  1. your 'just do that' reminds me of the best tactics I ever know as a Well fan. Get the ball to Cooper Get the ball to Faddy Get the ball to Turnbull Just do that - happy days.
  2. I think this is one of the worst squads I can remember - each season the quality ebs down to a new low. I don't think this is specific to just us but blooming heck it's been grim. The best thing about is is we're all together, working for one another - there's very little quality on show. I'm not comparing to last season but more pre/post Dawes. He may or may not be the issue. As I see it majority of perm signings are poor, not enough youngsters coming through, loan signings become more and more important. Stop signing so many journeymen from lower regions of England. Get more young blood coming through the ranks, by reducing overall squad go out and get some quality .
  3. Lots to like. A 3-0 away win at the Jambos to stretch our unbeaten run to 20 games !!!
  4. queue a centre half role for Halliday
  5. Believe we'll finish 8th or 9th. W1 L1 D3 would be a reasonable assumption.
  6. It’s quite difficult to get enthused about the rest of the season. our brand of football hasn’t been great - it’s more been about the fighting spirit but with little to fight for it’s a struggle to get too excited for remainder of this season
  7. I was keeping hopes alive of a top 6 but like a few have said we really don’t deserve it as the table shows . agree with comments re spittal and any other player we know won’t be around - it’s time to rest them. It’s not that they’ve downed tools but we can now use the time wisely to test out players who we may want around and also give some of the younger players some game time . I have empathy for SOD . He’s been a target for many since the day he joined , like everyone in our squad he has flaws and makes mistakes but he gets singled out more than most. That being said we should look to the future and can’t see him and a few others being first team starters.
  8. In terms of Summer recruitment - I'd seriously look at the head of recruitment role ahead of any players. Daws has been with us for 3 years and I'm struggling to see the value. Prior to him he picked up a few players and sold them off for very decent fee's - not been much of that since his arrival. Add to that the current first team and who we'd keep that he's signed on a perm. Spittal & McGinn certainly but given we've signed dozens of players there's not been many that have fitted.
  9. Im not sure its about form. It's more teams have sussed him out and attack the obvious weakness.. He's a very good shot stopper but poor with crosses, particularly in the 3-6 yard line. It's poor management that knowing our captain can't deal with crosses we've not added centre halves Feels like an age since we had likes Aldred, Hartley or Gallagher who all gave much better protection.
  10. Give this man is job in recruitment Completely with you. We need A keeper who commands his 6 yard box would make a huge difference. Central defender who won the first ball and organised us. Centre Mid by the name of Alan Campbell would be awesome . We've got too many journey men and most can leave. Our better signings have been loanees - the likes of Gent and Vale - more like this please. Ideally sign them but if not another season loan would be great.
  11. Loving the comeback and it gives us another glimmer of hope that we'll make top 6. The issue for me is the spine of the team. A strong keeper, centre half, centre mid, centre forward are always key. The first 3 are missing. We never dominate midfield and teams put in cheap crosses week in week out where we concede. I don't know how the inner workings of the club work but I don't trust Dawes to be the man to lead our recruitment
  12. "We also deeply concerned for the welfare of all players ahead of this match" If the pitch is a midden be interesting to see what we do. Not sure I've ever seen players walk off and refuse to participate but ...
  13. if there's any justice in the word the game goes ahead and we skud them 4 -0.
  14. Good to know they're putting supporters at the heart of their decisions. Completely agree - utter nonsense sums it up.
  15. From what I've picked up if the game get's postponed it will be moved to a neutral location on Sunday or potentially closed doors Monday . I've got some empathy for Dundee here, not that many years ago we had similar issues with our pitch
  16. very sensible way forward and completely onboard with this. It's a complete nonsense that someone who's 10-12 points could adrift could end up being promoted. If that was deemed the appropriate way forward for promotion - them same would need to apply for relegation, which no-one would ever sign up for. Overall the Scottish game is like a slow painful death and becomes more amateurish as each season passes.
  17. Was thinking likes of Callan Elliot, Nicholson, Moses should all get some game time. Hopefully Adam Montgomery recovers and gets a few games. Young Ross , Ferrie + Wells are the younger ones who've been in and around the squad.
  18. We're in a position where 1-2 wins will likely see us safe. The youngsters/squad players who we have a chance of being first team regulars we need to start giving them game time. Players we know are leaving start reducing their game time.
  19. McGinn and Casey I'd keep. Completely agree we need someone as a leader in the middle of those 2. Similarly we need to replace both wingbacks - unless we can keep both Gent and Divine. Defence has been an issue this season - I honestly feel the midfield is our weak link for a few years. But then attack also needs some improvement. Overall we need quality throughout the spine of the team.
  20. When signing players in their 30's they need to be of a quality that we wouldn't have been able to afford in their prime. The issue for Halliday, Nicholson (who's 29) I think is the Jan window. Players who are kicking on a bit, not played much football , carrying niggling injuries take time to get up to speed and unlikely to be at their best until next season. When we run as tight as squad size as we have, having several players in their twilight is risky and if we continue with a small squad we need to balance the quality/quantity/risk better than we have this season.
  21. We have been poor and deserve to be where we are . similarly st mirren have had lots of positive press but there’s little between the teams . If we’d won our previous head to heads with them we’d be in their position . appreciate we didn’t but is does show the fine margins . All of which is a bit depressing as it just highlights how poor quality the Scottish game has become . pleased with a point today - it’s at least a fair result .
  22. We’re bang average and have bang average players (in the main) happy with a point - further we get away from bottom 2 the better
  23. disappointed that you feel they'll score against us - expected better
  24. Spittal has been impressive, particularly since Slattery's injury, which I I believe has a lot to do with the balance we've needed in midfield + coincides with when Bair has been a perm fixture. It was always going to be a Hearts /Hibs/Abderdeen type move. Fair play to him and wish him all the very best. He has been a rare commodity beyond his goals - a Motherwell player who's not spent weeks in the Physio room.
  25. VAR - hands up for those who think it's enhanced the game. ???................ Given the clubs are funding this, it would be reasonable for them to vote on whether it stays, goes or changes. If changes it would have to be used sparingly for obvious errors only, and frankly offers very little value. Other than giving us something else to moan and groan about I don't see any tangible value.
