We don't have to sell him to anyone. He seems quite content to stay and we aren't desperate for the money.

For me, the ideal scenario is that he plays another season for us as a Motherwell employee. The risk that he suddenly becomes worthless is neglibile.

I'd much rather see him in claret and amber for another campaign than sell him now and use the money to buy 2 or 3 players that will never be as good. We'll be lucky if we ever see a player of his talent again, so let's not rush to offload him.

If any club comes in with £3 million or more then he is gone. No way we can risk keeping him and him getting injured or he loses form.

Aye, he sounds more like an Ariyibi type player - winger who loves to dribble and "needs work" in the shooting department.

(I saw an interesting stat in The Scotsman today that Ariyibi attempted more dribbles per game than any other player in the Premiership last season).

Boy was brilliant, would have him back in a heart beat. Every time he got the ball you felt something was going to happen.

Don't see Tanner featuring but Polworth might fit in somewhere there. Have seen worse starting elevens for us. Balance of the midfield isn't right but if Cadden, McHugh and Turnbull all leave you have to figure that we'd make at least one signing in that area.

With a few players probably leaving, I reckon there will be some room in the budget for signing at least one winger, maybe two...

Is Polworth really going to fit into the first team? I looked at him as a squad player at the very most.

  4. Based on how Cadden has been performing in his last few games I would LOVE to keep him. Has looked superb.

Perfect scenario would be that next season we line up as follows:

    GK - Gillespie

    DL - Tait

    CB - Dunne

    CB - Gallagher / Maguire / Mbulu

    DR - Grimshaw

    MC - Turnbull

    MC - Campbell

    MC - Gorrin

    AML - Cadden

    AMR - Semple

    CF - Scott

But in reality it will probably be:

    GK - Gillespie

    DL - Tait

    CB - Dunne

    CB - Gallagher / Maguire / Mbulu

    DR - Grimshaw

    MC - Fane

    MC - Campbell

    MC - Gorrin

    AML - Tanner

    AMR - Semple

    CF - Scott

I think this summer we will be waving goodbye to the following:

Turnbull, Cadden, Frear, Aldred, Sammon, Hartley, Johnson, McHugh, Newell and Main.

Maybe even Campbell if the right offer comes in.

The kids voice is still to break.

I always think at about 15 or 16 you really know the potential of a player. Maybe I am wrong, but it seems daft to think a 9 year is going to become a great player.

Fair play to Motherwell though for signing him to their books - best place for the lad!

This is why I am not a football scout!!

  6. Hastie was excellent again yesterday. The boy is going to be a top player. If he stays then great, if not then thats just football.

Few guys were saying that Crystal Palace are very interested in signing him, so I think the Rangers move might not be so clear cut.

  7. McHugh is a good utility player and useful to have if you have injuries.

    Would love Cadden to stay.

ATS is on loan and doubt will be back

Frear is worth keeping as backup.

    Aldred is a must buy.

Main I’m not sure about, but would be tricky to get a similar player of his level for free.

    Gorrin is worth another season

  8. I would say since Tanner got injured we have not been the same attacking force. Other than a few great results against Aberdeen we have not really blown any teams away.

Tanner was a huge influence on our team. Best signing out with Kipre that Robinson made.

A good summation of recent events.

It's the part in bold that's really got on my tits if I'm honest.  We looked to have signed jobbers to fill up the bench rather than sign quality to push last years starters in to positions 12-18.  I also fear that signing guys from such a low level of football, consistently, will ultimately be detrimental to the Club both on the playing front and at the expense of our youth players.

I had hoped to see Turnbull playing most weeks this season as I think he's a terrific prospect, with Maguire, Livingstone and Scott not far behind.  As it would appear, they are miles away from the First Team at present with the influx of signings.

I agree, we need these young guys playing. Maguire, Scott and Turnbull look great. Scott for me looks are far more polished striker that Danny Johnston. Time will tell though if Robison gives them a chance.

    How's that midfiled setting up?

I am not convinced Tanner is an out n out striker

Elliott Frear is never a Striker.

Cadden on the right, Bigi and Campbell in the middle and rose on the left.

play either Frear or Tanner off the striker.

Or once Tanner is fit play Frear on the left instead of Rose.

When Frear came on against Accies we had an out ball, needs to start.

  11. Too many knee jerk reactions here. Yes Motherwell were poor on Saturday and lacked any kind of creativity going forward, but for me the main issue throughout the whole game was playing Aldred as a right back. Why? For me one of the best partnerships we have is Tait and Cadden on the right, they work really well together and when we took Tait off we then lost the goal and suddenly had Aldred trying to ping balls into the box, which was of course going to end in tears.

Bigi tried hard but need to move the ball quicker and also improve his delivery, but I am happy to have him in there rather than McHugh.

Main tried hard and got a good few runs and on another day could have had two, I have no doubt he will get his form back. Sammon for me was just terrible in the air. I have never seen a centre forward time his headers so badly, he should have been sent of for dangerous play for the amount of times he took Accies players out, but as a partnership I'm not conviced. I think until Tanner is back I would have Frear and Main leading the line, or Frear and Sammon. The boy Johnstone is still quite raw and rought around the edges, but could be useful as a sub.

I think we need to give it time to click, we have not really changed the squad from last season and Hartley is essentially replacing Kipre, and we know Harley is decent. This same squad last season did pretty good.

I'd just put the Accies game down to a bad day at the office. We will eventually click and all this chat about us not scoring or getting any points in the next X amount of games is just heresay.

Going forward my 11 (injury free) would be

    Carson

    Dunne

    Hartley

    Aldred

    Tait

    Bigi

    Rose

    Campbell

    Cadden

    Tanner

    Main

For the time being throw in Sinclair for Dunne and Frear for Tanner, but that team above will not get relegated.
