Totally agree with you Dave but I'll be surprised if it happens the people running the club are part of the problem. They never acted quick enough to get rid of Alexander, and compounded that by giving him a ridiculous contract extension which ultimately cost the club financially. Then they took the no work required, cheap and easy option to appoint SH another big mistake, sanctioned very poor recruitment to bring in the likes of Morris, Aarons, Moult, Ohjala, Solholm so since December 22 the club has been in freefall.

The situation we are in now is salvageable,  15 games and 45 points to play for but only if we get an experienced manager in ASAP to get the squad playing. But for me the Current board seem equally as clueless as Hammell and if they don't man up and act now we are heading for championship football next season.

Yes, that’s the way I see it.

One thing I would say is that anyone we brought in to replace Hammell at this stage probably wouldn't be the man to bring us back up either, which then means we'd be looking at potentially four managers in two seasons, which isn't a great look.

As mentioned, it's one thing being a team that's not good enough and gets relegated, but it's entirely another thing being a team that's not good enough and that's burning through managers at a rate of knots. That kind of instability will have a knock-on effect elsewhere, including recruitment.

If you're the manager at a club like Brighton or Leeds, are you sending players like McKinstry or Furlong up to a club where the manager who brings them in and agrees to give them minutes might not be the guy in charge within a few weeks or months? That stability as a club has always worked in our favour.

Would an Ollie Crankshaw or Riku Danzaki still be as keen to come here if they thought the manager who convinced them to come and who said they were in his plans might get binned and replaced with someone who doesn't fancy them within a matter of weeks? Football is unpredictable at the best of times, but if we start looking like a club who parts ways with managers days before the season starts, and who sacks managers literally days or weeks after they sign seven players in a transfer window it could cause us issues down the road.

I still think holding on to Hammel and allowing him to sign seven players was a mistake, he should have gone after the Hibs game.

  3. The overall quality of players signed has deteriorated in the last five or six years in my view, the likes of Scott McDonald was technically better than anything we have now, Aldred and Hartley at the back again a different level. If I look back player by player in each position there is no comparison, Christ I would have Ryan Bowman back. St Mirren have half a team of our former players that are better than the ones we replaced them with and have our former manager who knows the level, I can’t believe their playing  budget is that much higher than ours. Add in the wrong managerial appointments and it’s been a step too far.

This squad is destined to go down with or without Hammell in charge.

Could we at least try without Hammell in charge rather than just accepting it ? Maybe we turn it around second half but we’ve surely got this transfer window badly wrong leaving us in terrible position in both central defence and midfield, you really could not have tried harder to make the mistakes.

I hope it runs past the summer window, because with the best will in the world, the players available to us in January are typically B-listers.

Well never a better chance of 3 points than tonight, that should bring a level of optimism that’s really needed just now.

At this rate Hammy and Kerr will need to register themselves to go at least make it look like we have some depth in this squad.

The fear is now setting in that this is indeed our season to go down.

How unlucky have we been 3 attacking players signed and not one of them has managed more than a game and a bit before being injured.

McGinley, Carroll and Bevis also out at the other end.

WIth Sol and Shields gone we need at least 4 players still. 2 to replace them and 2 at least to give us a chance of getting out of this mess.

4 players in 4 hours ? Not going to happen I think.

A minimum of 3 please. We should be addressing central defence (we now have 2 fit players there), a replacement left back (we've known Penney was leaving for some time), and a defensive midfielder (we've all known about this deficiency for months).

    Yep, that’s spot on.

    I wouldn't say it's players we didn't rate.

Carson - much loved by the fans but illness and Gillespie's form stopped him regaining No.1 spot

Dunne - again, popular player amongst fans but injuries made him a liability for a long term contract

Gallagher - great first season but head turned when Aberdeen came calling, ability never questioned but mentality was

Main - filled the Moult-shaped gap after January but went too long without scoring in first full season

O'Hara - concussion meant his performances were fleeting, but was never a poor player for us

Dunn, Gallagher, Main, and O’Hara all took plenty of stick.

Tony Watt in Paisley for a medical , no surprise there.

The sad thing is Robinson has put together a better team than us with players most did not rate, Watt will strengthen them again. I would take any of them over what we have now.

While he did hit a purple patch for scoring I think his ability to hold the ball and bring othered into a play is the main advantage. I’m sure he could set up plenty goals for KVV, Mandron and McKinstrey

That’s the way I always saw him, he does have technical ability that’s better than most in our squad. However given the abuse he won’t be back and if it’s anyone it will be St Mirren.
