  1. The Sportsound broadcast usually pops up as The Scottish Football Podcast on Sounds. At least the post-match segment.

I haven't listened to it all, but the SK one at the weekend is pretty much all chat about Dundee Utd.

Sadly five subs but no Theo. Canada won 2-0 and both strikers scored. So hard for him to force his way in. At least no injury…..so far.

If he's back in the squad in June their first game is against Argentina.

I don't think he will be a bit player, Hearts are signing a proven goal scorer in the premiership

That was also true when they signed John Sutton, so you just never know - all you can do is take an educated guess.

I have no problem with players signing pre-contracts (although I think they are a weird an unnecessary mechanism in a system that is already weird), but I think it's always best for all parties if they aren't made public.

I disagree, his first act as CEO should be collating the head of social media and getting them to remove that dreadful patronising nonsense “we exist to improve people’s lives” from all platforms.

That’s what I would do anyway.

Aye, we're well aware from reading your posts that the club brings you nothing but misery.

  5. Being able to point to players who have gained international recognition after they signed for us is a great selling point when we are trying to recruit - especially when we can't compete on wages.

Younger players being regular internationals adds to their value when we sell them.

So whether or not you enjoy watching the national team, it's difficult to argue against the benefits it brings our club.

From an injury perspective, we hurt more players in our own training than we lose to injuries playing with Scotland.

100% behind the club in writing to the SFA. Maxwell needs to remember he is a servant of the clubs  as he is a paid official. We'll await developments with bated breath.

Not to mention all the clubs are having to pay directly for VAR too.

Get him home. Billy Stark is an utter joke as a coach.

Disliked him as a player, dislike him as a coach. The Scotland setup has employed some pretty poor people over the years to develop our talent.

Lennon Miller is playing for u19s right now against Italy. It's on the SFA YouTube channel. Kicked off at 2pm.

Looking at the Italian ground, I think we should install one of those water slides beside Fir Park - could be a new source of revenue.

Yup that is my fear.  When a team on bad run the Well always seem to be one they find form against.... hopefully I am wrong....COYW

You are wrong, as we have beaten many teams that were on a bad run - the most recent being Livi, and a few games before that, we hammered Ross County. You (we) just tend not to remember them.

Doesn't mean we won't have a tough game today, because Aberdeen are going to be fighting for their league survival (or at least they should be). So we need to make sure we are on it from kick off.

If he stays on after both setting a deadline to leave and refusing to look for a full time CEO it will be utterly absurd.

We really need a Q&A Society meeting to find out exactly what is going on.

He said he wouldn't "walk away and abandon the club" if CEO wasn't' in place before the end of March.

More importantly, we'd be crazy to appoint a new CEO before a new investor comes in as they will want to impose their own structure and staff on the board. We don't want their first piece of business to be paying off the new CEO.

He was always on Twitter posting regularly and answering fan's questions etc over the years but he hasn't been seen on that platform since early January. I know many of our fan's behaviour on social media was laughable but it must be stressful listening to Aberdeen fan's unrealistic expectations.

From what I read last week, it seems to have been a directive from Cormack to avoid social media:

    Quote

On X, formerly Twitter, Cormack posted: "Dons fans - @Alan_Burrows and I totally get your frustration. That was sickening to watch at the end in injury time today.

"The criticism that we are only on here when things are going well is fair, but that’s mainly because we cannot answer questions about our employees, like our players and coaches, or discuss detailed concerns which could impact morale.

  12. Having seen us finish 2nd a 3rd a few times, win the playoff against Rangers and make the top 6 from a last minute goal at Livi (to name just a few) I don't buy in to the old story about incapable of dealing with rising expectations.

Of course, the truth is that there isn't much to choose between 6 or 7 teams in our division, so any minor drop in performance can lead to a defeat against an evenly matched team.

If we're going to string a few results together, now would be a good time to do it, but Dundee just made it a wee bit harder for us to make the top six. Being at the expense of Aberdeen did soften the blow.

  13. I completely agree there needs to be a proper financial assessment and plan in place. Like all businesses that should start with an annual forecast and reviewed monthly to see what's working, what's not working and if anything needs to be changed.

Then it needs a proper review at the end of the year and fed back into the next year's planning.

That also feeds into my concerns about a new investor. As a fan owned club, a plan to break even every year is ideal as it gives us the maximum amount of cash flow to run the club without having to worry about dividends or profits for shareholders.

If an investor is expecting a financial returns then decisions could be made that are in the best interests of them rather than the club. There will be some overlap, but not always.

The biggest challenge with a football club is that in many ways it's not like a regular business. It's obviously a lot more difficult to attract customers from a rival product regardless of how attractive you make yours, so expanding your reach in the market is very difficult.

Likewise, you can't really introduce a new product line because football isn't working.

I also doubt there are many, if any, new ideas available as it's difficult to innovate for the same reasons. There are quite a few successful businessmen who have failed at football club ownership because of these built-in restrictions.

As I said, however, I am open to persuasion by a new owner, but I'll want to see all the details of the plan.

  14. There's no money to be made operating a football team in the Premiership. That's why the majority of them run at much bigger losses than us.

For me, that's why having an investor take control is a risk. They need to be a philanthropist with a passion for the game and the club, with no aspirations of making a profit. Even then, the club can be left in a major hole if they decide to walk away for any reason.

A secondary question is why would I (or any Society member) want donate money every month for the new owner's benefit so they can cash in a few years down the line?

I understand the current financial pressures too, but any new investment needs to be nailed down with multiple guarantees to safeguard the club - and I'm not sure any investor would be willing to meet those conditions.

I'm open to being persuaded, as I would love to see someone with the right intentions invest in us. I'm just not sure who that would be.

  15. He was on $81,375 guaranteed in his last season in Vancouver, which is about £65,500. That would be quite a drop in wages if that site is accurate.

(The Vancouver one is accurate because MLS teams have to publish their salaries every season).

  16. I think there is (or was) something in the charter about donating 10% of Society funds to charitable causes, but maybe one of the Board can confirm if that's still in play.

I'm more concerned about losing majority ownership, tbh, because if that happens I'm not sure where I stand when it comes to my contributions.

Will they even bother? Given their track record, they may just approach the person in question or their agent directly.

Do they have enough money to buy out another manager's contract? I thought an out of work candidate would be thier approach.

It works both ways. If refs want to be treated with more respect, they should stop being fucking useless at their jobs.

Do you not maybe think that the people that would make good refs have no inclination to be abused by cheating half-wits every week?

I think that horse bolted about 40 years ago.

They were supposedly cracking down on it again this season, but that lasted about 2 games.

It is ridiculous though. Football is really the only game where players can backchat to officials for an entire game with no consequence.
