  1. Seems very similar to their time here then. Tait was excellent and just about all Mariners fans were upset when he moved on but could well understand why and was wished well. Clay was released by us though and not offered a new contract following our promotion back to The Football League. Many fans agreed with the decision that he probably wasn't good enough for league football, so it was a bit of a surprise when he signed a contract with you. In his time here he was very inconsitant and split the views of fans just like he seems to have done there. Looking forward to seeing a few of you in Dingwall in November.
  2. Hi, Grimsby Town fan here again. Just wondering how Richard Tait and Craig Clay got on for you last season and will they be part of your squad for next season, as I know how many teams seem to have to rebuild their squad each season. It just so happens that I am up in The Highlands for a few days at the start of November, which just so happens to co-incide with your visit to Ross County, so I'll be popping along to that for my football fix that weekend. I take it I'll be okay just to turn up on the day and pay on the turnstile, rather than needing to get a ticket. Good luck for next season.
  3. The majority of the games he played for us I'd say he more of a defensive midfielder, breaking up play and allowing fellow midfielder and club captain Craig Disley to get forward, He did score 2 or 3 goals for us and these were long range efforts from outside the area whereas Disley manages to get forward more and usually weighs in with about half a dozen goals per season.
  4. Have to say that I'm rather surprised to see Craig Clay get a 2-year deal with yourselves. Our manager obviously thought he wouldn't be able to make it in League 2 as he wasn't offered a contract by us at the end of last season. He was a bit of a strange one was Clay. When he first came here pre-season a couple of seasons ago he played a few friendlies and he was poor. I mean really awful, so when our manager offered him a contract, our forum went into meltdown, with his signing being pilloried by just about every Mariners fan. However Paul Hurst had obviously seen something in him that the fans didn't as he improved immensley once the season started and put in some excellent perfomance and played a big part in our promotion season last year. He's not a spectacular player but he's steady enough and will always give you 100%. It will be interesting to see how he gets on with you. How has Richard Tait started the season by the way?
  5. Only just mind. He was born in Galashiels.
  6. Grimsby fan here. Taity should do a good job for you next season. He'll always be revered here as he was part of the squad that finally got us out of the non-league wilderness and we offered him a new contract for next season. He was the player that I am most disappointed to lose actually as he was superb for us last season and was runner-up in our player of the year after Padraig Amond. who scored 37 goals. I'm not really sure how big a difference there is between the standard of The National League (Conference) and the SPL so it'll be interesting to see how he gets on next season. I hope he does really well and I'll be following his progress next season with interest, He's from Scotland and you've given him a 3-year deal so it was a no brainer for him really and he leaves with the best wishes of practically all Grimsby Town fans as you can see from this thread on our forum, http://forum.thefishy.co.uk/Blah.pl?m-1466515729/
