  1. Yir Elder has confirmed that the Roddie part was a myth. It's possibly stemmed from the Ray Allan signing (The 40 year old keeper from Brechin who we beat off Barca and Milan to sign) who I believe was a relation of McLeish's. We needed a backup keeper for Woods for the Havnar Boltfelag UEFA Cup games, and he got the last few minutes over in the Faroes by way of a thank you.

To be fair Ian though even if you've no intention of travelling to the games then any information you can glean prior to the draw is useful and there are snippets that can help determine who we are going to get. I think its a given that folk are or have been enjoying the fact we've qualified. But its only natural that as draw becomes imminent those that are hoping to travel want to do as much homework as they can and can potentially get a bit agitated trying to get the necessary info. Remember that these games take place at the peak holiday periods in Scotland so the earlier you know what the script is the earlier you can decide if and when to put in for holidays, wait for the next round (fingers crossed) or whatever. Mind too that as soon as a location is known the chances are that Rynair, Easyjet and the likes will double the prices of flights if its in the vicinity of their routes. Fact is that there has been pots issued by UEFA prior to previous draws on the day or days leading up to the draws and whilst there we won't know if its home and away going by last years draw was a definite pattern that UEFA followed when conducting the draws. Think you are possibly being a bit harsh on folk only trying to clarify things and gen. up where they can.
  3. You counting Isle of Man Trophy as Cup Winners decorator?
  4. Aww nice one MJ. We could do much much worse than a modern take on that one for a future 'Well away top.

On the subject of season tickets. The Bully fan in work was pretty chuffed with their deal this season.

As long as the criticism is reasoned and where possible constructive I suspect that MFC won't be the least bit unhappy that some observations and counter suggestions are being put forward. It will give them a feel for the mood of fans they might otherwise be unaware of. Witness the lotto thread where a point was made about the lack of info. and how it was soon rectified or even in this thread where Flow has explained some of the reasons why the books haven't been available at the point of sale. Don't think it does any harm, again as long as you aren't being abusive, to offer some advice on where things could be done better or question why things are done in a particular way.
  8. Mentioned a couple of times in the Ins and Outs thread....
  9. Friend of our hails from just outside Huddersfield and refers to French Toast as Eggy Bread and the only place I've been offered a roll and mince was in that social club the Bellshill Bus used to call into before games in Dundee. And that completes my contribution to the culnary debate!

I'm aye about 3 issues behind reading Four Four Two and on this very subject there's a wee snippet in their April issue that Southampton will be going sponsor free next season to mark their 125th.
  11. Just to pick up on that part of your post el-pidge, something that many forget when pondering about what youth player will be the next windfall is that it isn't always about a transfer fee at the end of it.Not every player who comes through the youth set up is going to be a McFadden. Some of these guys will go on to be the squad members that you crave and rather than a hefty transfer fee your payback can sometimes be years of sterling service. The equivalent of the Fitzpatrick's, Hammell's, Craigan's and Lasley's of the current squad who between them must have contributed close to 1000 games for MFC.
  12. I wouldn't object at all if it proved to be the Airdrie Savings Bank who turned out to be the new sponsors though I'll admit if given a preference I would rather they went with their ASB logo on the shirt rather than their full title. There's a sort of mixture of devilment and a bit of disbelief that such an iconic Airdrie institution would overlook them at a time when they are once again right in the financial shit to agree a deal with Motherwell. I suppose though considering Motherwell like to market themselves as Lanarkshire's Premier Club ASB, with its branches across the county may well share a similar outlook. Oh and underboyleheating your new Motherwell strip graphic has hit the Airdrie forum The Stomp and is under discussion!
  13. All votes now counted and Steve Jennings is your Steelmen Online Man of the Match award winner for 2009'10. Voting as you may remember was 3pts for a win, 2pts for 2nd place and 1pt for 3rd place. There was no consistent point winner throughout the whole season with players collecting lots of their points in spells of fine form. Jenno for example won most of his points on the back of several outstanding displays in the early part of this year. If anyone's sufficiently interested attached is the record who got the points for each game. Roll on July for next year's fun and games!
  14. Ahh ofcourse - St Johnstone.....he says trying to sound convincingly like he remembers it. I still don't to be honest, the only thing I can mind from that day is the infamous quote about juggling soup, soot or whatever the fuck it was JG said he was juggling after it. Cheers for clearing it up though guys.
  15. Jennings two? Obviously he scored at the weekend but off the top of my head I'm struggling to remember when he scored before?
  16. I sort of agree. I don't mind the World Cup and will be watching as much as I can get away with but once the season's done and dusted I don't mind the wee break at all.
  17. Did you miss the two headers he scored in midweek? He has always provided a scoring threat since he came here albeit his goals have come in bursts rather than every other game. But where he has improved is exactly what you have asked for. The amount of headers he does win is absolutely tremendous be it on the wing or in a central position and allied to that I believe his ability to hold up the ball and link-up has come on a ton this season too.

    Jute,s Goal

Happened to have Sky Sports News on earlier and Jutkiewicz romped it. Had 44% of the vote and was some distance clear of the rest.
  20. Stating the obvious but its going to be really difficult. Despite the psychological blow Hibs will have suffered from Wednesday when it boils down to Sunday unfortunately I think they are still well capable of getting at least a point at Tannadice, which then puts us under major pressure to get at least a draw at Ibrox. But then I can't help but get my hopes up by thinking of some similarities to going there when we last managed a win - Motherwell battling against Hibs (different prize this time ofcourse), Rangers expecting to have a title party, afternoon kick-off and live on Sky. It surely couldn't go down like that Monday afternoon all those years ago could it?

    Mark Reynolds

I wasn't sad to see Gannon go but I do agree that labouring the point of where we were in December seemed as out of place of the apparent praise of McGhee reported to have been said in the AGM. Also agree with all the comments wishing Reynolds well if he moves on. He's another of those who I hope would go on to better things either down south or better still abroad and doesn't end up at Parkhead or Ibrox.

May be they are still sending the info. out to everybody? I got mine in on Saturday morning, but my mate Darryl's (whose listed at my address) only came in yesterday. In the letter they make mention of codes and regi numbers that you need when renewing online. I'd say give it to the end of the week then chase them up with a phone call.
