  1. True or not it doesn't make it right, and that's the whole point. Do you really think that when asked to sit down by a steward and you refer him to the Celtic match a few weeks earlier when Declan was allowed to stand for the whole match, he's going to say "Aye yer right, I suppose there is a precedent there, carry on standing" get fucking real. Have you ever tried reasoning with a steward? Your only option is to sit down, nothing else is going to work. You start arguing the toss and you're out on your ear and even the dumbest twat should know that.
  2. I would suggest it was the fans who were standing up who caused the problem, regardless of the behaviour or attitude of the stewards had they been sitting on their arses there wouldn't have been any confrontation. Part of the stewards job is to ensure that the spectators remain seated, if you are told to sit down and refuse to comply then they can, and undoubtedly will, remove you from the ground. Coming back with, What about them in that stand over there, or, I bet you'd allow it if it were Celtic or Rangers is not an option, in fact it's just fuckin rdiculous. We DONT have standing areas at Football grounds, and until we do you need to remain seated, that's the be all and end all. Refusing to sit down when asked and being thrown out for it doesn't make you a hero or a martyr, just an idiot.
  3. I do not know about the legalities but it is a Health and Safety issue but probably more to do with insurance. If you are standing up during the game and fall over injuring the person in front, for arguments sake say you go right into him as he is seated and break his neck, he will sue the club, as long as the club can confirm that you were told in no uncertain terms to sit down, they are covered. Frankly, this kind of stupidity leaves me breathless, we've had all seated stadiums for years now and EVERYONE but the biggest fucking idiot in the land KNOWS that standing is not tolerated. So I have absolutely no sympathy with anyone who is thrown out for standing especially after being warned about it. You know the rules so dont fucking do it.
  4. The club's point of view is more likely to be financial, i.e, it's three weeks without income. Thankfully the last game had one of our biggest crowds in years so there shouldn't be too much hardship. This is what really pisses me off about Internationals, they used to be on a Wednesday and matches took place on the Saturday before and the Saturday following, then we had games cancelled on the Saturday before, now the whole card uis canceklled and the games are on a Friday or a Saturday. It's nothing short of ridiculous.
  5. We've got a small squad, any addition to it should be welcomed particularly one who has already been here and shown he has enough class to claim a place in the side. I'd take Hughes back anytime.
  6. I am finding this one far too hard to call. There's no doubt Celtic are shite at the moment, and if we play as well as we can we should pose their defence and midfield far too many problems. However I still cant feel anything like the kind of confidence I should be feeling. When we beat them last season we lost the next two league games after that to ICT and Killie shipping 6 goals in the process. This season we've taken care of ICT and Killie beforehand, but I still dont feel optimistic. If we win Neil Lennon will go, that's the only certainty I can predict for next week. I hope and pray it comes true, but I wont be betting on it.
  7. This evening, I was sorting through some old boxes that we'd had in storage for some time, and came across an old Motherwell Programme. I was explaining to my daughter that I'd kept it becuase a week later we moved down to Manchester and I wasn't sure when I'd next get back to Fir Park. She said look at the date fo the programme, I hadn't noticed but it was 25th October 1997. Fourteen years to the day. Motherwell v Aberdeen and I know we lost to a last minute Dean Windass goal but cant remember too much else about the game. You''ll be delighted to know that Steve Craigan was amongst the subs that day, and the fan interviewed for the fan File was one Ricky Mullen from Uddingston. Anyone know him?
  8. If the worst comes to the worst, Jennings.
  9. I dont know who it was that requested Motherwell not play Jennings, but I'm glad they didn't agree to it, as, to my mind, it would only have served to make him look guilty. Which certainly would not have helped his case.
  10. Correct. I'm regretting bringing it up now as it took the thread in a different direction. The point is, for all my dislike of McCall I wouldn't dream of booing or jeering him from the stands because I'm too busy supporting Motherwell.
  11. Did they not say she was "Health and Safety" these are people who didn't exist 25 years ago and now they rule the fucking world.
  12. It's a follow on to the point Milo made so of course its relevant, wind yer neck in ffs. Anyhow, to the point, I've never booed or heckled any Motherwell player wearing the jersey and never will. There have been many who have exasperated me considerably but while they wear the jersey they are sacrosanct. I will moan mightily about them on here and in the pub but once they cross the line onto the pitch they have my undivided support and I cannot understand how anyone can spend 90 minutes criticising their own players and then call themselves supporters. Everyone on here knows, or they should know, my opinion on Stuart McCall, I dont like him, I dont rate him as a manager, and I dont think he should be in the job in the first place. That's my opinion, but, for as long as he's in the job he will have my undivided loyalty. I'd much rather see him and Motherwell succeed leaving me with egg on my face than see him and Motherwell fail with me saying "I told you so", because I'm a Motherwell fan and the club means more to me than my own fucking ego. Stop booing and start encouraging. .
  13. I came close, I stood up and said "What a load of pish, Cruise you couldny act the fucken goat" and walked out of Minority Report. I have though never, ever, booed a player wearing the Motherwell jersey although I have to admit I have had to bite my tongue a few times to keep that record intact.
  14. I wasn't at the game so I wont comment, and I havent seen Higdon other than on TV so cant form an opinion either way. I did though listen to the match on the BBC and the commentator was particularly scathing about Higdons performance.
  15. I hope we win on Saturday but I wouldn't put money on it, like I did against St Johnstone. I'm of the same opinion as Bill Shankly, winning is a habit and if you want to win consistently you have to go into every game not just wanting to win, but believing you can win. Until we start taking that attitude into every match we'll go nowhere.
  16. How does he feel now?
  17. From what I read of the Rangers situation it is extremely difficult to see how they can avoid going into administration. Whyte refuses to say they wont be taken into administration, he also continues to claim that there will still be a Rangers Football Club and it will still be playing at Ibrox. Administration would certainly be a way of ensuring that was the case, in the immediate term at least, whereas allowing the club to be wound up might not. I think it's a timing thing with Rangers, do they bide their time hoping to get a points cushion before accepting the inevitable, or do they go into administration quickly giving themselves time to rebuild the points deduction. Rangers annual turnover, circa £60m, is comfortably more than the potential debt to the taxman, so allowing them to continue to trade is the smart thing to do.
  18. Duscussing this in the pub last night after the Celtic game. With the distinct probability of Rangers being docked points for going into administration, and the fact that we have two representatives in the Champions League next year, does anyone feel it would be a worthwhile gamble for the likes of us, we are in the driving seat, Dundee Utd and Hearts to go into debt and splash a bit of cash in January to try and nick second place. Specualting to accumulate in other words. My own view, I'm a cynical bastard at the best of times, if Rangers are docked points they will get them back tenfold in penalties, and opponents having goals disallowed and men sent off. The Football establishment in Scotland will do all they can to get Rangers into that second Champions league spot, if not the first.
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Af0liXLsEY Just once, please God, I'd love to hear us come out to this.
  20. This link is to an A-Z of Post War Scottish and English Footballers. It's in alphabetical order, and it states that Bert Howieson only played 3 times for Motherwell, the player above him in the list, Scott Howie, apparently made 69 appearances so maybe the info was just taken down incorrectly. http://www.neilbrown.newcastlefans.com/motherwell/motherwell.htm
  21. Surely when you are playing better teams you should be lifting your game against them. When we come up against the OF we seem to get worse. I dont mind losing to the OF as long as we give it our best shot, but too often we seem to go out onto the pitch already beaten. McCalls comments after the Rangers game that we needed them to be shit us to be playing above ourselves and the officials to do us a favour, doesn't exactly fill me with confidence so what the hell does it do for the players.
  22. I'm like you I didn't make the meeting and there hasn't been a great deal of detail gone into on the website, mainly soundbites if truth be told, and I have seen a copy of the freebies for each particular shareholding. I was wondering if the club would be issuing a full statement detailing everything covered at the meeting, particularly for our overseas fans and others amongst us who were unable to attend. I said before I dont want to comment on it until I know the full details and while I was pleasantly surprised by what I've heard so far there are a few things of which I am still a bit unsure.
  23. I've had dealings with the FSA a few times in the past and it was nightmarish, no matter how quickly you completed your end it would disappear up theirs for months on end.
  24. The date coincides with my wedding anniversary and the wife wont let me go, it would mean flying back from Italy for the night so I can see her point. I dont think I've actually been bumping my gums about this at all, I believe I've been fairly consistent in saying I'll wait till the propsal is on the table before commenting. Although by the sound of things I dont think there'll be any details on the table any time soon.
