  1. I'd be surprised if Robbo is looking at anything other than a left sided defender/left back/left wing back and an attacking midfielder, if he's even looking. The squad is pretty packed out in every position (regardless of thoughts on the quality of the quantity)
  2. 2 nil Motherwell with 15 minutes to play. Newell and McLauchlin with the goals.
  3. A good summation of recent events. It's the part in bold that's really got on my tits if I'm honest. We looked to have signed jobbers to fill up the bench rather than sign quality to push last years starters in to positions 12-18. I also fear that signing guys from such a low level of football, consistently, will ultimately be detrimental to the Club both on the playing front and at the expense of our youth players. I had hoped to see Turnbull playing most weeks this season as I think he's a terrific prospect, with Maguire, Livingstone and Scott not far behind. As it would appear, they are miles away from the First Team at present with the influx of signings.
  4. I think that's a natural reaction. I haven't spoken to any Motherwell fan who's particularly positive about this season. As much as I try to motivate the wee man going to games, I'm finding it harder to get myself up for the 90 minute shitfest ahead of me.
  5. On that performance, it won't even be a close run thing when we go down. There's absolutely nothing there. No attacking threat whatsoever and we look particularly poor from defensive midfield to the back 3. The ball was mainly at eye level with my seat up the back of the POD stand. We've regressed badly from last season rather than build on it, with us looking very much like the team that couldn't buy a win post League Cup final. The Summer recruitment so far looks terrible, as I've said before; sign enough League 2/National League players and eventually you'll drop to that standard.
  6. https://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2018/08/10/motherwell-recruit-defender-christian-mbulu/ Maybe the pacey defender we've been after? Another player with National League experience. We'll get to that level eventually...
  7. Not usually a doom merchant, but I'm not entirely confident going into this. Would love to cuff them by 5 or 6, but I can see a shitfest 1-1 draw more than anything else.
  8. Unless Aldred takes a massive cut in wages and we pay a transfer fee, he's not coming back.
  9. The 3 goals we lost are horrendous. Hartley can have no complaints at all. Taylor Sinclair looked like he had Rickets trying to chase Shaw after being badly positioned. It's hard to put it briefly just how shite we were for Boyle's goal. Johnson looked lively, if a little rusty with his finishing. Main/Sammon/Bowman are almost the same player so one of them alongside Johnson looks to be the way forward. In an ideal world I'd be looking for sustained runs in the team from Bigi and Gorrin to try and take control of the ball in the midfield. It's already a massively important game (I can't use must win already) on Saturday as we have a fairly tough run of league games ahead of us.
  10. League - anywhere from 2nd to 8th. Scottish Cup - Winners League Cup - Semis POTY - Tait YPOTY - Campbell Top Goalscorer - Main Wishes - Win the Scottish Cup and be comfortably in the top 6. Sell a couple of players for a few million. Relegate Accies.
  11. I disagree to an extent. I've not seen anything to suggest Hibs, Hearts & Aberdeen will be streets ahead this season. On the flipside, I've not been overly impressed with us so far. In the end, it'll come down to who can be consistent over the course of the season, as quality wise there isn't a great deal amongst the 6 or 7 teams that will be pushing for the 5 places in the top 6. I've intentionally excluded Rangers as we have no idea what they'll be like, but I would expect them to be guaranteed a top 6 finish. I think Dundee, Accies, St Mirren and Livingston will play out their own mini league this season.
  12. The loss of Dunne's pace at the back is going to be the biggest blow to our starting XI. Whilst there can be questions asked of his other attributes, no one in our league can do him for pace or strength for that matter judging by his improved physique.
  13. You've also got Donnelly available with McHugh shifting over.
  14. Must win. Play our strongest, fittest side and go straight for the jugular.
  15. A long old season ahead with even more industrial style football than last year. Little in the way of pace or an attacking threat from midfield, which to me seems extremely ill judged given our very clear deficiencies. I fear we'll be very easy to play against this season.
  16. I want Ciftci signed up. There's a terrific footballer there and Robbo will be able to get the work rate out of him. Having grafters and honest lads is great and an essential part of a squad, but you need guys, mavericks even, to add that bit of quality that the others don't have. It's these guys people pay to watch. It will be glorious to watch him score us the winner in the 2019 SC Final against Celtic.
  17. I would prefer him not to head across the World for these ludicrous friendlies with such a shambolic, rudderless squad. He would benefit, both himself and the Club, with the summer off for a change.
  18. I'm looking for 1 ticket for the Final. Apologies for the short notice, but a friend can now make the final and hasn't managed to get a ticket. Thanks in advance.
  19. Carson is the best goalkeeper in the league by a Country mile, Gordon included. We'll sell when we get an offer reflective of his status.
  20. We also don't have the luxury of being Arsenal. Motherwell can't really afford it taking 6 months to a year for a player to bed in, we really have to see them producing within 2-3 months of the season starting such is the cut throat nature of our league. That goes for every team in the Premiership out with Celtic, Aberdeen and Rangers.
