  1. I'm not sure about current players or managers chipping as, when they move on, it could create a conflict of interest (however minor). McCall, for example, would have almost certainly voted 'yes' to keeping Sevco in the SPL. If the Society was loaded up with current players, they might be more inclined to vote for self-interest than club interest.
  2. That's right. The communication we received regarding voting read: "As was previously highlighted, the information supplied by the members can only be used by you, acting as a Society member, to evaluate the applicant’s suitability for the role of a Society Board member. The content shall not be used for any other purpose or disclosed to any third party."
  3. Those are both cracking wee grounds, but when you see that the Kalmaar cost over 22 million quid, then there is no chance of ever seeing us build a similar one.

    Ticket Pricing

Forest Green Rovers' cheapest season ticket is more expensive than ours. Their highest ever attendance is less than 5000. I have no idea what conclusions to draw from that, but it's pretty interesting. I picked them out as they used to be my local team, but other Blue Square clubs have similar pricing.
  5. My impression was that if you responded to Alison's email that you couldn't attend in person you would get an 'in absentia' vote.
  6. The Airdrie game was the worst for me because I was young and naive. We were flying high (for us) and for a kid like me, I thought playing a 'weaker' team would be an easy path to a final. If nothing else it taught me at an early stage in my supporting career that nothing is guaranteed with our mob.
  7. 2nd game. Edit: On the plus side, I bought my scarf for that tie and still wear it to the games.
  8. The one that upset me most when I was younger was losing to Airdrie in the Scottish Cup semi replay.
  9. Where did Andy say there was a weeding out process?
  10. Aye, but you're probably one of those people that thinks there's leg room on a plane too.
  11. Would be nice, but cost 25 million. More than 3 times the cost of a Barr effort like St. Mirren Park.
  12. I do come home from time to time you know, and go to the games. The only place I get legroom these days is at the cinema.
  13. It's not just about atmosphere. If you are sitting on a wee plastic seat with your knees on your chin and shoulders wedged between your two neighbours then it can be a miserable experience.

    Ticket Pricing

Apart from maybe playoff tickets, I don't see much evidence of it in American sports. At least round here, the economy is such that the New York baseball and football teams have had to reduce ticket prices across the board. They built fancy new stadiums and tried to hike their prices, but crowds dropped off. When I first moved over here, there was 10 year waiting list to get New York Jets season tickets (and they were even worse then than they are now). The list was closed. They have burned through that list the past couple of years to the extent that they are advertising season tickets for sale on the telly. Not only that, but they have a whole load of tickets for sale at $50 a pop. Similarly, the Yankees were in a battle for the pennant a couple of weeks ago and yet on Stub Hub you could pick up tickets for many of their games for less than $10. One game they were offering $4 tickets.
  15. I don't see how the latter is feasible either.
  16. He's useless and will definitely get us relegated. What were the club thinking? They took far too long to find someone so there is no time to bring in any new players now. It's going to be a long hard season.
  17. If I was living back home, moving to a lego stadium would run me very close to attending less matches. Unless there was terracing involved - then I could be persuaded.
  18. These days, it's just as easy to read electronic mags on the bog as paper ones. I'll bet there are a fair percentage of posts on here these days that are sent from the stalls.
  19. We shipped 2 goals to Celtic. They shipped 4 to ICT. If we get an early goal I think we'll win by a couple.
  20. Born in England to 2 Scottish parents makes him 100% Scottish in my book. My criteria for Scottishness/international football have always been: a) Born in Scotland or b) At least one parent born is Scotland. c) No exceptions. But that is another thread. As far as this one in concerned I don't see any chance McCall will even be invited to talk to Blackburn, far less get offered the job.
  21. If it was downloadable, I'd buy it.
  22. Player for player, Celtic are probably better in every position except for keeper. When they perform, there isn't a team in the SPL that will compete with them.
  23. Wikiepdia (for what it's worth) has him listed as centre-mid. EDIT: maybe not Wiki, but I found it somewhere earlier in the thread! EDIT EDIT: Found it. Says he's a right footed midfielder here, but no idea how accurate.
