  1. I'm a bit pissed that I'm not going to make this meeting. Will there be an agenda published before the meeting to allow those of us unable to attend, but still potential investors, to make a decision and perhaps offer some input.
  2. His continual talking up of them, every time we play them he makes it sound as if we're playing Barcelona, and his use of the word 'we' when talking about them on the media. I can accept that from an ex-player who's no longer involved in the game, but not from an ex-player who's current job has him in direct opposition, that, to me, is unforgivable. His pathetic excuses afterwards "We needed them to have an off day" ffs what kind of message does that give to your players? Even if they do have an off day we still need to play at our best and get a bit of help from the officials, now there's a confidence booster for you? What he's saying there is if they play to their capabilities we're as well not turning up. I've seen worse Motherwell sides than this give far better Rangers sides than the current lot a far harder game. We are treating Rangers with far too much respect and that's down to McCall.
  3. That's my impression of the man and it's how he comes across to me, unfortunately your reasonably argued and fair minded rebuttal couldn't change my mind.
  4. So we're okay when teams attack us but not when we attack them, isn't that something the manager should be working on? How many goes has he had at it now, and how nmany goals have we lost?
  5. I dont, you explain why we cant play like that in a League match. I'm not too interested in other managers results the fact is we have generally given Rangers a game of it, I dont mind losing to either of the OF as long as we give it a go. Under Mccall we've managed that against one half of the OF and been nothing short of embarrassing against the other half. To me McCall comes across as a Rangers man biding his time at Fir Park awaiting the call.
  6. No-one had as bad a record against Rangers last year as we did even poor old Accies twice kept them down to one goal wins. We've lost that game before we go out on the park, that's the way I see it. I'm not as disappointed with the result as some, because I fully expected us to get humped on Sunday.
  7. I keep looking at that picture expecting the Ant Hill mob to come round the bend behind them.
  8. How can our players mental approach be right when they hear the manager talking about them as if he were still there? Even more important how can the managers mental approach be right if he still thinks like that?
  9. I dont believe they weren't trying, let me say that first of all. I do believe though that we fail to show the same effort and enthusiasm against Rangers as we do in other matches. I have always been wary of employing ex Old Firm players as managers, for the simple reason that psychologically some of them are still there. This is epitomised by two of our previous managers, Tommy McLean was first and foremost a Football man, Jock Wallace though, was a Rangers man first and a Football man next. McCall, in my opinion, falls firmly into the Jock Wallace camp. His continual talking up of them as a massive club, and his use of "we" when discussing them with the media shows exactly where his heart and his head lies. I dont believe anyone with that kind of mentality can give a side the necessary belief that they can beat Rangers. I'm not suggesting it's deliberate, but I dont think he's capable of changing it.
  10. Bit disappointed to see Stuart McCalls team win 3-0 today, still we only pay his wages what can we expect.
  11. Fair point but that was 16 years ago and it's a different era. Goodwillie has done the right thing he's went to a middle ranking EPL side and will be up against a better quality of player on a weekly basis, this can only help his game and his career. Staying in the stagnant backwater of the SPL with Rangers or Celtic wouldn't have made him a better player, he's already proved himself in the SPL with Dundee United. If Murphy does go I hope he gets picked up by an English side, hopefully Bolton he could learn a lot from Owen Coyle. I like Murphy and I'd like to see him improve, he wont if he stays in the SPL. Any overtures from the OF should be rebuffed immediately
  12. My dad had gone out of his way to take me to Motherwell matches when I was a boy. With all of my peeers going to one half or other of the bigot brothers on a Saturday (yes it was that long ago) my dad was the only one who could take me and, as he generally worked on a saturday morning it was touch and go whether he made it home in time to take me. I would be sitting in the kitchen all ready to go just hoping he'd get back in time, on some occasions it was tyouvh and go but he'd come home get washed and dressed and be eating a sandwich as we walked to the bus stop. When I got older I tried to repay thatby getting him tickets for big games that he normally wouldn't go to, the semi-finals against Rangers and Airdrie in 1975/76. His health was failing by the time we reached the Cup Final in 1991 and he wasn't able to attend. He rallied slightly the following year though and I was able to take him to the UEFA Cup match v Katowice,to see Motherwell in Europe was his dream as well as mine. The last game we attended together was the match v Dortmund and he was far from well. He died exactly a month later, and that match, although the memories are somewhat bittersweet is my last best moment as a Motherwell fan. Thanks Dad.
  13. Sky subscriptions for pubs and clubs is blatant extortion. For a simple wee boozer they are asking about £1200 a month and clubs are generally charged a bit more. We pay £3k per annum for a Scandinavian Channel and that gives us every EPL game even the Saturday 3 O'Clock kick offs. The basic problem with the Fir Park Club is it's location. Quite a few pubs and clubs get a lot of business from passing trade, and unless there's a game on there isn't going to be any passing trade in Fir Park Street.
  14. Correct it's between kick off and full time and on the pitch.
  15. Every Mars bar in every shop down here has the 3 Lions on it. They put millions into English football every year and we get a free 5 a side game. It's been 6 years since I last had a Mars bar, and it'll be a whole lot longer before I have another one.
  16. This is just a wee bit ludicrous suggesting we are going to finish third after just three games. Let's not forget we are only top because Celtic and Rangers have played a game less than us. I'll hold judgement until we've played a couple of the teams who'll be challenging us for that third spot, and until I see if we are actually going to try a leg against the blue bigots this season.
  17. Since when did a simple question become a moan?
  18. Is this the same MARS people who changed the wrapping on their eponymous bar to the flag of St George during the last World Cup, and had "believe" on their bars instead of the name in the one before that?
  19. It pisses me off that some wee OF scrote gets hold of a ticket for the Motherwell end and then when he makes himself nknown, as these idiots always do, they get dragged out and taken intio the POD stand. Why? Throw them out, they shouldn't have bought a ticket for the Motherwell end in the first place.
  20. Nope, sorry to disappoint but it aint me.
  21. It's not about any vendetta, I just think the club should keep these things to themselves until such a time as they have something of value to report. The continual flow of, for want of a better word, pish, from the board does nothing to help, it merely feeds the rumour mill surrounding this project. It's a distinct possibility that, by the time we eventually get the proposal put in front of us, some people may have already made their minds up and walked away from it.
  22. "It is expected that two out of five or six board members would be elected by their votes and that is a measure of how fundamental will be supporters' input." In other words, she doesn't know, she isn't even sure how many board members there will be. To be frank, the shambolic and amateurish way the club has gone about this whole project is causing me to question the advisability of investing funds with them.
  23. Not a fan of opening games, I really dont think we learn anything from them, and they dont bear a great deal of significance for the rest of the season. I reckon this will be a fairly nervy 0-0 draw. Hope I'm wrong.
