  1. we must surely have the worst head to head record against the old firm sides from any other top flight Side
  2. I might be in the minority however i actually thought we were awful yesterday. We actually defended reasonably well across the back 4 but middle to front we were powderpuff. We know the squad is a complete mess, but yesterday shows just how far off it we are. Other than Cornelius running about a lot, Maguire and Goss offered absolutely nothing whatsoever, chasing shadows and when the did get the ball, they were utterly incapable of keeping it. The front 3 were also hopeless, nothing stuck, no interplay and massive distances between them so they were all totally isolated. Van Veen is so frustrating to watch but i could understand yesterday why he started to look a bit pissed off - shields and Spittal cuddled the touchline the entire time. It could and probably should have finished 4/5-1. Oh, and Morris can just disappear thanks.
  3. Aarons isn’t a bad signing. It actually makes a lot of sense considering that Hammell still seems to want to play 3 up top and both Efford and Morris are absolutely pish - so we needed another option. What is doesn’t change however is that we have less than 48 hours to get the spine of the team sorted. We are still a CB, CM and CF short
  4. Yesterday definitely alleviated some fears but it’s quite clear that we need some quality additions (and hopefully some going out). 5 additions needed IMO first choice left back first choice Centre half first choice striker first choice winger squad player central midfielder If we can move on ojala, Mcginley, efford and one-legged Morris that would be great thanks
  5. After reflecting on it, I have come to a single point - sack the board. Hammell is a club legend and has been a great servant to the club, without question. He speaks well and am sure will give it his all but this must be the laziest and panicked decision we could have made. It's a decision that reeks of self-preservation of a group of largely older accountants that make up our board who have come under a fair bit of stick themselves for allowing Alexander to remain in place for so long and are now leaving Hammell out to dry, fully aware that being a Hall of Fame legend that he will get a bit of a longer leash from a support which has been pretty venomous of late. McMahon's statement is absolutely laughable. "An integrated club" - drivel. How the club is run shouldn't be down to the manager, it should be from the board. I posted way back when that we should have a director of football in place or something equivalent rather than being at the whims of individual managers. It was clear that we fully bought in Alexander's particular brand of eye bleeding shite and Mcmahon's statement proves it - we have completely lost control within our management. The identity of the club should never be down to the manager, the manager should be there to execute, tweak and optimise - that's why companies have managers, directors and CEO and boards. In no other business model (or many clubs these days) would a manager decide the direction of the club. With the greatest respect to Hammell, how can it be possible for him to run what McMahon states to be the biggest department in the club as the academy and then for him to surprise you in the interview? Surely if the guy has been there for 5 years in that role and 20 odd before that as a player then you would have a very solid idea of his beliefs and you could have given him the role either prior to Alexander or wouldn't have bothered with the interviews if you were so impressed. I hope Hammell succeeds, I really do but he was not what we needed. We needed new ideas, a change in structure and fresh faces in the squad. As a club, Motherwell have asked the support to back the club again and again which they have. Record Season Ticket Sales, jersey sales, well society and all the rest but the support are having the wool pulled over their eyes by a board and CEO who's time is up.
  6. ———————Kelly ——McGinn—-Mugabe—-Solholm O’Donnell——Maguire———Carroll ———-Cornelius——-Slattery ———————-Spittal ——————-Van Veen Putting together any form of attacking threat with our starting line up is close to impossible. We NEED another striker, left back, centre half and central midfielder
  7. Unfortunately, I can’t see anything other than a bottom 3 finish on the horizon. We are extremely devoid of quality, confidence, strikers, competent centre halves and a plan. All in all, this is going to be a pretty dire season.
  8. Utterly embarrassing in the cold/warm light of day. Loosing to largely weaker sides early on in European competition isn’t the issue - it has happened to nearly all Scottish teams. The core issue is the management and board. We have been staring at a weak frontline since January and Watt’s departure and done nothing to address it. We have known we needed a centre half but allowed Lamie back into the fold (fair enough but if he was deemed surplus to requirements, why is he the best we have to offer now?). We have known left full back is an issue but have done nothing to fix it. We have know the formation didn’t work for 5 months at the start of the year but have done nothing to fix it. We have known that the style of football didn’t work for 5 months but have done nothing to fix it. The result isn’t a surprise and neither is the utter stubbornness shown by the manager. Get him out. Win next week or not - we’re a fan owned club and the fans are being short changed by all invovled.
  9. There's very little you can take from friendlies. They are boring and pedestrian. One thing you can take however is that we desperately need another striker that doesn't just play across the front 3, but is actually a striker. And we're still powderpuff in midfield.
  10. It’ll be some laugh with a front 3 of shields, efford and Morris
  11. Probably like others, it's a bit of a meh signing for me. For me, like most, we are still 3 players short. A left back, centre half and a central striker. I would have also liked to see us bringing in another central midfielder but it seems like the chances of that are slim to none. So far, we are looking at ------------------Kelly ----Mcginn-----Solholm---Mugabe------ O'Donnell-----------------------------? ----------------Maguire ---------Slattery-----Spittal------- ------Van Veen------Woolery It's a serviceable team - probably bottom six - but missing quality and someone to drag us up the pitch. Subs: Fox Ojala Lamie Johnston Goss Carroll McGinley Tierney Efford Shields Morris I would still like to see us get shot of Goss, Carroll, McGinley & Efford but as they say, it's the hope that kills you. I just can't help but feeling we would get so much more value of 2 quality salaries rather than these 4 imposters.
  12. Well. At least he’s better than Marc Fitzpatrick reincarnated, Sean Goss
  13. Posted in the Celtic thread but better here: If we needed any further clarification, yesterday proves how critical this summer is. We absolutely must bring in a first choice left back, 2 centre halves, 2 central midfielders and 2 strikers in the summer; all of whom need to be first choice starters. That’s 7 players and the spine of a team that we desperately need. We need a couple of senior leaders in the middle of the park and central defence. The rest are simply not up to it: Carroll, McGinley, Grimshaw, Nierenold, Goss, Donnelly, Amaluzor, Roberts, Efford should all be away by the time European competition starts. It’s a huge summer. ———————Kelly SoD/Mugabi——X———X———X —X—Slattery/Cornelius——X —X———-Van Veen——X Subs: Fox Solholm Ojala Woolery Maguire Shields Tierney

  15. Scenes you love to see. Shitfesting our way to Europe. fuckin yas
  16. It’s a pretty terrifying list. From this, realistically you’d need to be looking at a serviceable premier league first team of: ———————-—-Kelly O’donnell/Johnston--Solholm/Bevis—X—X ———-—-Slattery—-X——X —-X———Van Veen————X Subs: Fox Morrisson Maguire Ojala Cornelius Shields Woolery Tierney Offloading Mcginley Carroll (out of contract) Grimshaw (out of contract) Lamie (pre) Nierenoold (out of contract) Goss (shite) Shaw Donnelly (contract) O’Hara (contract) Amaluzor (contract) Roberts (contract) Efford (shite) IMO The scary part here is that realistically, I see us needing 6 first team starters next season whilst offloading deadwood or utter garbage like Goss, Efford and McGinley to avoid going into next season as favorites for the drop. I agree with the 22/23 first team squad approach. I’ve been crying out for years that culling the squad to that number and condensing 6 salaries into 2/3 would be enough to all but ensure us top six in Scotland. I’m beyond the point of even considering Alexander of being up to the job so the question in my mind now lands at the board - who within that group has the vision for the footballing side of things to make the infrastructural changes required?
