  1. Players who commit a foul to deny a goalscoring opportunity will no longer automatically be sent off, football's rule-making body has confirmed. The previous 'triple-punishment' rule required a red card - and therefore a suspension - as well as the award of a penalty under those circumstances. However, players committing accidental fouls that deny a goalscoring chance will now be cautioned instead. But deliberate fouls will still incur a red card. Those include holding, pulling or pushing, not playing the ball, serious foul play, violent conduct or deliberate handball in order to deny a goalscoring opportunity.
  2. Touch of deja vu. I thought I'd gone back to the 90s.
  3. Most of that money comes from the ridiculous sums thrown at English football by Sky and BT while the Scottish game gets offered peanuts. My "wee" team AFC Fylde also have a multi millionaire throwing cash at them to try and achieve league status. And don't get me started on agents who take millions from the game and give nothing back.
  4. Looks like I'm going to see a lot of Zaine next season, Fylde are my hometown team. Kennedy struggled to get game time last season but will be hoping for more this year. A left side defence of Zaine and Kennedy gives me the fear though.
  5. Usual top quality BBC reporting. "Striker McDonald hit the post with a close-range header, the ball trundled along the line and appeared to be scooped clear by keeper Craig Samson."
  6. See my earlier posts, three clean sheets from four games, conceded one goal.
  7. Because Hugh Sproat was our first team goalie and Sammeroff only played because he was out injured for four weeks. I don't think the fans would have taken too kindly to their favourite not getting straight back into the team. And no, I'm not saying he was anything special as a keeper but he certainly never let us down in the games he played and to rate him as so poor based on only four games seems harsh, especially given other contenders.
  8. It amazes me when Howard Sammeroff gets mentioned as one of our worst keepers ever. He only played four first team games, kept three clean sheets and conceded just one goal. Tell you what, I'd take that level of shite any day of the week.
  9. Kieran Kennedy got a 25 minute run out for AFC Fylde today. Looked pretty comfortable, no sign of his granny hips giving out.
  10. AFC Fylde have had it on their website as confirmed since late afternoon.
  11. One game down and I can confirm he's not a footballer yet. As a Fylde fan, 80 minutes of the worst football ever. 2-0 down at half time, bit of pressure but no goals, game drifting away. One goal back from nowhere but Kiddy clinically running down the clock. 89 minutes, red card for Kiddy. 94 minutes big big fight, one from each team sent off, and looked like more fighting in the tunnel. 97 minutes, a late equaliser. Proper exciting football. Remember that?
  12. Two big games coming up for AFC Fylde, my very local team just fifteen minutes walk from the house (or more if I call in at the four pubs en route). First up on Saturday is a huge game against Kidderminster Harriers which could kill off Kiddy's title hopes and cement Fylde's. A chance for me to see if Zaine Francis-Angol has turned into a footballer yet! Then on Tuesday another biggie when the Messiah/naughty boy Jim Gannon brings Stockport to Mill Farm.
  13. Rangers 28,500 Celtic 25,000 The St Mirren cup game game is listed as 26,709 but some reported it as around 33,000 and I would be tempted to agree having been at all three games. That's the one it was almost impossible to even move at.
  14. Collum was always going to even it up if he could and McDonald gave him that option although it should have been a yellow if Kiernan's was.
  15. Marinello scored the penalty and Taylor got the other. I had it in my head that the penalty was the winning goal, when I looked it had Taylor as scoring the winner. And...what other game?
  16. It was indeed Dougie McDonald. He loved brandishing a red card, mostly at us, and did it with great frequency.
  17. Indeed, Willie was well beaten. Google is your friend if your memory is failing.
  18. Henri Anier just scored against Belgium.
  19. Kirk was a Falkirk player by then and further action was indeed taken. This from the Guardian's Knowledge column...Falkirk striker Steve Kirk kicked the ball into a group of Hearts supporters during an SPL game at Tynecastle and, in doing so, struck a 12-year-old girl on the head. Kirk was charged with recklessly kicking the ball without regard for spectators' safety and fined £250, despite his protestations that he had only put the ball out of play to allow an injured team-mate to receive medical treatment.
  20. Plays for my hometown club. Just moved into a £18m stadium complex with a wealthy backer so not desperate for money. Good little player but maybe a little lightweight for the SPFL.
  21. Hoping to pick it up online, seen one site listing it.
  22. So basically any other club that offers more wages than us and the club won't stand in their way.
  23. Look at the linesman, he almost stops at the first suggested offside which puts him out of position for McDonald's goal. From his out of line position McDonald would almost certainly appear offside.
  24. I think that the linesman's positioning cost us, he wasn't in line which, from his angle, would have made it look more offside.
