  1. Think the main goal for us for this window/rest of the season would be to get contracts extended and keep the vast majority of the squad we have. That makes extending Lionel's contract a priority for me. Without him in the squad we have very few players that are rapidly quick and he also is a match winner. Got the feeling that if McGhee wasn't manager he'd be starting almost every week. Anyway, would like to see Moult and Skippy get extensions too.

If we are looking to bring someone in, we need a Marvin Johnson replacement, a quick, creative left sided midfielder. Also, if Brill isn't getting a chance when Samson is consistently this poor then a new keeper has to be brought in, feel really sorry for Brill. After that I think we would have a very strong team once everyone is fit.

Think a left back and a left sided centre half are more long term targets but hopefully Chalmers can kick on and be the player we need at left back and I'd really like to see Louis Laing get a few chances after his loan is up. Feel that he's much better than Kennedy and I'd rather him than the alternative.

Inclined to agree with all of this, but I feel that Laing is looked on as a lost cause to McGhee.

  2. Decent game. Cancelled each other out. McManus hoofing it diagonally wide will never impress me, but the defending side of things was good today, from all of our back four. Samson was also there.

Lasley is done. I've been avoiding the thought but watching him a yard too slow to even make a cynical foul, followed by the booking, for which he was extremely late, suggest that the legs are away.

Going forward, we definitely missed Cadden but still carved a few chances out. I feel we'll be pretty comfortable between 5th and 8th come the end of the year.

  3. The problem with McManus is that the idea of him does not match the reality. A big powerful ex-international, what's not to like?

I now have an irrational dislike of him so much so that him pulling his socks up after every play is beginning to annoy me.

I agree with this, and I am absolutely gutted to. I really liked him with Celtic and Scotland, and was genuinely delighted when we got him, even in the downswing of his career, but he's been absolutely cack, and appears to have the heart, wit and nous of a small rodent.

  4.

McGhee has a pretty good track... ...manager etc.

A good point well made. In terms of my own, I more meant to suggest that for all of the 'McGhee haters', and I must admit, I'm not his biggest fan, he's still getting a relatively easy ride from the fanbase as a whole based on being a known face. Not so much comparing him to Baraclough in particular as saying that, in isolation, as opposed to looking at his previous reign, (again, the recognisable face, as opposed to an unknown 'outsider') his performance recently has been dire, with no sparks to suggest an imminent improvement.

Keeping in mind, of course, that this forum can occasionally be a petri dish for the more...extremely opinionated fans.

  5. All I can say is that by this point last season, my eyes were starting to bleed reading 'Baraclough' and 'imposter' in one sentence.

McGhee is getting a relatively easy ride on name value alone.

  6. I enjoyed a wee listen to McGhee as regards the game. He sounds as if he has us well lubricated for the unstoppable Celtic to plunge our throats. Dembele is worth a wee chuckle because he's like Messi to our heifers at the back.

Hell, he managed to mention us while fellating his glorious hoops, as even they, 'at their level' can take a skelping off Barca, and if our strikers turn up, we may scrape a goal off the juggernaut. He mentioned us!!! In a presser about Celtic, Motherwell squidged in a few words
