  1. That's the whole fucking point, we could be top pf the l;eague and in the Champions league group stages and we'd still lose to a fucking Rangers team that cant beat Peterhead, or Berwick, or fucking Annan. A Rangers team that cant get past the quarter finals of a cup only for lower division teams, but can still horse the top team in the country. There is something far wrong at Fir Park when we cant even put on a show against that lot, and the fact that we haven't done so since, as the BBC told us at every chance they got tonight, Owen Coyle was our main striker.
  2. If you ever get that close to him again, do us all a favour and drag him off the park he's a waste of a fucking jersey.
  3. As he proved once again tonight McCall is and always will be "A Rangers great"
  4. Keith, but I could have easily gone for Law as he was excellent. Dont think we'll miss Jennings too much if he keeps up that standard of performance. Humphrey disappointed me in the fact that he was immobile, there were times when we had the ball that you were screaming for him to run into space and he never moved just stood there and allowed the defenders to close him down. Most passes to him ended up right back where they came from or we lost possession. Humphrey should know the score by now, once the opposition see his pace for themselves they make sure no-one is left one on one with him, so he needs to be a wee bit cuter than them. Unfortunately when they block off his runs he doesn't seem to have a plan B. Murphy looked good on the opposite wing but not having a left foot they knew he was always going to cut inside. All in all i was delighted with the performance, if not the result, that freaky goal in the first half really sewed up the game for them, after that they just sat back and soaked up the pressure.
  5. Nae fears at all on that score, I got the train.
  6. When I got there at about 7, I went into the shop and spent a few bob but didn't bother going to the Cooper for a pint as I saw the queues for the East Stand and decided to get myself round to the South sharpish. No queues just walked straight in, pissed me off I can tell you. All the way up from Manchester yesterday afternoon and all the way back this morning without even a sniff at a beer.
  7. Two points. First, Jim Traynor is a lying toerag, he is bending and twisting facts and comments to fit his agenda. Ignore him. Secondly, Sky have already said they will not pull out of Scottish football. This season anyway, everybody's Sky money is safe. There will be no renegotiation of this years cash, but there may well be for the following season. That's why Doncaster et al are desperate to get Sevco ino Divison one, next years money may be at threat. SPL boards have a season in which to sort themselves out financially, the bonus being, without Servco, the 11-1 voting system works in their favour and they can vote for a fairer share of cash the following season. A personal opinion. Rangers average is about 9k at Fir Park, the biggest crowd we've had for ages was against Nancy, circa 11k iirc, what kind of gate are we likely to get against the likes of Dynamo Kiev, or Fenerhbace (sp). Then if we lose that and drop into the Europa the chances are an even bigger name could be on their way to Fir Park. I'm pretty sure those matches will more than make up for the loss of Sevco. Given that Sevco will be replaced, hopefully by Dundee, I really dont see what there is to worry about for Motherwell. We are looking in better shape going into next season than most.
  8. Not surprised, and not worried either.
  9. They didn't need to lie to us, they just let us go on our merry way even allowing us to decide whether Rangers would be in the SPL or not. The wee leaflet full of doom and gloom that was sent out along with it wasn't trying to change anyone's mind it was just preparing us for what was coming along in it's wake. The proposal yesterday came after lengthy discussions betwen the SPL and SFA. Derek Weir is on the board of the SPL, make up your own mind. As far as I'm concerned yesterday's proposals are Scottish Football's suicide note.
  10. We have a duty to act in the interests of our club and we hope these can be reconciled with the interests of the game . This is NOT about our club, it is about the game as a whole. You have to vote for the integrity of the game and then you reconcile the club to that.
  11. For the sake of the game and for the good of the country it has to be No. Of course that wont matter to our board they'll vote yes, you can put your mortgage on that.
  12. There is one sticking point though that makes all this fanciful. While the vast majority of supporters want to see Rangers punished properly, the high heid yins are bricking it, and by that I mean the chairmen of every club in the SPL and the heirarchy at SFA and SPL headquarters. Regardless of the soundbites McCall, Webster, and Weir spout, you can put your house on Motherwell voting a Newco back into the SPL. If Rangers get suspended or thrown out on Friday, some hope, they will appeal to CAS, the only place left for them. CAS have a backlog of 18 months or so, that means that any punishment will be suspended till the case can be heard. Rangers will be back in the SPL next season as if nothing ever happened. By the time the CAS gets round to hearing the case a compromise will have been reached and we'll be back where we started. I dont believe any SPL club will vote against the Newco, maybe Celtic but only if Rangers are safe. Motherwell will bend over and take it up the boys gate, like the rest of the SPL.
  13. Craigans an embarrassment, he's a media whore toeing the (un)official media line. All the media care about is the OF, for our club captain to deliver the same sycophantic shite is appalling. If Rangers (newco/oldco) are allowed to participate in next season's SPL, those cynics amongst us will have confirmation of what we all believed. The SPL is about Rangers and Celtic, we're just there to make up the numbers. Where there is no sporting integrity there is no sport, we'll just be a low rated TV series like Eggheads where the occasional team are offered up to the big guns for slaughter. It's despicable.

I dont understand the praise for Higdon. Yes he won his fair share of balls in the air, but to what effect? This isn't a dig at Higdon, he did his job adequately enough, but he just isn't cut out for the lone striker role. You need someone who can hold the ball up and wait for runners from midfield, and for all his merits that's not Higdons game. He's more of a target man knocking the ball down for a striking partner and feeding off crosses into the box. Celtics defenders are fairly big and strong and can deal fairly competently with high balls into the box, whereas on the ground they can tend to be somewhat clumsy. If you are going to play a lone striker I would have gone with Ojamaa from the start and kept the ball on the ground. Humphrey caused Celtic more problems than anyone else in claret and amber, that's why he gets my vote.
  15. I tend to manage my visits home a wee bit better than I have recently, and get to see a home match that doesn't involve the OF, unfortunately yesterday was one of those days that a visit home clashed with an OF match. If it happens again I'll go to the pub and watch it. I dont need the kind of shite their fans dish out, and to watch them celebrating in the POD turned my stomach. I normally go to the POD but not when they're inviting the scum in I wont. Did the club sell too many tickets for the South Stand, or did they just let anyone in that turned up? From the Cooper, the South Stand looked full but it also looked as if there were people overflowing in to the aisles at the back of the stand.

Hutchison at the back and Humphrey up front. I plumped for Humphrey because he was the only one who worried their defence, as poor as it is. Playing Higdon as alone striker is just ridiculous he needs someone bouncing off him picking up the knockdowns. Far too often he was left alone with hardly any support, virtually every time he won the ball he was looking to smash it out wide to Humphrey, a ploy Celtic quickly cottoned on to. All in all it wasn't a great game we were marginally the better side in the firsat half but the second half was awful. The only bright spot was watching Ojaama's warm up, he trots like one of those Lipizzaner horses, knee up first then shoots the leg out. Weirdly compelling.
  17. My first hero was Dixie Deans so he'll be in my team right away, my Dad would be turning in his grave if I didn't include Charlie Aitken and Pat Quinn. So my favourite 20 are as follows; Charlie Aitken Pat Quinn Dixie Deans Tom Donnelly Keith MacRae Joe Wark Willie Pettigrew Bobby Graham Vic Davidson Ally Mauchlen John Gahagan Stevie Kirk Dougie Arnott Tommy Coyne Rab McKinnon Davie Cooper Phil O'Donnell Paul Lambert James McFadden Keith Lasley The best would be a lot different and harder to pick.
  18. Here was me thinking I was pouring scorn on the clown who thought the press were giving us a good write up when in actual fact it all they were doing was giving space to a propaganda sheet written by a board member. I stand corrected.
  19. Ultimately, this is about money, the board will without a shadow of a doubt allow Rangers back in to the SPL. The alternative is Dunfermline and Ross County. Do you really think Derek Weir, or any other SPL board member, wants to throw away all that dough from thousands of Rangers fans, including the TV revenue, and replace it with a couple of dozen County fans from Dingwall? You really think the club wants to replace a wee short jaunt into Ibrox, with a long exhausting trek into the wilds of Cromarty. Rangers will still be in the SPL next season, they might start with a points deduction and a transfer embargo, they might even be kicked out of the Scottish Cup, but they will still be an SPL side. There isn't one single person in the heirarchy of Scottish Football that has the balls to kick these scumbags out of the SPL, because they're a cash cow for the rest of us, they'll all bend over and take it up the shit chute for the right amount of cash.
  20. That's not an article it's an advert. It's written by a member of the board ffs, it's a straightforward press release.
  21. So why come out with the scare tactics. We have no idea what's round the corner for any of us never mind the club. The truth is that at this moment in time, the club is in a sounder financial footing than a hell of a lot of it's fans, fans they are asking to cough up hard earned cash, as a safety net, just in case. I'll admit I'm extremely uncomfortable with the whole scenario, and wont be investing. If the club ever NEEDS my money I'll be there, but as far as I can see this isn't cash that's needed, it's cash that's wanted and that's a totally different thing.
  22. I fiond this statement absolutely ludicrous. Do you really believe that without sufficient take up on the 'Well Society the club will cease to exist? Is that the line the club are spinning to encourage people to join, or is your less than fertile imagination working overtime? Regardless of your nightmare scenario, a failure to acheive the £250k target will not see the club's demise. A Cup final and European football last season saw the club post a £500k profit this year, currently we are sitting comfortably in third withEuropean Football next season all but assured and are in the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup. Enough of the scaremongering.
  23. Agree with AlB, as long as 2nd place is a mathematical possibility that should be our aim. We'd all have been delighted with a 3rd place finish at the beginning of the season, 2nd would be beyond our wildest dreams but the fact that it is within sight should have us pushing for it big time. I believe Saturday has gone a long way to booking 3rd place and a victory over Hibs on Wednesday will virtually seal it. We need to look further, Hearts will certainly drop more points than we do between now and the end of the season, it's possible that Rangers will too, a bit of self belief when we next face Rangers may just swing the chase in our favour. GO FOR IT!
  24. Not quite, Ian St.John managed 80 in a 113 appearances.
  25. I think I have more right to be offended by Postie Jim than most on here. The ludicrousness of this thread had me DEFENDING McCall ffs.
