So you can’t go just now and buy the pass? Have to wait till tomorrow? I thought I’d go now and take care of it but looks like you can’t purchase ahead of time.

I think I read somewhere that the club are just checking out the quality and availability of the camera feeds tomorrow am before they open it up for sale in case it’s a dud.

  2. Reminiscing about Panathanaikos game in Athens a few years back and i think it'll be similar conditions.

Game kicked off at like 10pm local time or something like that, and it was 28/29c  even at that time. Team did alright and held their own just about in the first half, but fell apart in the second due to the heat. Difference being that Panathanaikos were clearly several steps above us in terms of squad, performance and experience - Hapoel are maybe only 1 step up on that one.

I think if we put in a decent team performance, it'll all come down to how we adjust to the heat. I would certainly argue that our team is fitter than they were back then.

The back page of The Sun reporting we have opened talks with Allan Campbell as we could lose him for 'buttons'.

(Saw it on the BBC Gossip page online, I didn't buy The Sun, honest!).

Aye. Apparently he's got a new contract under his nose now - ball is in his court.

  4. Wonder what the clubs travel arrangements will look like. Presumably flying out tomorrow - but the situation with Israel lockdown at the minute probably makes an overnight unpalatable (not to mention expensive) - but I guess it’s too far to travel out and back in the day, players would be fucked.

straight home after the match I’d think though.

That’s my recollection as well... the only one I could think of that was a decent (as opposed to great) result to go through was Aalesund

We haven't played anywhere near as many as them though - so the record could well be broken at some point. Of all the Scottish teams outwith OF - our ten year coefficient is better than all bar Aberdeen. That's respectable if you ask me. I suspect this may well be the end of the line - but I'd be feeling significantly more confident had it been a home tie, rather than necessarily the opposition themselves.

  6. Fuck it - go out there and give it our best shot. We're a fit team with decent legs, no denying that. They aren't world beaters, but are a good outfit nonetheless - and not playing in their own ground will remove some small element of advantage?

Can we dae it? Aye. Do we need the rub of the green? Yup.

Will we? Unlikely - but I have everything crossed!

  7. Whilst I'd be happy to donate some of my money on a regular basis to the WS - I would be much more confident in doing so if I knew more about how it was being used and more to the point, how it's communicated to the fan base.

How about donating a bit of time to the cause, which in turn leads to a clearer understanding on my part... meaning I'm then able to put my money where my mouth is! The Well Society should be reaching out more for voluntary help from people in business who have a vested interest. There are no doubt a number of people in our ranks (myself included) that could offer help, a critique eye and potential solutions in areas such as: running a business, maintaining an effective P&L, new business development, audience improvement techniques and ATL/BTL marketing.

Weren't they docked points becasue they cancelled without the permission of the league?

I remember listening to Danny Baker's show discussing this (or a similar case) where the club had said they cancelled "in fairness to the fans" because they couldn't put out a full strength team. His argument was that fans tend to appreciate that and if a team of youngsters had to be put out, any team's fans would give them total backing.

Having said that, I think McGhee made a good point in his press conference yesterday. Given the current battle for top spot, he wanted to be as fair as possible when we played Aberdeen and Celtic by putting out our strongest side in both.

Aye cos McGhee has shown his impartiality towards Celtic on dozens of occasions before now :)

  9. I understand its not for you Gaag; thats got to be your decision and yours alone. I also understand you have grave concerns about the deal, but I would say in response we don't know the details of it yet. As you have grave concerns, what alternative would you put forward? If the club and / or the Society were to share your serious concerns and decide not to proceed with this deal what should they or indeed can they do? Its a genuine question and for the life of me I just don't know what alternative solution is there.

The honest answer to the question you have posed incorporates my concerns.

The fact that we don't know the details yet are being rallied into donating more because of some "your club needs you" approach sticks with me a little. I wouldn't pay for any service or invest money in any other walk of life unless i had some semblence of what I'm getting into.

The fact that I care more about the club than I do for many other things I put money into is where it wrangles. It seems as though they are relying on peoples unconditional support to make an investment into something without giving them the respect or honesty to help them understand it better.

My serious concerns at this stage are based on a mixture of prior knowledge, complete lack of communication (some may even see it as bordering on misinformation) and the timings/financials of a deal that we know next to nothing about.

In my work when I am looking at new business acquisitions, there is a very distinctive, in depth and robust due diligence process that we go through - most often in situations where our employees or the public don't know anything about it. That's fine, no point in releasing information until you can speak with certainty. However the critical difference here is that we aren't asking our employees to put their hands in their pocket to pay for it.

As many people have stated - we don't owe the club anything. The club owes us their existence, and at the very least should that should flow throughout both the club and the Well Society. Bravery, Passion, Integrity and Transparency. It's not too much to ask, right?

  10. Not for me. Did my bit for 2 years - got fed up at the missed targets, lack of direction, terrible communication and poor outlook for the future.

I have grave concerns about this deal and what it will mean for the future of Motherwell FC. Hopefully I've got it all wrong,
