty to the club was remarkable. The signed photo that he gave me for my 6th birthday is still a treasured possession.
