That's my biggest gripe. I saw it used in a competition a couple of years ago - I think one of the CONCAF ones - where they had 30 seconds to decide to overrule. Anything longer than that and the decision on the pitch stood. Worked really well. The fact the VAR officials are from the same pool of refs that make poor decisions on the pitch doesn't help either. And the fact that the VAR officials often get to pick and choose what to review opens the whole process up to accusations of bias (rightly or wrongly) in favour of the "big" teams.

I'd still prefer no VAR and take the hit for the rare situation like that one.

I was watching that game live, and as well as no VAR, in real time it 100% looked like the keeper saved it. It wasn't until the 2nd replay the commentator noticed the handball.

Agreed. He was always a good physical presence to have in defence, but his overall performances have improved since he joined us and he's been on top form recently.

That was aimed at our Board's investment strategy rather than him, but I removed it anyway.

Our terrible league record against Rangers was liquidated the same time as them. If you want to really annoy them, point out that our record against New Rangers is much better than that.

Fans are becoming more and more impatient when comes to giving time for players to develop (and coaches to develop them). Watching players develop over the course of a season is one of my favourite parts of supporting a team like ours. I shouldn't be surprised when fans complain about a new recruit after 2 or 3 games, but sometimes it feels like they have no idea about the game - even though we have countless examples of players that turned out to be good (or great) after months of good coaching and first team exposure. There's always lots of chat about how we need to give youngsters a chance, yet guys like Bair and Slattery who were 22 and 23 when they joined us are expected to be at their peak, despite accepting Motherwell level wages. Of course, there are times when it doesn't work out. Even players with bags of skill and potential can fail; especially when they aren't prepared to learn (looking at you Dom Thomas), but there's needs to be a bit more realism when it comes to recruitment. It's different when we are signing a 27 year old, but when we are signing players with only a season (or less) behind them it's never going to be about instant success. And having written all that, I know nothing will change and 2 or 3 of our summer recruits will be written off as useless by September.

It certainly was. The manner of defeat was just a bonus.
