  1. I think it’s more who he has around him for many games.
  2. And for some reason that amount of work is not recognised by some. If Slattery had others around him who played a bigger part he’d be a terrific midfielder and up there with some of the best in the division.
  3. He’s the best midfielder at the club, by some way.
  4. He was though of as negative at Salford which did not help him but even they now say they made a mistake in sacking him. In they end for the vast majority of supporters if the team is winning they carry on attending, Robinson’s football was poor but there is nothing to suggest the attendances suffered because of it. I’m guessing if the team stay around midtable or even slightly lower his job will be safe regardless of the football the same way it was under Robinson. As others have said it’s also very early in his managerial career with us and some of his signings have played very few games due to injuries. I don’t like the formation or the football ethos but in the end as always it will come down to results.
  5. He needs to change things full stop. The football and lack of possession will lose him support over time regardless of results, it’s pretty grim to watch. We don’t have the midfielders for the formation and I’m really surprised. he’s still not changed that aspect when it’s clearly not working. Saying that I hate chopping and changing managers because it rarely works, how many time under Robinsons tenure did people want him out because of course the grass is always greener, it rarely is. Nope we need to stick with him for the season and see how things develop. He’s supposedly gone with quality over quantity which most people wanted and as much as I’m sure many will say that’s not actually happened I believe it has.
  6. Thing is Alexander joined us with what some were stating were the worst set of players the club had ever had and he turned it around. I believe this group are stronger but he needs to change things. The formation is a disaster, the tactic of giving away possession not working, and the football is awful. I do however think that on the whole he’s brought in better quality players, he now needs to work out how to get the best out of them.
  7. Time will tell but I believe we have more than enough quality to finish mid table. It’s Alexander’s job to get the best out of those players.
  8. He’s obviously now going to come under pressure after a promising start as manager, however we had this under Robinson and he was given time. Alexander’s going to get the same opportunity this season unless we hit bottom two which we won’t. Any talk of him leaving is pointless because it’s not going to happen.
  9. Bad deflection from goss and 50 games unbeaten.
  10. It’s not about the fullbacks, it’s the mentality of the team as a whole and the possession we are giving them.
  11. It’s been pretty much as you were, we’re giving away possession and playing deep with the inevitable result. You can argue that we were slack at the back for both Rangers goals, especially the second with three defenders against one but with the amount of ball we’re giving them there is an inevitability that they are going to score. It’s still only 2-1 but for me nothing has changed against the old firm, we’re organised on the whole but frightened to death of the opposition and this is where we differ from many other clubs of a similar level who actually have a go at them.
  12. One way traffic with us just sitting back. Only a matter of time.
  13. Ok back to the game and I’m far from confident. I would prefer to see Carroll back simply because I think he offers more going forward but other than that it’s really down to our mindset on the day, we seem to surrender against the old firm before the game even kicks off and I’m worried that’s going to happen yet again. We’re on a poor run playing poor football, giving the opposition the bulk of possession which won’t change today with maybe 75% being Rangers and on top of that we never beat them which suggests this is only going one way. I’m never one for the whole referees give the old firm everything simply because they are just as awful when we play everyone else, I don’t really see any difference when it’s Rangers or Celtic. Given the standard up here I will be happy to see var introduced simply to laugh at how many terrible decisions get over turned. It really will highlight just how poor the standard of refs are. I fear a defeat by 3 or 4 goals today.
  14. I would rather keep a settled side, it generally pays off in the end. As for tonight’s game I can sadly see another defeat. They players pretty well against Rangers and are on a very decent run. 1-3 St Mirren
  15. hopefully against weaker opposition we do ok, we’ve been pretty good outside of the big city clubs.
  16. I’m still of the belief we would see a decent improvement with the addition of another quality midfielder, maybe our budget is maxed out. As it stands thought it’s a tough gig for Slattery.
  17. In all honesty nothing new when it’s against the old firm. They obviously have far more quality but for some reason we continue to be the easiest team in the division for both of them, we just hardly ever turn up.
  18. Personally I enjoy football regardless of the level and always want the home nations to do well. I’m often just as happy standing at an Albion Rovers game enjoying the banter as I am at Wembley or similar.
  19. Are the other striking options for Scotland that good ? I would suggest not. He’s played consistently well in the top flight for way over a year now
  20. Turnbull should get a standing ovation, the respect he showed in signing an extension put those new seats and make overs in the stands.
  21. Are Celtic really that good ?, I’m not convinced they are.
  22. Thing is it is still a work in progress, no reason we can’t carry on improving with the squad we have now plus a couple of additions.
  23. Not sure I would say two men down, maybe if we were looking to finish in the top two. They are probably a match against any midtable and below team but if we want to be pretty sure of a top six we do need another midfielder.
  24. I’m guessing Lamie has a knock, only way he would be dropped for Mugabi.
