I did not see the Twitter beef but perhaps we wouldn't be in this situation if Jordan White wasn't pish at fitba.

I feel a bit for White, it was a step up for him to come here and I remember watching his interviews when he arrived and he said how desperate he was to make it at this level. It's a shame for him it didn't work out but he still has a chance with County. He seems like a decent guy.
From a football POV however I'm glad he's away, he just wasn't very good. Smith already seems like a step up.
I don't harbour any ill will towards White. I mind that interview and fair fucks to him for giving it a crack. Sadly he just was not good enough for this level.

Whether or not I pay my £12.50 to watch this game entirely depends on when the line ups come out and whether Ricki Lamie is included in it.

Ricki Lamie to turn into the Harthill Maldini now we're on his plastic homeland.

I've renewed mine already. I have no idea what I'll get out of it in terms of what the next year of football will look like but I had already put the money aside for renewal and I'm happy to put it in to help the club in a way.

The 'second operation' is a bit disingenuous no?
Is it not just routine aftercare?
Sounds like it was going to happen in the summer anyway. And seeing as we don't have any football for the foreseeable future it makes sense to just get it over and done with now.

First player to sign for them as a professional club?
First new signing I suppose. They'd already signed the first team up on professional terms.

The done thing is to give it to Long for scoring a hat trick but Campbell was the best player on the park by some distance.

Thought he strolled through it tbh. A lot of what he's done for most of the season.
-
He's clearly not the most naturally talented player in the world, but more than compensates for that by being the hardest working player I've ever seen. Absolutely adore him.

Maguire in midfield gives me the fear in this game. O'Hara maybe?
Or maybe Sloth will put down his instagram account and play football instead.

I made it along on Saturday. The minutes applause had me in tears.
At least my old man would have got a laugh at the most typically Motherwell performance we've put in this season.

Hi Fraser. Peter and I were at the crematorium to pay respects to your Dad this morning. You wouldn't notice us in the crowd - great turn out. He was clearly a lovely man. Deepest condolences again to you, your Mum and sister. We will be there on Saturday for you if you can make it.
I had a feeling it was you guys as a few of my mates were saying a couple of guys were there with Motherwell scarves. Never noticed you as my head is absolutely up my backside today.
We all thought there would be a decent turnout but I wasn’t expecting 400+. A fitting send off for the big man.
I’ll be there on Saturday. The big man wouldn’t let me have it any other way.

Colin is someone I have sat next to in the Cooper for 20 years + and shared in the banter. My heart goes out to his family - especially his son, who also comes to every game and has inherited his Dad's wit. I'm sorry I never knew him better. If anyone here knows the Anderson family well, it would be good to know about the funeral arrangements.
Colin died tragically during a charity bike ride. His Just Giving page is now close to £6k. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/colin-anderson28
I’m his son actually. The generosity of people has brought me to tears a couple of times this week.
His funeral is on Wednesday 18th September at 10am at the Linn Crematorium.
I’m making it my target to get to the Ross County game as the big man would be furious if I missed a game at Fir Park.

Yes, that was the subtext to my point. I’m not convinced he’s any better than guys we’ve let go and have slipped down the leagues.
I think Motherwell and Jake Hastie got the best deal they were ever going to get.
I think this is very much the case. Once teams had rumbled him he became much less effective.
Would it have been nice to keep a young player and try and coach him to be better? Absolutely yes. Do I think we've missed out on a massive amount of money in the future? Absolutely not.

Good article, the last sentence says all you need to know about him
"Main went from slightly below average, to one of the worst strikers the league has seen in the past five seasons."
I think he definitely done a job and did help us get our wingers involved.
However for scoring goals he was utterly fucking hopeless.

I've had this thought rolling about my head for the past couple of weeks, mainly after looking at Ryan Gauld returning to Hibs. My general feeling is that players absolutely deserve credit for heading to the continent to get a new experience and a different culture both socially and footballing wise. The English lads Sancho and Nelson seem to have absolutely flown since going to Germany, as an example. But with Gauld, has moving to Lisbon made him a better player, or would staying in Scotland playing games of football at a more competitive level have made him a more complete player now? If he'd stayed and played another season would he have been more ready to go to Lisbon and play for them, rather than their youth teams or the clubs he went on loan to?
The proof of the pudding is in the eating, and sometimes players just aren't good enough.
Same goes for Hall, Erwin and many others, but fundamentally;
Is the truth, and I'd be hard pressed to argue against this in any way.
Respect to anyone who makes a go of it on the continent. Almost wonder why Gauld bothered coming back because I would absolutely be happy jobbing round lower league Portugal until I crashed into my 30s.

If you've never heard it, there's a very good interview with McManus on Simon Ferry's Open Goal podcast. Very positive about Motherwell. I don't remember any great revelations but he did say he knew his time was up in that Edinburgh City game. Anyone that was there knew it as well.
Christ it wasn't half. The big man looked like he was pulling a caravan.

Step up James Scott another one of our young guns who deserves some game time in the first team
I wouldn't say he's ready to be stuck in to start every week, but you'd find it tough to argue that he would have achieved any less than Conor fucking Sammon.

Yep. Main, Bowman, Sammon and Newell aren't really going to do the biz for us and it remains to be seen what happens with Johnson once defenders suss him out like they have with our other strikers. Hopefully he will be able to adapt.

Main is useful but more in terms of a second striker who grafts for the team. He needs a finisher up front with him as he's not a goalscorer. Bowman's absolutely terrible, Sammon's getting packed back to Gorgie at the earliest opportunity and I genuinely forgot Newell existed.

Jacob Blyth signs for Barrow. I can only assume his agent is a master of illusion as he seems to have convinced someone he's a footballer.

Mugabi's tackle is shite. It's probably a red. In the VAR world there's not a chance anyone would look at those replays and overturn it. However you could probably say it could have been 9v9 in the end between other shit tackles and elbows.
