It's not really remarkable that we've been in the top flight all this time. We have the 7th/8th largest support in the country and a budget that goes along with that. Out of a league of 10/12, it makes sense. Dundee United/Hearts/Hibs yo-yoing is down to very bad management rather than the law of averages. What's more remarkable than us not being relegated is that we haven't won a trophy for 30 years despite 90 available opportunities being available.

Is protecting our top flight status, the "Welcome to our great we club" patter for the over 30's?

Gallagher was never a bad player but the way he conducted himself was awful. I never understood the abuse of Tait and especially Hartley - two guys who clearly gave everything on the park and who's attitude was never in doubt.

We haven't done so yet and even if he does sign, it will take time to settle and most likely he'll be playing alongside Ricki Lamie which automatically will make him worse.

Correct however you can clearly see that we are hugely disjointed in our movements with large gaps between defense, midfield and attack. Hopefully the return of Donnelly can in someway ease back to middle however moving the ball middle to front requires players that we simply do not have. My bigger concern than that lies at center half. Both Lamie and Mugabe have too many mistakes in them and whilst I haven’t seen enough of O’Connor, physically, he’s going to be bodied by most of the strikers in the league. We’ve never replaced Hartley and added to that, Gallagher, who whilst I wasn’t crying about leaving, was clearly our best central defender last season has also gone with no replacement. If you cannot create and score goals, at least be hard to beat, my fear is that we have neither attribute.

Unfortunately, I cannot see us finishing above 10th. We’re kicking off a season without the centre halves we badly needed and a creative midfielder that we’ve been crying out for since Turnbull left. I fear the first round of fixtures will Be a complete write off for us. Another turgid, shite season incoming I fear.

I’ve always been a fan of Odoffin who has performed very well in the league in an otherwise crap accies side. Ali Crawford is another I’d realistically like to see at fir park

Not Happening now obviously but a player like Taylor is exactly what we needed when it was mentioned previously. Senior with experience of the league. It takes time for players to get up to speed to the Scottish game, which is fine, as long as it isn’t the players we’re relying on week in week out to get us points.

So we’ve taken what is effectively a punt on another unknown young prospect with a lack of game time. We desperately need leaders and experience

Dreadful. We've known we have needed 2 centre halves and 2 central midfielders since at least March yet here we are4 months later and 10 days away from the 1st league match and still missing a spine to the team. Why are we waiting for the ‘right’ players? When it’s clearly crucial roles, you make your targets the best offers you can or at least offers you believe match their contribution, give them a deadline and move on if they reject the contract - how difficult can it actually be? We need to get the spine of the team sorted and bedded in a week….

As an aside, we had two obvious jerseys to fill, in Campbell and Gallagher, we’ve achieved neither… rushing is one thing, plugging a leaking roof (as much as I disliked Gallagher) is another

At what point should we rush? 4 weeks Into the league campaign or maybe January?

I’m sorry, I just don’t think that loosing 2-0 at home to a team a division below you, having created one clear chance, is acceptable at any point of the season
