What if he gets injured in his first training session? (I realise this can happen with any signing but if you're paying that much a week its a massive gamble)
Also how do the other players feel knowing the big mental Dutch guy in the corner is on 3 times more than them and he looks half arsed half the time
Any signings a gamble. It may inspire others to reach his level. Done if the on Lian guys will be on good money anyway.

I don't agree. We made an offer and other clubs offered more and he's made his choice and that's it.
If we matched Killie. A similar size club. He may have chosen us as he's played for us before but not to be. Was so hoping to see him and Bair.

Is that guaranteed?
I would imagine if it's us against Ross county or at Johnston. Van veen would be the difference. Look at the draws we had against them.

Killie are apparently paying anything upwards of 7k a week for Kev. Nothing to do with ambition. It's about what we can afford.
It is about ambition and speculating. A proven goal scorer for a few grand extra that we could make back by place in table and cup run. Have also money from players we sold wilkinon and Turnbull.

One league place higher is £65,000. They have Cove Rangers at home in the cup so will be in the Quarter Final draw.
Speculate to accumulate. Van Veen gets them Europe or a semi and they are well up.
Totally agree. We have chance of cup run and higher league place and also extra insurance against the drop. Big chance missed there. He will get them into Europe and longer in cup.

What a signing for Kilmarnock. Was hoping we would show some ambition and get van veen. Maybe get a good cup run or chance of top 6. No ambition or innovation from board.

So is the Motherwell Football Club manager strategy to replace the manager every season for the new manager bounce then sack him?
Alexander got about a year before the support started to turn. Kettlewell has had 9-10 months. A month ago people on these boards were posting Kettlewell's fantastic managerial stats and touting him for the Hibs job.
This bad run started with us running both Rangers and Celtic very close, so we are really talking about the last four games as being the start of the loss in form.
The notion that we have any pre determined right to beat the likes of Aberdeen, Livingston, RC or Killie is unrealistic. If after a season, we find ourselves at the bottom of the league then it may be time to look at a change of manager but are we seriously suggesting that this is the correct decision after four poor games? As a sustainable model for any club that type of strategy is unworkable in the long term.
RC were a whisker from relegation last year and they stuck with the manager. Killie likewise. Is it poor decision making from these two clubs to keep those managers or can we recognise when taking the emotion out of the argument, that these football managers are doing good jobs in difficult circumstances.
The manager of Motherwell has a task that is equally challenging. Kettlewell did a great job to keep us up last season. He has proved already that he has the skill set to turn things around. The notion that we bin him after four poor games is ridiculous.
St Mirren fans wanted Robinson out after a run of bad results early in his time there. Aberdeen fans were starting to voice concern about Barry Robson. He has just won two games on the bounce. It is the fans more than anyone that drive this unhealthy desire for change at the first hint of trouble.
Give Kettlewell a chance. He deserves the support of the fans.
Did you actually watch last 5 or 6 games. ? It's not first hint of trouble. 1 point from 21 is not a hint of trouble. Strategy and performance have been very poor.

Fair rational post. Agree.

When a clubs run like a committee then decisions are slow and we lack innovation. Its run by amateurs. Hope we find a Soudi backer. It's becoming turgid and boring. More difficult to get sons to be well fans. 4 games now I've took my son to against st midden twice killie and livingstone and not even scored 1 goal. 360 minutes of rank rotten football without even 1 goal. Lost all of them. If I subject my son to any more social work could get involved. Van vern prob saved us last season🙂

Thought it was quite a bold team selection from SK today. Wasnt really sure what it was going to look like, but he did what a lot of fans were asking for by dropping SOD, Slattery and Bair.
It was clear from the outset that he picked a team to combat the pitch and try and keep us competitive in the match.
For the most part it worked. We looked more solid in defence and didnt cough up any easy chances in the first half. We made Kilmarnock work for them and they didnt have a shot at goal for the first 30 mins.
Not going to say I was pleased at the style of our football or that we created a raft of chances, but today for me was about playing the circumstances, so I wasnt that unhappy at half time.
That all changed with the goal. We got a warning just minutes before when we failed to defend a cross into the box and the Killie player headed straight at Kelly.
We didnt heed that warning and again got caught in the transition with Kelly spilling a very easy take and none of our defenders making any response to allow Cameron an easy finish.
After that it became very much more open as we yet again chased the game.
It was clear the players were under instruction to play it long, so it was somewhat ironic that our best play and chances actually came when we got the ball down and played football.
Over the piece Killie deserved to win. But it was another game of fine margins where poor decisions from the manager and players have contributed our own downfall.
Thats now 7 without a win. We are still in the pack and a couple of positive results would take the pressure off. But every game that passes without that win will just keep heaping on the pressure.
Tuesday night now becomes huge.
He didnt drop Bair?

McKinsey and Tierney showed fuck all that would indicate they'd improve us. You think they were moved out just to annoy the fans. Although Tierney may be back but If he comes back the same as he left they can keep him.
You think Bair wilko and shaw better?

Disagree. Mckinstry is better than what we got. He scored a few goals and had pace.

We tried Asian market....... remember Danzaki
Didnt give him much of a chance. He was meant to be creative goalscoring midfielder. Just what's needed.

We show no initiative as a club. No thinking outside the box. We could have forged relations with better teams to take thier academy players. Try asian market. Kettlewell has no contacts and club ownership model does not allow for innovation. Like bein tun by a comitee.

Took my son to 3 games this season. 3 x 1 nil defeats and 270 mins without even seeing a well goal. Worst performance today in years. Gifted possession ti Kilmarnock just outside box. Only poor finishing and poor ceossing prevented them scoring more. High balls up in direction of strikers appeared to be our plan. Most of time not passing to a well player. Really bad recruitment in Bair and Wilkinson. Bair lacks skill and is not a goalscorer. Wilkinson has no mobility. Turns like an hgv lorry. Need changes soon. Hope we can offload in January. Even my sons tram played better and hes 11. Kilmarnock full of hatchet men too and didnt give mwell an inch. We had no response to it.

Wake up and hit reality ffs, kVV is allegedly on 10k a week at Groningen, thats 520k a year for 1 player, that's probably more than the entire squad budget For his season, oh and he did not want to stay.
He did want to stay. We show no ambition as a club. We wont speculate. And take it to next level..Gamble yes but what we got is mediocre. Club ownership not working.
-
We dont know how much van veen was on but surely we could have done better in recruiting. If we got mika. Why not another on loan forward from higher league.
-

Do you honestly think Van Veen was ever considering staying?
Yes if we gave him enough and platform. Showing some ambition for a change. Van veen and mika would be dream combo.
-
Need totally revamp of attack. Why did we not put money invested in keeping van veen. Club models a joke. Amateurs running a pro team dont work.

Disgraceful against a poor Aberdeen side. Poor show. Paid to watch that too. Kettlewell had no answer.
