It seems that none of our Scottish media chums on yon Twitter thing know how the share of TV revenue generated by the SPL is split between each club ? Can anyone on here enlighten me please ?
Mr Spiers says............
Re SPL reform. Walter Smith's point is that Scottish football may die if Rangers + Celtic stay. He thinks it best for SPL if they leave.
And then contradicts himself with this.
The Old Firm are certainly a 'gravy train' in terms of Sky or ESPN. Put it this way: without them, TV is not interested in SPL. No mention of the % of TV revenue shared between each club.
Derek Rae is at least honest...........
Sorry. Don't have any answers.
Also asked him the following question, Big two get extra money on their travels via TV, others suffer lower attendances as a result. How many live games per season in Glasgow ?
His answer was 8.
Whilst Richard Wilson (Herald) agrees............
True, but then smaller TV audience when Ibrox/Celtic Park is full. TV is income, so it has an influence. Otherwise, 16-team SPL
He also goes on to say about 16/18 team league.............
Like everyone in football, but TV want four Old Firm & Edinburgh derbies, hence 10-team league. W/out TV income, clubs bankrupt. No mention of the % of TV revenue shared between each club right enough.
