Not sure if anyone else noticed two un-naturally large coloured guys sitting in the foyer tonight after the game? Were these our trialists? If so the lack of physical presence will soon be put to bed?
  2. I go to every game with my grandfather who has been watching Motherwell week in week out for 65+ years, and he made the comment tonight "keep going the way we are going with this team and this will be the best collection of youth since the Ancell Babes". As he often talks of that side I found that a very poignant comment. Slane has the makings of the next Mcfadden, well played!!! Mon the Well!

  4. It's amazing. Even from thousands of miles away Fitzpatrick is still to slow and O'Brien is still rotten
  5. They've got wages and expenses to maintain

I heard that apparently Hughes wages at Fir Park were higher than that? From what I heard the club wage structure payed him around £3000 per week with a £5000 personal funding from Boyle? Maybe rubbish, But to my knowledge he and Porter were on the same deal?

Oh well boo hoo for Mcgarry. Honestly, if you think we could survive with a player of that calibre starting each week then I'll be sure to wave to you when we are travelling to places like Firhill, Almondvale and the Caledonian Stadium

I'm not binning, Hammell or Sutton , simply finding more effective players to do their job, if you read carefully youll see the only offloaders are Fitz DLS and Mcgarry, who no matter now much he tries is absolute unadultered crap. And btw if you think O'Brien winging is to show commitment for the team, you are a poor judge of character. People like him want what is best for themselves, and tbh i would mind so much if he the ability to carry it off

Well 24 hours on...it seems that now that we (may) have calmed down a little, the damage can be examined with more objectivity. Before last nights escapade I believed we needed 6 players to really settle the squad and build for next season, after all of the departures and unrest. After seeing what we are left with however, the problems may be far deeper. Starting at last nights XI Fraser- Doubts were raised over his signing, but I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. Many will say he didn't have much to do last night, but the fact is, we conceded a goal, in territory where I would expect a keeper to be easily assured every day of the week. I can recall at least 3 occasions where he was rooted to his line (not inspiring confidence!). He may do as backup but I feel we are in desperate need of a new keeper - Player 1 needed Saunders- He has the basics of his game there, but he like Murphy seems to be suffering from bowts of anorexia overcoming our younger players. Gaining a physical aspect would be enough to secure him a place IMO, so I believe we are covered there. Craigan- IMO, although at fault for the goal last night he is our best defender. He adds much needed experience, and can be very assured. Without doubt a starter! But, age, and injury may be against him - Player 2, cover but not replacement! Reynolds- Has his critics, but IMO is a very talented player. He has the attribute of pace not common amonst centre halfs in the SPL so IMO without doubt a starter. Hammell- I feel his game is too limited, and although he isn't bad at coming forward, he doesnt inspire me with confidence when the needed aspect of defending comes into play. - Player 3 needed replacement. Murphy- For me, in no way shape or form should he be starting. Not a bad impact player to have on occasion, but he is a stone under weight, and cant handle players roughing him up a bit, which unfortunatly is totally useless in the scottish style of the SPL. I would in noway get rid of him but, he really needs ' coaching'. BUT in the back of my mind, i have a nagging doubt, that despite weight gain and whatever else, i am not sure whether he has the mentality to change his game, I maybe wrong- Player 4 needed replacement Lasley- Was rank rotten last night, but IMO is generally a good player, and only last season, until christmas, was IMO the best player in C & A. Not the commanding type that he was asked to play as a role last night but he can be good as a worker with players around him, so he is a definate starter. Forbes- Think that he could turn into a useful asset. People complain about his lack of forward play last night, but that maybe down to nerves. I cant remeber him loosing the ball to often and he seemed to always find an amber jersey, for now I would persevere as a starter. Mcgarry- The less said the better. First division player. For all he tries he is simply crap- Player 5 needed replacement. O'Brien- Has his fans, but IMO i cannot for the life of me see why. He does nothing but fancy flicks going sideways, looses the ball then complains to other people for his mistakes. Plus he is up there with the worst crossers in wing play I've ever seen- Player 6 Replacemet needed! Sutton- Can score goals, and I dont think it is totally fair to judge him solely on last night playing as a loan striker, but to be fair I dont think his link up play with a partner ie Clarkson or Porter was great either. Doesnt win enough headers for his size- Player 7 replacement needed. Slane- Maybe jumping the gun here, but I think this guy could be a ready made replacement for O'Brien. Fearless running at players and can BEAT a man unlike O'Brien. Was the star for me last night, and hey he can hit the target to (O'Brien anyone) McHugh- For me showed more attacking threat than Sutton did the whole game. Very eager looking and I think a very good prospect. Fitzpatrick & DLS- Says it all that these guys could in one shape or form force their way ino the team last night. Have always thought Fitzpatrick was rotten end of. DLS I do believe has talent, but I suspect his time with the Aberdeen tit has ruined his career through stutering performances when he was playing well. Sad to say but he is done. The other three guys on the bench- Far too early to say, but they have obviously impressed at one level or another...so we shall see. Anyway, recap. IMO I would go the whole hog and offload Mcgarry, Fitzpatrick, and DLS to try and free more wages. We have signed Jennings in the midfield, which would seem the Mcgarry replacement? Anyway needed: 1 Keeper 2 Defenders- Cover, and a new left back 4 MORE Midfielders - 2 to take the places of Murphy and O'Brien, and 2 as cover 3 Strikers- Not only as a Sutton replacement but backup in order to change shape etc. There we are 10 players IMO on top of Jennings are SERIOSULY needed, i maybe living in cloud cuckoo land when I say that, but being brutally honest its the way I see it. We will trully see what Gannon is made of here, but also to remeber that with all this movement and influx of players it wont all be rosy at first as players need to adjust to one another but hopefully on a crux of mainly youth, that can happen quicker. Let the fun begin.
  10. I to be honest would like to commend Gannon for tonight. He has spotted the arseholes after only a couple days (Fitzpatrick and the later hooked O'Brien) Well done!!! Anyway we could wipe more wages....Hammell, Fraser, Sutton and Mcgarry are rotten at the best of time.....nothing new there. Good to see the young guys getting the chance...but...although this may be controversial IMHO...Murphy wont cut it....he needs to be putting at least a stone in weight on to cope wih the physical aspect...but something about his mindset seems off? I maybe wrong. Slane..Mchugh...Forbes..Saunders........well done for standing out amongst that drivel!. Embarrassing!!!!

Aparently....Reynolds is due at Burnley for a medical, Very reliable source inside the club.

FFS!!! is this club intent on self imploding????? £600-800K christ almighty you would be lucky to find a player in league 1 down south for that kind of cash and here we are getting rid of our best (international) striker and some folk on here are saying that seems fair?? Logic people???? My god we had a pathetically small squad last season which realistically we needed to add 5 or 6 players who could play first team football in my opinion, that was before this Clarkson leaving, possibly Quinn and Mclean. Now we need what possibly 10? players between now and August?? I buy a season ticket to put money into a club which I hope will make steady improvements, but this is actually ridiculous. Realistic SPL survival team needed for next season: ------------------------------------New Keeper (Fraser on ICT form not good enough) New right back----------------Craigan----------------Reynolds-------------Hammell New right midfiled-----------New Central Midefiled--------Lasley-----------New left midfield ---------------------New Striker--------------------New Striker Bench: Fraser New Defensive Cover New Midfield Cover New Midfield Cover Obrien Mcgarry Fitzpatrick Sutton
  13. This is no bull and straight from inside the club...the man to put money on is Patrick "Pat" Fenlon of Bohemians, won the double in his first year and apparently we are tightening the belt and therefore he will cost less than say a Nijholt or Mccalister. I am not fishing before anyone starts...just heard from someone in the loop at Fir Park.
  14. I'd sack every steward and erect statues of Robo with the customary sunglasses of course, the guys a legend

I don't even know where to begin with this crap: For a start I'm 18 and still playing football....so you're idea of not being up to date with the modern day game it completely bollocks. And for someone who thinks there of a higher opinion mate....here's a couple of facts: The modern day game is ruthless when it comes to getting rid of what it sees as players who are not good enough...that is why myself like many others players I play with have had chances to play with other clubs at youth level but have not made it through...we had the ability and the trials...but not the x factor a lot of clubs expect at that level. That x factor is what I am talking about here with half of these players who DONT have it. I'm not into this Motherwell til I die f**k common sense pish, i'm looking at the thing objectively from my point of view...and experiance of playing football. So go on...if you think you know more about the "modern game" as you put it...enlighten me with your words of wisdom.
  21. Totally agree that we need to play some younger guys but with the fact that all of these teams are sides that purely on footballing ability we should beat however with ourselves being the only ones with nothing to play (to throw them in at the deep end for a sink or swim type idea) for I'd still go with: ------------------------------------Coutts ------Saunders-----------Mclean-------------Craigan----------------Reynolds -------------------------------------Lasley ------------------Slane----------------------------Meehan ------------------------Murphy------------Clarkson ----------------------------------McHugh

Lets not forget....in the end we are going to finish 7th or possibly lower this season!!!...do you honestly think this is good enough?....take off the Motherwell tinted specs and look at it reasonably surely anyone with half a brain knows that around half that squad are inadequate

After the disappointment of missing out on the top 6, and whatever benefits may come from it now has to be (and is a great time), to get rid of the deadwood still floating around the club and bring in a bit of freshness over the summer to try and reinvigorate the squad. Its important to look at it man by man. Going on the basis of today's squad: Smith - In my opinion has always been average. Has no control over the penalty area at doesn't install confidence whatsoever at corners or crossed balls. He is a good shot stopper but there is more to being a keeper than that. He appears to have a strange misconception over this contract issue that he may get a better move and he is better than Motherwell? I would love to know why. Anyway we have Fraser coming from Inverness, who I don't see as a bad replacement. Get Rid Of. Mclean - I think the guy is a very talented football player, and probably the most technically gifted defender at the club, he can play at centre half or right back, and don't forget when we signed him he was a right sided midfielder. Although he has problems with fitness. Keep Craigan - Its been shown earlier in the season that we sorely miss him when he doesn't paly, despite plenty supporters whinging every time he gets the ball. Very solid SPL centre half and adds good experiance. Without doubt. Keep. Reynolds - Well I was honeslty really happy we managed to hang on to him last summer. He does some stupid bloody things at times, but in the realsm of the SPL, he has the very rare comodity of pace for a centre half. Still I think he needs to beef up a little, but he is still only young and on the whole is a good player. Keep. Hammell - I know its been a while but he is not Jim Paterson . He isn't a very good defensive defender , and has tendancies to be dragged from the play. Useful to have around the squad but I feel we need a new left back ( Or midfielder if your MMG ). Not a stater by any manner but for now. Keep. Quinn - Obviously now regarded as something of a utility man by MMG. He isn't the most gifted player on the planet. I think he is something of a liabilty, and has the talent -which many magicians spend their career chasing- disappearing. Get Rid Of. Hughes - Don't dount for a second that he has talent, and on his day is probably the best technical player at the club. But this season has been something of a let down. Progressing is all about holding on to your better players though. Undoubtably is commanding a big wage...may be a struggle but. Keep Klimpl - He is a very industrious player. Quite frankly he adds a bit of quality. He is very comfortable with a ball at his feet and has shown (with the exception of last weeks Rangers visit) he can rise to the ocassion for more competative games unlike many others. Although he will be looking for bigger wages. Keep O'Brien - When he first started playing persoanlly I would have shown him the door after his three months accumlated 20 minutes. Then he came on to a bit of a game. Now he is back to where he started. Over the past few weeks his one man band impressions have started again, and it doesnt help that he doesnt have the talent to match it. Not strong enough and not good enough. Get Rid Of Clarkson- Just now he is far and away the best striker at the club with a good work ethic, but from last season showing he needs to be playing beside good players ie. Porter and Mccormack. He doesnt score enough goals and gets too bogged in trying be a midfileder at times...but he is the best of a bad bunch . Keep Sutton - For some reason I like sutton as a player. He is capable of scoring goals against every club outside the top three I would say so has found a level...but its not good enough. However, he didnt have a pre-season with us last year so hopefully that will help him stop looking as if he is in agony after 55 minutes....for now anyway. Keep Fitzpatrick - Quite simply, ineffectual on too many occasions ,may put in a shift for some clubs but not good enough for where we want to be, cant pass and for a supposedly breaky up type midfielder, he is far too guilty of running beside players too much. Get Rid Of. Darren Smith - Im going to go against the majority here and say he is not a bad player....what he needs is time on the pitch...he has been shown in the past to have scored goals from midfield, which we haven't done a lot of recently. I would be giving him one more season before I said bye to him so must get better quickly but for now. Keep. Mcgarry - Quite a difficult one. He tries his damdest when he is on the park...but he is not a good enough player despite how endearing he is to the support. Get Rid Of Lasley - Very compotant player, and earlier in the season I thought despite all the drivel was our outstanding man, good player to have around the squad. Keep Malcolm - Was surprised MMG wasnt offered a job in B&Q after his signing... he obvoiulsy knows a lot about planks of wood. His wage must be ridiculous. Get Rid Of Murphy - I know he is very young, but by god somebody feed this guy. He really needs to bulk up a bit to compete, but obviously one for the future. No brainer. Keep Sheridan - And we slagged Callum Elliot...this guy is just as bad. I wouldn't keep him if he was going free in the summer, and anyway why are we training guys who are goin to be playing against us next year? Crazy...Get Rid Of The rest of our youngsters should be given a run against SPL standard players in there last fe games to see whether they look as if next season they can step up to the mark. Loans - Why do we insist of bringing loans in when they never even get a look in? They are either good enough or they aren't...if not get one of the young guys in...they are undoubtly going to be at the club longer ie. Krysiak and Aydilek Mcghee & Leitch- Neither inspire confidence in the summer...if MMG goes ( and I pray he does) there is chance the Leitch should be the next manager, he isnt experianced enough and gets too involved in pitch affaires to take a step back and look analytically to tbe a manager, I beleive its just part of who he is? Maybe I'm wrong?....Butcher and Malpas anyone? Anyway out of the 20 names mentioned there are 9 players I would punt, plus the manager if he feels the urge to leave. I think we need: 2 Strikers - Someone with a bit of quality who knows where the net is...and some a bit more tricky who doesnt necessairly score goals but can get at teams. 4 Midfileders - Someone in a Obua of Hearts type mold, with a athletic physical type presence..Someone who can break and knows where the net is. And two players for both sides of the midfield. 2 - Two new full backs allowing Mclean to beocme to become a fully fleged centre half, and putting pressure on places for Quinn and Hammell. So there wer have it 9 out 8 in its a simple as that
