  1. If anyone managed to find a way to skim £750k from our books without being noticed they are a financial wizard - and should be working for Accies.
  2. Still destroys the integrity of the league format. Look at the English Championship this season. Ipswich, Leeds and Leicester fighting for the top spot with 87, 86 and 85 points respectively. If there are 3 promotion spots they deserve one each for their consistent form. Norwich, who are 6th and 21 points behind Leicester (and won only 19 games compared to Leicester's 27 wins) shouldn't even be in that conversation. Playoffs are a horrible American idea that should have stayed this side of the Atlantic.
  3. Unclear from the article which just states "Wages were up by around £800,000 last year to £5.2m compared to the previous year" but probably broken down in the filing if anyone wants to track it down.
  4. I agree about hating the split. It makes us look like a tinpot league and takes away some of the integrity of playing every team the same number of times. I also hate the playoffs for a similar reason. There is no way a team that finishes fourth should get a sudden death chance for promotion over the team that finished second after a full season. After Dundee Utd and Raith Rovers have opened a huge gap and been slugging it out every week, can you imagine if it was Dunfermline - 17 points behind - who got the shot at the playoff? Would be a travesty. I'd rather not have any play offs and prefer a straight 2 up, 2 down. If we do need to have one, however, then 2nd bottom vs 2nd top is the only way for me. I'm not going to make any predictions about the business end of the season yet. Once we know who we're playing (and where) I'll fire up the ZX Spectrum and figure it out.
  5. Using my best google fu, all I could find was the Shrewsbury Chairman pointing out they took a big hit during Covid, and after that they kept spending more than they were bringing in. I also see their wage bill rose £800k in the past season to £5.2 million (which seems a bit reckless if when you are racking up big losses - but that's club owners for you).
  6. If he'd been manager Taggarts showroom would have taken over Fir Park and we'd have ended up playing at Shawfield.
  7. Calm doon, people. It was a throwaway comment about our mediocre performance yesterday, not a peer reviewed mathematical proof.
  8. St MIrren have been terrible when I've seen them in recent weeks, but they met their match today. We always seem to struggle after a week off.
  9. The top half dream is dead. Long live the battle for 8th. And make your choice...
  10. It's still arriving an hour later than usual until they put their clocks forward this weekend.
  11. Love wee Al, but we'd have been in big trouble this season if we'd been relying on his goals rather than Spittal's.
  12. The Sportsound broadcast usually pops up as The Scottish Football Podcast on Sounds. At least the post-match segment. I haven't listened to it all, but the SK one at the weekend is pretty much all chat about Dundee Utd.
  13. Imagine having spent all that money on players like Moult and Watt and finishing runners-up to Raith Rivers,
  14. If he's back in the squad in June their first game is against Argentina.
  15. That was also true when they signed John Sutton, so you just never know - all you can do is take an educated guess. I have no problem with players signing pre-contracts (although I think they are a weird an unnecessary mechanism in a system that is already weird), but I think it's always best for all parties if they aren't made public.
  16. Aye, we're well aware from reading your posts that the club brings you nothing but misery.
  17. Being able to point to players who have gained international recognition after they signed for us is a great selling point when we are trying to recruit - especially when we can't compete on wages. Younger players being regular internationals adds to their value when we sell them. So whether or not you enjoy watching the national team, it's difficult to argue against the benefits it brings our club. From an injury perspective, we hurt more players in our own training than we lose to injuries playing with Scotland.
  18. Not to mention all the clubs are having to pay directly for VAR too.
  19. Disliked him as a player, dislike him as a coach. The Scotland setup has employed some pretty poor people over the years to develop our talent.
  20. Looking at the Italian ground, I think we should install one of those water slides beside Fir Park - could be a new source of revenue.
  21. Didn't fancy 6th place anyway. Take your pick...
  22. You are wrong, as we have beaten many teams that were on a bad run - the most recent being Livi, and a few games before that, we hammered Ross County. You (we) just tend not to remember them. Doesn't mean we won't have a tough game today, because Aberdeen are going to be fighting for their league survival (or at least they should be). So we need to make sure we are on it from kick off.
  23. Given they are top of the league I know this can't always be the case, but any time I have seen Utd in the Friday night game they have been pretty ordinary.
  24. He said he wouldn't "walk away and abandon the club" if CEO wasn't' in place before the end of March. More importantly, we'd be crazy to appoint a new CEO before a new investor comes in as they will want to impose their own structure and staff on the board. We don't want their first piece of business to be paying off the new CEO.
  25. Well Society Board meeting is on Monday. Might be a good question to submit to them. You can email questions to the same address that you receive the weekly emails from.
