There’s about a 20 page document on the SFA web site on the protocols to be followed for the return to football and both St Mirren and Killie by their own admission broke these protocols!!

    The SFA website?

    Only  protocols ?

So not in the SPFL rules and regulations then?

PS, I’m being a bit facetious , everyone has their own conclusions’ most’  made without the ‘silly’ little details that could influence outcome and most  all made with a hint of bias

I thought they were harshly punished in a public health pandemic, same as hearts, thistle etc, doesn’t mean I want it changed.

  2. maybe we should just play football when we can,  rack up or scrape points as our capability allows ,  and let the process run , its course

plenty of scope for discussion without losing the rag, we  were in a false league position on league match performance, as much as , what, if, but allows for , even head to head recent history with squads shows we benefitted

I'm not sure  about 'blatant' rule breaches ..... when nobody is giving clear indication, if they are  steadfast incorporated 'rules'  or guidance to continue operate as a league that clubs agreed to  , even as much as common sense applies,  if they are  solid rules , broken with legitimate punishment given, then that punishment usually stands , ideal ,

if not , then play fixtures?

alternatives if punishment handed out is deemed excessive?  points deductions? or score draws?

I'm also wary of  demanding financial compensation for 'rule' breaches , when our own club has a history littered with call offs having failed to meet the requirements of the rules and regulations , no difference if it is covid 'rules' or playing surface rules , floodlight rules etc , IF  it's a rule break leading to a fixture not being played to the original schedule, to then financially compensate the other club would be an awful precedent set

I see that there are two premiership matches this midweek. Could we not have played one this week also?

we have two* first team squad players isolating, would we be seeking a match this week?

*potentially more if they did catch it

  4. John ‘Softie’ Philliben - Sweeper in the continental style, razor sharp accuracy with the long passes, super quick ,  had a gravity defying leap on him, and hit the most powerful penalties I’ve ever witnessed

Was also manager ( with ‘Mio’ ) for 4 games , 2W 2L , lost the last game as Shaun Maloney is a diving cheating wee rat

    SPFL STATEMENT

KILMARNOCK FC AND ST MIRREN FC DISCIPLINARY DATES ANNOUNCED...

The SPFL has today announced that disciplinary proceedings have been commenced against St Mirren FC.

It is alleged that St Mirren FC breached the SPFL’s Covid-19 Regulations during the lead-up to their postponed League Matches v Motherwell FC on Saturday 17 October and v Hamilton Academical FC on Saturday 24 October.

The St Mirren hearing will be held before a Sub-Committee of the Board of the SPFL, chaired by an independent legally-qualified chair, on Tuesday 10 and/or Wednesday 11 November.

The previously announced disciplinary hearing in relation to Kilmarnock FC will be held on Tuesday 10 November and now may also extend into Wednesday 11 November.

Not quite sure if the investigation has concluded?  Presumably it has, in each case,  for the SPFL  to call the clubs to hearings

be interesting if anything is permitted to come out of this what the alleged breaches are, and if they are really controllable by the clubs ( as employers)

the progress certainly isn’t helping get the backlog of fixtures cleared .

    Scottish Cup 2020/21 format confirmed

    generic-statement-option-5.jpg?mode=crop&width=820&height=305&anchor=top
    Tuesday 27 October 2020

The Scottish FA have today confirmed the format for the 2020/21 Scottish Cup, with revised competition rules as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The condensed competition, with fewer rounds than normal, will begin with the Preliminary Round One on 28 November.

Key changes to the format for 2020/21 include:

    • The removal of replays for all matches, with the outcome of any drawn match being determined by extra time and penalties, if required.

    • The entry point of clubs to the competition and the number of ties in each round.

    • The requirement to attempt to re-schedule any postponed match in the Preliminary Rounds, Round One and Round Two, during the first midweek after the original match date.

    • The number of substitutes permitted in a match will revert back to three, with an additional one permitted in any period of extra-time.

Clubs eligible to participate will be given the option to decline to do so if they decide that they cannot meet the requirements.

Clubs that decline to enter the competition will not be penalised financially and will still receive the bonus payment, equivalent to them being eliminated at the round they would otherwise enter.

All existing participation requirements apply along with the following additional requirements:

    • Changing facilities for both teams and match officials must be available and must comply with all relevant COVID legislation and regulations as outlined here. Further detailed information on changing facilities will be published by the Scottish FA within the next few days. Clubs will be required to provide confirmation of approval of their facilities from their respective League prior to their participation in the competition.

    • From Round Three onwards, clubs drawn to play against SPFL Premiership teams must comply with the relevant COVID testing regime which applies at that time or as directed by the Scottish FA Board.

    • Compliance with the relevant Match day Protocol(s) which the Scottish FA/Joint Response Group considers appropriate and issues at the relevant time.

Irrespective of who we did bring on, we could legally have brought on another sub, a youngster. I can see a case for Crawford, although he's unavailable next weekend, as OTF says. Hastie - what has he done to justify bringing him on?

We had used our three interruptions to bring on subs

  8. Know a lot of people will see this on Twitter, but for any that miss it, Tony Watt is raising funds for a local foodbank via just giving donations, click here for donations  or click the tweet below if you have a Twitter account and  give him some support

Well no Iain. We still don't know the facts.

Fair enough Dave, I just feel that far too many piled on to St.Mirren automatically assuming , cheating to gain some sort of advantage,

we’ve since had the facts , that there was in fact another significant outbreak present  in their squad

to me if they had played the game , it wouldn’t just have been an SPFL breach , it would have been criminal.

all the other noise and genuine concerns  about how it got into their club and spread slowly  etc is a separate concern ( that happens to be occurring around the world)  but for the decision they made last week on the late discovery of an additional positive case , I’d hope our club and players are thankful,  our fans that still think they should have played us might never think that.

Let’s hope our one case is/was truly isolated and the SPFL ( the clubs) can deliver a path to navigate thru this metaphorical minefield

I doubt, path 1-39 passing every number en-route is achievable in the current timeframe , but equally I’d like to see majority of points awarded being for actual games , even if there is less off them

  10. I see them as two different cases,

1: have they been unfortunate to have an outbreak at their club that due to the incubation period of this virus  and  even with protocols in place can still go player to player in training  whichhas  dragged on over  a long period

      OR

have they as a club and employer/employees  breached all the guidance to let it happen

    And then

    2. did they make up the potential risk last weekend to gain some advantage ?
    Or

did they act responsibly on discovering the new case. and safeguard a cross team/region outbreak

The SPFL investigation can look at how they manage their club and the staff behaviour, but I think they should be given credit for not putting our players at risk

again we’ll disagree on a few things , if the SPFL find wrong doing I’m for punishment,

but this virus is very contagious, protocols or not , one case in a club from  any player or staff members  public interactions can lead to a steady spread through the business due to the contagious nature , but also the variable incubation periods  and due to that even with testing it’s still a partial lottery, hence public health will often enforce at least two week lockdown on businesses that have that type of event

  11. So can we all agree , that St.Mirren took responsible action last weekend isolating  the additional players and staff , then declaring they couldn’t play the match because of that action.

had they not isolated those players in addition to the one positive case on they day...

and played the match with all those asymptomatic players that have now subsequently delivered positive results

At best we’d all be questioning if they had caused our one case
