  1. With hearts in third on goal difference and us having played two games less then this next three weeks is massive. First is dunfermline on Tuesday and then st Johnstone followed by hearts. Win these games and we can have a great psychological boast and put us right back on track. So craigen you are the leader of the team, hammer hutch hately you are the rocks in defence, raNdolph the saviour Jenny and Lesley you guys are the powerhouse,Ojamma show us what you can do, law murphy and Omar t he creative brilliance and higdon the man with the plan up front. Let's get off this rollercoaster and shoot into Europe.

Mon the well, mon the fans and mon the nine points, let's get right behind the team.

  2. Think hughes gives us different options but worry for the youngsters such as forbes and carswell. Would like to think Hughes with his experience and being more of a creative player than jennings etc will take these younger guys on and help develop them to there full ability. I still think Forbes has something to add but gets lost some times.

Hope this can energise us for the next few games and it will be interesting to see mccalls formation for the up coming celtic game (i take it any signing is too late for the caley game). Will he go attacking or sit with two holding midfielders in lasley and jennings.

Does this mean that they envisage Jennings being off in Jan?

  3. so if the next few(?) players coming in are going to be loanee's anyone got any hidden gems?

How about Nsiala centre back from everton. He was/is a welsh u19 and seemingly is eligable for Scotland. Someone let craig know. Six foot four so he matches Mcghees criteria. Not sure if he is left sided centre back but if he is could be worth a shout if we loose out on gunning. He was loaned out to maccasfield last year and has said he wants to go on loan again.

  4. Am undecided, but if we did move it would be crucial that we got a fixed fee deal. No ballooning costs from say 5 mill to 12 (like the trams) and the building company would also be fined if they were late in delivering and guaranteed there work for 10 years or so.

Now where did I put that euro lottery ticket.....

  5. Murphy is clearly a vital player for us this year. Hopefully he will be moved off the left mid role and put up front. Personnally I think mccall may be looking to change his tactics with a 4 3 2 1 formation leaving murphy out on the left wing. This would mean he may only need 3 strikers.

Problem then is who do you use on the left if murphy is injured or played up front i.e the other strikers are injured/suspended? Law? From what I have heard his best position is centre left mid, can anyone confirm this?

    page/saunders crags hutch hammy

    lasley jennings law

    hump murphy

    hig

It is this scenario that makes me believe that we need another striker. Hately has played on the left mid before but surely that is not his best position.

Should murphy go then we have to demand 1 million at least. then significant add ons for starts and goals. we are leaving boyles stewardship, moving towards fan rule with this money it would be a good start. We can then surely get in a couple of players one of which would have to be a striker.

  6. I would like to see us sign mcdonald. At 6 foot or so he would add a bit of hight to the team. He has also been playing at a good level albiet he only had some 11 or so games for Notts county (that must have been the erikson era).

Worth a gamble for the man who scored 2 against arsenal and was supposedly the next big thing. He would know that this would be the last chance so would have some reason to stay around for the second halh of games. He would be hungry to show what he can do and with jenno law humphrey that would be a decent midfield. Not saying he would be an automatic starter but he must have the hunger to show he is not a complete lady part!

  7. if randolph goes then turner would be a good replacement.

scott cuthbert and marc laird could do a job.

think though the two best ones for us might be burke and mcdonald. both had seasons with bad injuries which might put other teams off them.

  8. If sutton goes which I think he will down to england would like to think we can keep murphy on the premise that he will be up front which I think is by far his best position.

Craigen off to the BBC is a good bet to. Means we have to keep hutch. Hollis I thought was quite good in the celtic game so think the club would want to generate money for Randolph particularly as he is getting national call ups.

humphrey will go down to england to play.

Jones - is someone really going to look to take him on. He may want to stay depending on how he has settled particularly if Murphy won't be challenging for his place on the left.

Ross will go - page to show us what he can do or hately. If jennings does go though we will need hately in midfield.

As other posters have suggested I can see quite a different squad next year.

With boyle away what money will there be to get in new players? Now is the time for pollock carswell forbes mchugh to step up and show us what they can do.

  9. When are the ICT games to be played. Only giving details of the killie and hearts games on bbc.

Is the celtic game mid week again?

If it is think the long travel will be too much for them. A draw against hearts will be enough and we seem to have hit a positive run at the moment. 3 in a row. Holy Jesus.

  10. Lasley is how old now? Jennings and hately are a good couple of players yet both (I think I'm right in saying) are right footed. Even if they are not Forbes has now got /getting some experience and has a great left peg.

Who needs a fast counter attacker win the ball give it to forbes pass to murph or humphrey jobs a good one.

He is the future of the well. We are not going to go out and spend money on players so lets get behind the guy and encourage like feck.

All things being equal and with a fair contract extension I can see us getting a million plus for this lad.

  11. think he will go with hately page hutch and gunning at the back.

mid of humphrey jennings forbes and murphy or jones

sutton up front with either murphy or jones in the hole.

bring on casa and throw on a few of the youngsters as subs. need to get them into the game so go for it in this one. Jeffers is still a bit unfit so casa gets a chance to see where he is at/can do

  12. Think a 4-4-2 is the way to get at them. Jones on the left and humphrey on the right. Go with casa and sutton up front and swap casa for jeffers 60 odd in.

Get page at right back and leave jennings and hately in centre mid.

gunning at left back (give hammy a rest and meke sure he recovers well from injury.

2-0 well. we are due it. the gers will be exhausted from sunday still with there war of words in the papers

  13. really disappointed in the reports from the surrounding steets. FFS it is stranraer , do they not get out or something.

On another note is humphrey, jennings lasley and hately the midfield for this game when we should be expecting to have to break down the opposition. Seems to be out of balance as well if jones is behind sutton, take it hately will be on the left.

only time will tell but I was hoping we could play players where they feel most comfortable. I.e jones on left with casa murphy up front to hopefully get some confidence and get a few goals.

As I say time will tell.

  14. I think this is an excellent game to check out the page hutchison in the middle of defence. Give it a go and let crags rest up, he's not getting any younger.

would also like to see murphy rested. McCall though has a selection problem. If he plays jeffers, will casagolda be downheartened by the selection. If he plays jeffers he gives him a run out and one game fitter. Sutton up front is a given taking into account the conditions, will be interesting to see what he does. could it even be 3 up front?

If the ground is heavy will we think about resting crucial players in the midfield? Play some of the youngsters?

Think he will go with lasley and jennings in central mid , but change to forbes in the second half. with jones and flash on the wings.

Sutton up front with jeffers for the first half with casa coming on in the 60th.

    2-0 well

Edit oops seemingly jeffers doesn't have clearance

  15. Would like to welcome gunning to the ark. All the best on the roller coaster ride.

Think McCall has a tricky selection for Sunday. Play the new guy in an unexperienced partnership with hutch or craigs or stick with the players who are more familier with each other. This may well be a key decision for the game.

At least halsman is getting mare experience now and will be up for it no doubt next year. What age is Hammell anyway?

How long is the registration process for/prior to a cup semi-final? I take it the FA will be shut as it is the weekend or are they open throughout the transfer window? Just in case we get that striker in.

  16. Surely if the old firm want a ten team league they are shooting themselves in the foot. The reputation of the league itself is surely poor and indeed the of purse pockets arent as deep as what they used to be. If you look at it from an old firm view they want money. money so they can compete with the likes of wigan etc when it comes to sky money.

This though is a narrow minded view. if you ask the latest wonderkid who you want to sign for wigan or one of the old firm the answer would surely be wigan - you are playing in one of the best leagues in europe. Contesting with the Chelseas arsenals etc. Even if you take a cardiff or qpr the answer is the same. The championship must be viewed as a better leauge. Reasons? Well it leads to the premiership. you are more likely to get bought by a english premiership club. The real reason though is that it is a tight league where 4,5 or 6 teams could all get promotted. the level of competition is huge.

Compare that with the SPL. Even if the old firm get pots of cash, where is the level of competition. Yes being a old firm player may get you into the champions league but as of this season do they not have to play 3 qualifiers with the last round being the likes of roma liverpools etc of the world.

Pots of cash to spend on players to make the gap ever wider between the top two and the rest? No wonder attendances are dwindling. When hibs got relegated and came back up that year they were getting huge attendances. Why? They had a chance to win something. Lets face it if you are a provincial side what takes you to a game or gets you to invest in the club? It is because you are a die hard. What other reason is there in supporting a side who have little chance of winning anything. You have to laugh at SKY when the say x club hasn't won anything for going on 50 years. Look at who has won things over 50 years or more likely the last 20 years.

    So hear is the idea.

14 clubs. 2 up 2 down. Playoff situation as it will give the sides coming up a needed cash boost to compete with those in the league.

play each other twice leading to 26 games at which point there is a split of 7. The advantage of 7 is that taking it the old firm will be 1 and 2 that leaves 5 teams all jostling for third place. A 7 split after26 will give each provincial side something to play for i.e the chance of furhter games with the old firm and the cash this generates. sides at the bottom of the top seven, and sides at the top of the bottom seven may have meaningless games but this will encourage them to play youngsters and develop them hence meaning that the mid teams will be better prepared to face the next season as the youngster will have been blooded. A further 6 games to be played. I have to confess this is the bit I least like as the fixtures may lead to more away games but that happens now. The advantage of 14 means that you have more chance to avoid an old firm back to back resulting in a knock to your teams confidence. Will allow for a less boring league " a here is hearts for the umpteenth time". Will allow for a flexible break i.e a proposed break for 2 weeks in jan (what fan isn't skint in Jan) But leave it flexible so that if the weather hits early use the dates in jan as possible dates. The league will be more interesting surely than 10 team league playing each other.

If ten is a easier thing to promote surely you are promoting a boring league. so you can sell it to the old firm as a more interesting league a more competative league (though deep down no one can compete with the finances that the old firm have so they like turkeys cancel christmas in that they will be 1st or 2nd). Hence with a more competative league they might still not be able to compete with wigan et al but they could bring back some quality to there teams. Hence give themselves a better chance of beating a roma or liverpool.

No doubt flawed in so many ways but I needed to get that rant out.

  17. Thought that was really good of Leann to come on the board and post so credit where it is due.

Question now is whats the back up plan? Who can we get. Left mid is dealt with, casa sutton murphy and mchugh up front sounds decent if we can get them back on form. To be fair though think murphy and sutton are giving there all. would like to see the youngsters used as suggested. Bugger it if we are in danger of relegation at the end.

What I am worried about though is the size of the squad. looking at things now hammell - experience and I can't remember when he was last injured craigen and hutchy in the middle hately at right back with page and saunders.

mid from jennings lasley and hately (would be really unlucky if all 3 were to be injured) forbes as back up left with jones and hump on the right.

Sprinkle in the youngsters and it sounds ok but it is threadbare, maybe we have gotten used to europe or challenging for third but maybe we should just look at it as a rebuild job with what has happened to us over the season with the loss of players and manager.
