Spineless . One word to describe tonight’s performance.
Good Motherwell teams who did well in the past had a strong spine to them . By that I mean goalkeeper ,centre half , centre mid and centre forward .
These four key positions through the centre are crucial .
The spine of the team tonight was pathetic .Kettlewell must make some big decisions and the first one must be to replace Kelly in goals .
Next Mugabi must be taken out the team . Six feet god knows and built like a tank yet gets bullied .
That leaves centre mid . IMO don’t have one as we play this box midfield tippy tippy nonsense.
And lastly centre forward . No way would I be hanging my coat on him .
very poor player . Again six foot whatever and can’t even header a ball .
Lastly fair play to Halliday . Wasn’t keen on him coming to club but he looks like the only one in the team with an actual football brain .As I say spineless team
Kelly needs replacing full stop ……has never been big enough and is costing us cheap goals every other match due to his lack of height and presence on our goal line never mind the 6 yard box………. he should be no where near our national team

All I would say was of those 16 appearances how many were starts? I don't see him starting many but it at least gives cover for Bair and Vale as I wouldn't rely on Obika being fit
We are actually unbeaten in the games “Super Oli “ has started…….the rest have mainly been 70/80 mins plus when we were chasing games
Obviously SK agin feels he is someone he can work on

I thought the referee's performance and St Johnstone's antics warranted a separate post.
Colin Steven was never in control of the game and quite bluntly St Johnstone took the p**s. He was too easily conned and made a constant stream of inconsistent and erroneous calls. How Phillips wasn't sent off I'll never know. The incident near the end when he went down injured, told to get up and go off and then fell down a yard or two from the touch line! Farcical. Craig Levein's influence all over that! Am I right in thinking too that players are not allowed to harangue the referee during the VAR process? Not completely one sided though as Butcher should have been carded. He spoiled the game and made one serious wrong call that affected the result.
St Johnstone were as we thought they would be....cynical streetwise and physical. Gamesmanship started even before kick off. The piutch was bumpy and heavy. Why then heavily water our goal (the lowest part of the pitch and where water drains to btw) before 3pm? This sort of practice should be stopped by the SFA. Also one of the more eagle eyed members of our group spotted a wheeze with the ball boys several times. The ball goes out of play for a throw in; ballboy A collects it and passes it to ballboy B 10 yards further up the pitch who then throws/places the ball on the pitch for the St Johnstone player to take the throw in thereby sneakily gaining 10 yards.
Rant over.
Stevens first game as grade 1 ref in SPFL was in May2019 ( 2013 till then worked up through lower leagues)at SJFC when chopped off a perfectly good goal and denied us a stonewall penalty…….since then he has BUMBLED refereeing around SPFL championship div 1 etc……he has NEVER officiated in a game involving the ugly sisters ( perfectly good reason ) as he is diabolical………. Yet week in week out non Old firm teams are allocated these clowns until they are deemed good enough…is it different rules they play with ???????

It was Hibs for the darts and it came from our side of the fence sadly.
Remember the incident ……. was in the junior choir down the front (12 1 St year at Dalziel) ……I m sure the daily rancid/sunday mail had a picture of the unfortunate dart board head

Started off very well when he first broke through but failed to develop. Not up to Dundee's standard apparently.
He’s played 271 games for Dundee and was awarded a testimonial earlier this season 31st in all time appearances …. Docherty obviously doesn’t fancy him… always looked tidy enough when he’s played against us
Rudden again surplus to requirements after Mains arrival……… thought he had a good game against us in December 3-3 draw ……I’m sure we were in for him when he was at the Jags but Dundee offered him more dosh
Kwould have went for Rudden before Main……..is he better than what we’ve got ????

St Mirren away in next round. Probably the toughest draw we could have got.
I think is an excellent draw ……… nice easy away day (travel wise) and with the first two league fixtures will show exactly the way our season is going to pan out
oh an a Mandron wonder goal 🤪

No need to be confused. What you describe is actually a “collarette”. A “sash” is worn over the shoulder. Ours is a diagonal band
The “collarette” their father wore…….don’t think that will catch on 😘

Some bonkers chat on social media re the new away kit
We have had various home/away kits with a diagonal band/“sash”………unless I mistaken the sash worn by the Orange order is worn round the neck and meets around the midriff in a “V” and is orange and purple ………how does our new away kit resemble this ???
Confused from Motherwell

Lovely kit….always like a hoop…..thought we might have went with amber 🩳 this season….white shorts is always my preference

More from UBH
During Motherwell’s 1920’s touring heyday we wore claret and amber stripes. Who’s up for an anniversary shirt revival of this era for one Season ?
-
From UBH on Twitter
I would also support a Summer Cup shirt revival at some point.
In 2024-25 it will be 60 years since we won it. It also evokes memories of a young Faddy who wore a Summer Cup inspired design in season 2002-03.- 5

I know the new kit will be sorted……but after seeing the disturbances at Boca/River Plate game…….why not this in C&A
it’s not hard
-
The hoop/band has been present in most home kits for the past 20 years apart from this season and sash kit 2015/16
hopefully will continue next season …..I prefer white shorts but not fussed if they are amber or claret
claret has been used most over the past 10 years Couple of seasons in amber and 3 white……possibly back to amber ???
Hopefully something like the Puma 125 anniversary kit would suit a traditionalist like myself

Simple goal, again the basics not being done with dreadful awareness by Penney
Eh…….Lamie pointed and walked away from Nesbit (centre forward) to mark another player, leaving Penney between 2 players at the back post

One of the poorest visiting Rangers teams in years and very poor defending presents them with two goals
Morris seems to be the current boo boy blame hound………he didn’t have a full preseason ….and has started 3 league games and been a sub on 4
Has not started a game since the 5th Aug………was he any worse than today than Tierney,Mcinstry or KVV who as usual over elaborated nearly every time he got possession of the ball then gave it away very cheaply…...did he let a player run half the length of the park unchallenged lose his player for a free header….no
Probably wouldn’t have started today because of injuries…….Is he good enough to be at FP ??? Time will tell…….his biggest crime is he was signed by GA
